Great video! I installed the Screaming eagle PRO oil pump, and cam plate, with the S&S 465 cam on my 107 softail, and damn, the $700 was well spent. I seen everyone going S&S or fueling oil pumps, and decided to try the Harley performance line, and do not regret it. Straight jewelry, and on startup, the oil light barley even flashed. Instant oil pickup.
A follow up to my previous comments about this shop. The shop did reached out to me. The work on my bike was performed as scheduled. I had cam work and a dyno tune. I haven’t had any issues thereafter. Turned to be a humble young man.
Thanks for the great video . I have a 2012 FLHTK . I want to get a Woods 222 cam and Alpha lifters along with a new cam plate and oil pump . I'm going to take Bob Woods advice and call Dave at DC cycle .
Bob Wood knows things from back in the day that have had impact for years up to this day. A brilliant racer, and experimenter. Record speaks for themselves. God Bless All. Learn and enjoy. 2019 Tri Glide, 114 with Fuel Moto header, Cobra mufflers being fed by a Wood 22xe cam. 2019 Tri Glide. Can't wait.
I had the woods 22xe cam installed. I had the se pro oil pump and cam plate installed also. I could not do the S&S oil pump and cam plate do to the crank runout was .006. S&S max runout is .005. Go with the top of line the oil pump and cam plate. My suggestion.
I hear you. On my new build I am actually using the new SE oil pump and plate. I pick up tomorrow and will test out. Will make follow up video for sure.
Great Video. DC Cycle is very good folks. Same Set Up In A 117 CVO Ultra Limited.. 120HP 132TQ. Tuned for smooth curve not really for max numbers. Totally Different Bike From Stock.
Harley's run-out tolerance is 0-12 thousandths. Living in Japan for 7 years and I learned they would never have a tolerance so great on a mechanical part. Especially a, "Single Point of Failure" part that will grind up the oil pump over time. S&S recommends no more than 5 thousandths. My Fat Boy is 8 thousandths. The only solution is to rework the Fly Wheel...like the other items we have to replace to make our bikes right...by tearing the engine down and sending the Fly Wheel out to be Zeroed & Welded. Which will invariably lead one to conclude to remove the reciprocating mass and drop in Carillo rods. 2FD SQUID ET1(SS/SW/MTS) US Navy, Ret.
Great video. It’s the first one I’ve seen where they didn’t strip down the bike to install a cam. My question: This install was done a year ago, and what’s your opinion about the 22XE now? Also did it destroy your fuel economy vs when it had the stock cam? Take care
Thanks for the compliment. I will tell you that I no longer have that particular bike. I traded later on but as for the fuel economy, it was fantastic. What was surprising was that the fuel actually increased. And that was because of how it was tuned. To perfection. The RPM stayed around 4K even at higher speeds. I put a Star 30/30 in my new one and has same effect. But I love the Woods 22XE sound way better. I will guarantee you will love it. And no I don’t get endorsement fees at all. Just God’s honest truth.
S &S max runout on the shaft is .005 for chain and .003 for gear driven. Your guy has your runout at .006. Just like my 17 FLTRU. I chose to go with the pro se oil pump. You are not covered by S&S because your bike is outside of the runout tolerance. Researching thus issue That extra .001 out of tolerance will prematurely wear the cam plate bushing which can lead to low oil pressure and poor distribution of oil to important internal engine components. Too much money invested for me to take that kind of risk.
The thumbnail picture for this video is the dyno chart. But after speaking with Bob Wood personally he recommended the 22XE for my 114. Im curious what he would recommend for a 117. I bet that would be a monster
Why did you upbgrade from DC cycle kit to this Moonshine kit. Is Moonshine a better or bigger kit. I am having DC cycle install the same kit you had..I live in SC and I follow you. Please tell me you you upgraded. I have an appointment next month. Thank you.
Good question. I actually didn’t really upgrade. On my older road glide I used DC cycle. On the new CVO I used Moonshine. I have had great performance out of both. I will say that Dave at DC cycle is a genius and I plan on using him again real soon. As for the performance and sound I would choose the Wood cam that DC provides. Between the two is like choosing the two best in two different regions. I mainly did it for content. You can’t go wrong with DC and I stand on that. He will raise your eyebrows and will pull your wig off with what he can do. Hope this helps.
What brand is the windshield on your Road Glide Ultra and how tall is it? I have a 2019, Road Glide Ultra with a 128-inch build, Cycle Rama 483 cam, two-into-one exhaust, dyno-tuned Power Vision fuel tuner, Rivera, high volume oil pump, S&S lifters, adjustable pump rods, HD extreme air cleaner.
I don't know which ROAD GLIDE you have if you have a 107 or 114 or even a 117 (you should specify it).... In any case I have a STREET GLIDE (my 2023) ST-117, and I mounted this CAM W8-22XE, but my opinion, after having tried it, even with a meticulous tuning done by one of the best tuners we have here, is that this CAM is not the best choice for touring, because it opens too late (at around 2500 rpm) and compared to the stock CAM of the 117 (which already has a much better CAM than the 107 and 114) and is already full immediately from 1500 rpm and in terms of linearity (I mean "linearly tuning" the low rpm (from 1500 -2500) with the medium RPM (from 2500-3000) the WM8-22XE does not do a good job, compared to the stock CAM of the 117, the bike loses a lot of fluidity and linearity of the response...So my personal opinion is the following: the performance of power and torque are not all ... For me, linearity of the entire response is even more important and the CAM WOOD WM8-22XE, from this point of view, is sincerely inferior to the stock CAM of the St-117... I'm sorry...
Hey man no need to be sorry. What I have learned over the years is that it’s a matter of personal opinion and choice. I can definitely respect that. On that bike it was a 2019 Road Glide Special with a 114. And the low end and high end torque and power were immediate. I currently have a 2022 CVO limited with the 117. Running a Star 30/30 in it and although the sound isn’t as deep as the Wood cam, the immediate take off is amazing. Initially until I got used to it, the bike would rise up thru 5th gear. Tuned at Moonshine Harley outside Nashville. Totally different bikes, totally different stock England cams. I have been interested in the new ST models though. Outside of just being sexy, that racing power from the get go is great. Looking at the new 121 now. Thanks for coming by
