The song is the original 12" remix of Together In Electric Dreams by Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey, (c) 1984 Virgin Records
The movie is Electric Dreams (c) 1984 Virgin Films Ltd/Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
This is a revamp of the original video that I love, and put a remixed version of the song on the video, to bring this amazing song back to life again.
***UPDATE*** If you live in the UK, the movie is now available on Blu-Ray!
Available on Amazon : www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Dre...
"Together in Electric Dreams" is a song by the British singer and composer Philip Oakey and producer Giorgio Moroder. It was written by Oakey and Moroder and recorded for the original soundtrack of the 1984 film Electric Dreams.
It later formed part of the joint album Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder, released in 1985. Released as a single in the UK in September 1984 it proved a major commercial success, actually eclipsing the original film it was intended to promote. Reaching #3 in the UK Singles Chart, staying in the charts for 13 weeks. It would prove to be the only hit of the brief Oakey/Moroder partnership. It was finally released as a single in the United States in 1988.
This is a re-vision of a video I did about 5-6 months ago, I had never been 100% happy with the result to be honest, well, this is about as close as I am going to get to being 100% perfect.
Legal stuff....

This has to be the song deemed as my all time favourite, it tells a story of love, life and friendship in such a way, that sometimes you lose what it is front of you before you knew it was even there. Who says that friends need to be the people that are sitting beside you, they don't, friends can be thousands of miles from you, you may not speak for weeks, but you know you can pick up from where you left off very easily.
In love terms, the end of this movie actually says it all...
When Miles asks Madeline why she is interested in him... her reply complicated, but sums up how things "should be"
"Even when you were'nt there, it like you were.."
the line "Miles..... I guess I love you.." does actually bring a lump to the throat lol..
Ok, the movie is kind of a cult classic, but has some amazing music in it, the best of the UK's best in that time, Heaven 17, Jeff Lynne (lead man of ELO), Culture Club, Helen Terry (culture club backing singer). Some amazing sequences written or re-arranged by the king of popular movie music at the time Giorgio Moroder, whom scored movies like Top Gun, etc, at the time. I was just so glad to have seen this movie first time round, and their vision of what computers can do some 30+ years ago, is even a pipe dream today, I waited 9 years for this movie to hit VHS, and then had to wait for a further 15 years for it to hit DVD. If you want to watch a decent movie with some amazing tunes in it, and can handle a little smidgen of cheese on the side, try to locate this on DVD, it is relatively cheap, and a worthy feel good movie, has some nice comedy sequences in too, like "Edgars" first song written to Madeline for Miles....
Miles Harding: "You can play it for her, you can play it for me."
Edgar: What?
Miles Harding: Play it, Sam.
Edgar: What key?
Miles Harding: Your favorite.
Edgar: You want verses first, or the choruses?
Miles Harding: Any way you like.
Edgar: Yeah!
[instrumental bridge of Jeff Lynne's song "Video" plays]
Edgar: [singing] Hug, hold, squeeze and lick / Darling, I love you to bits / And I want to see your tits.
Ok, who’s still listening to this EPIC MASTERPIECE nearly 40 years later?
As a teen of the 80s, it was such a great time to be alive especially when it came to entertainment. Wished it had gone on forever.
Nccodyssey for music, look up the FIXT Neon label. Current artists doing stuff that sounds straight out of the synth-y 80's.
AMeN Brother...🇵🇭☠️🇺🇸...
Same here
It kind of sucked cos there was no Shazam to identify songs. When one found a name of a song, it was hard as hell finding the record at the store. Lol
ich auch!! bin 1966 geboren. greetings from germany.
Pity the kids born after the awesome 80's. They never knew what they missed.
You act like people can’t find it for themselves :D I mean I’m 23 and grew up on stuff some would consider older stuff
80's movies and soundtracks need to be found again.. My recommendations.. Rocky 4, Topgun, Karate Kid, Footloose, Back/Future.. NO remakes - original soundtracks. 1980's!! Trust me.
Wildly UNDERRATED movie for the time. The 80's truly rocked
Most definitely!!! 👍✌️
80s one of the best movie
I first saw this movie in France in 1988 at school. I was 13. Such a sweet story and wonderful music. The part where Madeline plays the Cello with the computer over Giorgio's Moroder track "The duel" had a profound impact on me. I was already doing programming for fun on my Commodore 64 at that time and now I am a software engineer in the field of audio digital signal processing.
Georgio moroder was. a genius this song and film should be put in a time capsule. one hundred years from now it will still be electric.what a collaboration Phil and georgio.
Most definitely!!! 👍👍👍✌️
Couldn't agree more.
Or if this piece of music were to be teleported to outer space, the extra-terrestrials might even enjoy dancing to its tunes! 🤣😂
I was such a fan of this movie when I was a kid, that when I visited San Francisco recently, I went by Miles and Maddie's apartment building...
Wow. What a great experience it was
Oh you lucky man!!!
This movie inspired me to get into computer programming as a kid which enabled me to make a million dollars. Thank You Electric Dreams!!!
Can i have some please
@@davejenkins669 The ex-wife took it all blew it on hair, nails and spa days. It's all gone. Now she's broke and only has her cats and dildos to keep her happy.
That is AWESOME! (Also, STILL a great movie!)
"Electric Dreams and War Games" opened my curiosity to computers "!😊
This song is SO eighties ! Just incredible fantastic
I miss that time that music that feeling that .....
Je ne sais quoi?
Such a great song from such a great time!
One of the best songs ever written! By Giorgio and Philip
That's true....i suggest to everyone to look the movie.
