Great video, super informative even for those who have no intention of DIY but want to understand what they're paying for in this install. Best "Tech Tips" ever bar none, bolt head size, torque value, ball end key usage, and heating permanent Loctite for bolt removal to avoid bolt searing, ( nothing turns a 30 minute job into a 3 day ordeal like a broken bolt ) . I'm impressed Ava has trained you two well....
Nicely done. One of the best m8 cam install video I've seen. I'm installing the same cam very soon. I appreciate the attention to detail and informative explanation.
You mentioned about the adjustable push rods. The shovelheads came with adjustable push rods. When I first heard about folks putting a bolt cutter to the push rods instead of taking the complete heads off to get to the chain tensioners.
a little tip on the lifter install..before you put the timing chain back on permanently , put put your lifters and the cuffs in/on and then you can easily rotate only the cam by two fingers to test and/or re adjust and test again without having to rotate the tire and whole engine. I noticed some are also replacing the chain pinion gear due to slop or poorly spec size, and a few have failed (?) I noticed you guys didnt fill or prime the lifters(?)...ill try to check your site for the part Numbers etc, as I'm going to do this mod (different Cam on one and same cam on my other M8) along with S&S Oil and Cam plate upgrades.. but I did break a lifter cuff bolt as the were completely covered in thread locker. My Crank run-out was about .002-.003 I was wondering how many miles were on the OEM lifters seems they will all have glazing in a 2-3k miles..The/ your dyno torque and power spectra looked great. Seemed like the bike wasn't lope-ing, but oscillating while warm and Idling which I hope my 22Xe cam project doesn't do.
You gentlemen did a great job with the camera, description of each step and torque values. The background music was distracting. How many labor hours are charged for this job you did? You got a new subscriber well done!!
Thank you for the feedback. We're just getting started and hope to get better as we go. We charge for 4 to 6 hours on the cam install, depending on how long it takes. Some pipes and other things can change the time. We do lots of booked in one day cam and tunes here. www.dccycleandracing.com
Great video, guys! Really informative! You guys nailed it! I've got an FXLRS and have been going through a journey of learning all this stuff, and it's been amazing! This is something I'm really aiming to do this year! Quick question, When cutting the pushrods, do you also get the lifters to drop down and then cut?
Thanks for sharing a really good video. You guys are very thorough and methodical. By the way, you mention that you clean the old Loctite off the bolts, and I was just wondering if it's also a good idea to clean the threads on the engine casing by running a tap in the stud hole before assembly?
I'm planning on having this cam installed on my 22 low rider s too. Would you recommend an aftermarket oil pump/cam plate like S&S or would the stock/updated harley oil pump/cam plate suffice? Have about 3500 miles on the bike. Thanks for the info 🤙🏽
Great video! By preloading the pushrods and then letting the lifters bleed down, wouldn't the valves be slightly held open when the lifter pump back up once you start the engine?
Damn good video! After watching it, I feel like I could have done it myself. You guys really made it look easy. Only one question...what exhaust was used?
We do lots of one day cam and tune installs here at www.dccycleandracing.com and it takes us about 4 to 6 hours on cam install and around 3 to 4 hours on the tuning.

Thanks for the great feedback my friend.
Best cam install video I've found so far.
Wow, thanks!
The BEST how to video for M8 cam change. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! We're going to try and get better as we go with new videos.

Thanks for watching my friend.
Thanks for all the recent videos . I'm going to bring my 2012 FLHTK for some upgrades !
Awesome thank you.
Great video. It’s great to be able to see what goes into one of these installs. Thank you
Thank you.

Nice job looks good. Sounds really good. Appreciate the video.😎🥃🥃
Awesome work and the bike sounds good. I’m subscribed

I don't remember how many miles was on this bike, but we always go ahead and change the lifters.

Harley people are worried about the plastic but GM LS motors have had plastic lifter trays since day 1 in the 1997 Corvette

Yes would make it easier.
Is a s&s oil pump/cam plate not really a necessity?
How much does a job like this cost without parts typically?
Thanks for sharing a really good video. You guys are very thorough and methodical. By the way, you mention that you clean the old Loctite off the bolts, and I was just wondering if it's also a good idea to clean the threads on the engine casing by running a tap in the stud hole before assembly?
Yes, for sure. Can't over clean an engine.
Don’t pay attention to the peak torque numbers....look at the gap @5k rpm.....40 ft*lbs. gonna pull like a freight train compared to stock!

Yes I recommend it but if it's a 2020 or newer we don't make you at our shop.
@DC CYCLE & RACING thanks for the response. I ended up keeping the stock pump/plate 👍🏽🤙🏽
The S&S tappet cuffs are cheap until you break off a bolt removing the stock ones.
Man, isn't that the truth
Good video my friend.
Thank you and we appreciate the help from watching yours.

Excellent video! Are all the parts you used available on your dccycleandracing website? Thanks
Good video😎,tensioner bolts are worse then the cuff bolts in my book
Man yes, they can be just as aggravating.
great video
Thanks!
Nice video guys.
Thanks!
S&S tappet cuffs are $135 here in Australia
Damn good video! After watching it, I feel like I could have done it myself. You guys really made it look easy.
Only one question...what exhaust was used?
I believe this build received a D&D billet cat 2-1 system
On the woods lifters I see you showed lubing up the outside of the lifter but does the lifter need to be primed before install?
Is there any advantage to priming the woods lifters with oil prior to installation? Some people are saying yes and others are saying no.
We like to but it's not a have too. Sometimes it takes longer to bleed down is the downfall.
About how long would you say it takes you to do this job?
We do lots of one day cam and tune installs here at www.dccycleandracing.com and it takes us about 4 to 6 hours on cam install and around 3 to 4 hours on the tuning.
Those snap on rubber bands ain’t cheap
All great shops have them. Lol!
Good info but music not necessary
the music....plz turn it down. cant hear billy bobby jr
