@@carolewood3445 I quite agree Carole, I went to see bucks fizz in 83 they were brilliant and in my opinion "Now those days are gone" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written !!
Listening to this after the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth. I was 18 when this came out...parents were alive and I thought I had forever ! Time goes quickly! Do a good deed everyday folks!
This is one of the greatest ballads ever, the melodies, the harmonies, the meaning of the song, the powerful ending. Incomparable vintage Bucks Fizz. Love Dies Hard is another great gem in the same album. Hits you harder when you’re older, when you’ve experienced love, but hopefully not too much lost love. It’s a very sad song. Loved them from the very beginning. So glad to have grown up listening to their songs when they were in their prime in the 80’s. Fine music like this, now those days are gone, indeed.
Flawless victory !! How could anybody makes derogatory remarks about a group who could produce a recording of this quality. They hit all the right notes and strike all the right chords in ones emotions. The older you get the more emotive this song becomes. Their detractors would do well to realise this song will always be relevant and listened to long after anyone who dismissed bucks fizz as nothing special.
i love Bucks Fizz ,they will always be remembered by most for Making your mind up for me this is their best song by a distance then its Land of make believe
This is a true gem of a song - a masterpiece. I am sure those of us who are now getting older can see the significance of it all. It still makes me watery-eyed, as I am reminded of love ones who are no longer with me, and of happy times past. Thanks for posting this x

I stayed friends with my ex. I'd walk through fire for him. Glad I stayed for the person he is... This song helps me remember that we only have a few years.

The bit at the end with the airmen gets me,my dad was in the RAF and it reminds me of a gentle man that fought for his country. Just wish i would have told him how proud i was of him.
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded by amazing vocalists. Those harmonies are just stunning. People passed them off like they did Abba. Time tells the truth and this is class.
I agree totally Maxine a truly beautiful song by 4 singer's bucks fizz the song has a lovely wartime theme going on such a beautiful song xx indeed if only those days could come again indeed 🎉❤😊
i was 18 when this was a hit in the UK back in 1982, i'm 54 now. the song has more poignancy to me now than it did back then when i was a smart arse know-it-all 18 year old who really knew nothing at all. those days have gone, and i wasted them all.
Beautiful memories of a very, very special girl who I met. Sadly, could never be an item. Love her to this day. Glad to know she is happy with her life. Miss you so, so much. xxxx
I have always had time for Bucks Fizz. Let's face it, how often have we won the Eurovision Song Contest? Unfortunately they were always considered lightweight and too readily dismissed. I like most of their songs but I think they totally nailed it with this one. It's as close to perfect as you can get.
Truly one of the most beautiful and finely executed songs from this era. Those opening acappella bars are simply breathtaking and Mike's voice throughout just beautiful. I hadn't heard this for years until I was stopped in my tracks yesterday when it was played by our local irish radio station. I'm so pleased to have rediscovered it.
+Ella Kelly Hi Ella, I think it was Classic Hits ( 94 Fm), probably Gareth O Callaghan' Sunday Morning programme. Ha! now you have me listening to this again 😿
@EllaKelly Listen to Gareth O'Callaghan's 'Classic Love Songs ' on a Sunday morning. It's great for hearing stuff that you have literally not heard for 30-40 ,even 50 years (giving away my age now ;) )
I was 20 when I first heard this, and after going to see Bucks Fizz live, I was convinced I would spend the rest of my life with Mike Nolan. How young and foolish I was. This brings back memories of being young and innocent, even at 20 !
what an awesome song.. accapella is amazing.. when the piano and strings come in its so lucious. outstanding! one of the best ballads bucks fizz ever recorded!
One of their under-rated gems. Big fan growing up...saw Mike and Cheryl's interview on GB news the other night, great to see them still performing and recording.
"'Cause I just can't stand the thought of life without you". For some of us on the other side of the water, discovering this massively underrated group is only happening years later. This is a magnificent video of an absolutely gorgeous song; Cheryl Baker is a keeper, and Mike Nolan nailed the lead vocal. I was programming stations then and this one certainly would have been given a shot. #8 over there, and it was the third single off the LP (the other two went to #1). One of the best single tracks I've ever heard.
Doing a bit more research, "Days" was released in the US, as the B-side of "The Land of Make Believe" (RCA PB-13299) in late 1982, off the "Bucks Fizz" LP (NFL1-8029), which in the US was a compilation of tracks from their first two UK LP's. It appears RCA didn't have much confidence in them over here. That's a shame.
Thanks for that -- I got the cassette in '82 and shared it with a few friends in Southern California. The drummer on My Camera Never Lies was particularly impressive to me. I can't imagine why they didn't catch on in the U.S. ----
My favourite. Loved it then but now more poignant. Still with my husband of many years and happy to with him but recognise the sentiment in the song. One day one of us will be without the other one. Somehow it has seemed to happen over night. Children flown the next but we are happy.
No human can offer a greater gift to another than that of brightening up that person's day when it started off badly. This arrangement touches that button and thus will remain in eternity. Sometimes it's good to tell the artists that they made a difference. I hope you read this Bucks Fizz. Thanks so much.
PRICELESS this song!!! 💘 11 months later... and it appears those who flew the flag for Exit did so under false pretences. The only thing I'm willing to salvage is FAR AGE
I was six when I got for Christmas a radio cassette player and a Buck’s Fizz tape as they were all the rage at the time and vastly underrated, vastly.. I’ve just listened to all the songs again after years made me cry with the reasoning why they seem to have been erased from history??? No radio play ..? Not even 80s radio wants to know...? I was 17 when this this song was released and love it then all them years but had no idea at 57 and many poor life changing choices would make choke on my guilt and wish I could make things again as it was and this song now leaves my in tatters get me EVERYTIME
What makes this extra poignant is looking at how the turmoil with the band name and David Van Day’s involvement contrasts with the innocence and purity of this song from their early period. A beautiful ballad with flawless vocals and lush arrangements.
Love this song remember it well when it was released in 1982 I was 17 years old I am now 53 and still love it today as I did back then this is a great piece of music Love Bucks Fizz 💕💕💕💕……….kim 🇬🇧