This is what music is supposed to sound like. A tragedy those days are past forever.
Not forever.... it all comes around again.
David Coetzee --- I expect that's what your parents said about this music. Rose tinted spectacles of youth talking. There are still great pop songs today... You've just got to open your mind Grandad...
No it's not, it's just not pop. There are a lot of good 80s style sync pop music out there. The most famous one right now is the song that Cristoff sings in Frozen 2. It sounds like it could have been made in 1985. I don't know if it was the chicken before the egg or not but they even made that part of the movie like an 80s scene.
Not that tragic.Just put your head phones on.
They were definitely more cutting edge. I'm hoping we could return to a time when background sounds could be part of a soundtrack.
The first "big kid" movie I snuck and watched. RIP Lenny
This is like a perfect song.
Forreal.
"Love Never Ends..."
Amen and Amen
Oh man!
I was 17 back then.
01:00 - 01:06 Casio Watches and Imagic Video Games for the Atari 2600, life was great...
imagic games were awesome! and i would go back to that time right now with no hesitation if i could
Not a teen from the 80s or 90s, but now I realise that entertainment in those days are so much better than everything we have right now. And talk about a power couple, I have seen gorgeous couples before, but Miles & Madeline are just immaculate 😍😍😍
You have to watch the whole movie to appreciate the complexity of their relationship. OK the movie is not a blockbuster, it does stand on its own as a hat tip to the music of the era, with a little science future thrown in for good measure. Edgar is funny too and very evil at times.
@@JohnCarey1969 alright, will do! definitely gonna find a platform where the movie is available. Yes, it must be fun to watch because of the music and the sci-fi element
Miles (Moles!) and Madeline were perfection. Lenny Von Dohlen (RIP) and Virginia Madsen are definitely two of the most beautiful people on the planet. And I loved that he was more vulnerable and she won him a prize at the festival, etc. Wonderful underrated little gem of a movie.
Old school will live forever
so sei es. ich höre täglich die 80er. auch giorgio m. viele grüße!👍👋
The movie needs a Blu-ray release.
Michael Lester It's been released on blu ray in the UK. Second sight own the rights to the blu ray.
I miss every about the 80s
when I feel sad or had a bad day,
I listen to 80s music on UA-cam, then go to google maps and search for places
(at same time put side by side minimaze screens or listening in background )
I remembered happy and sad places when I was young, brought me a smile and tears, more smiles, then tears for that couple minutes and how the places looks different Now, but have always spiritual connection to the places and time ,80s music take me there to exact place.
(the only time machine I can think of without physically being there)
like this song together in electric dreams
70s 80s were the best
Great movie, Great song , the eighties were amazing for music and movies
Pop perfection from the 80's ❤️❤️👍👍
Rest In Peace Lenny! You were beautiful
An underrated Texas actor.
Wow, back then.. when every top chart hit had an extended version. Brilliant song, amazing lyrics, and the music is just phenomenal.
You are fab
a great soundtrack and a great tune.Singing with my friends together in electric dreams
I love the 80s. day 2022 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💞💕
As a 14 years old i didn't exist in 1980s but i really really love this much greater than to modern videos❤❤
March 2020 during the corona pandemic...had a musical flash back had to hear it
Like me, takes you back to what seemed like a simpler time?
plannedemic.
R.I.P. LENNY VON DOHLEN (Miles Harding ) born December 22, 1958 died July 5, 2022 at 63 after a long illness.
Great song, loved the movie. It was the era of Bugle Boy jeans and GREAT music!
Yes, the 80s was a great time to be alive, we were all blessed with great music😜
Life before Bill Corona Gates was awesome !
man i miss the old mtv
But be honest. You didn't have iPads in the 80s. Right?
This song randomly popped into my head at six am. So i did a search and here i am in electric dreams. 🇬🇧👍♥️
Just watched this on mothers day 2022 with my daughter.
Still an awesome film to this day.
Loved watching this when I was younger with my mum 💕
That is so cool! SUch a fantastic movie!!
This is a beautiful movie, and Virginia Madsen is perfect in it.
Virginia Madsen, so elegant and beautiful ! And what a gem of a composition from Giorgio !! 6-star !
"Seems as if she disappeared at one time until she reappeared in "The Haunting " beginning scenes in 2000 or 2001"!
We had our first computer at home in 1995. This movie was so advanced. I mean, man! 1984 and you already had a computer. It was still typewriter era in the Philippines. 🤣🤣🤣
The PC was invented in the US so yeah.
First home computers in europe arrived in the early 80s, my first home computer was a Sinclar ZX81, in, you got it, 1981! The BBC Micro was 1981/1982, Commodore Vic 20 in 1980/1981, Commodore 64 in 1982/1983, with a whole barrage of other home computers to follow in the 80s, the Sinclair Spectrum, MSX, Aquarius, Tandy TRS-80, the industry was at the start of the peak in 1984. Many fighting for the place in the world of the home computer market, many games that were released were written by the kids of the day. The computer in Electric Dreams was a kind of mash up between a few computers, it didn't really work, it was fed images from other sources, but it was said to be an Apple II look-a-like. Lots of the tech advances of today can clearly be seen in this movie, computers controlling lights, sockets, automated authorisations of credit cards. Visionaries of today must have looked at this movie and said "listen we have to make this stuff happen!" Yes, the story is cheesy, but sweet, its a great movie just for the musical talent in the movie! A music video within a movie if you look behind the story. All directed by a great music video director, Steve Barron. Who made video's for Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, A-ha, OMD, David Bowie and many others!
They just don't write 'em like this anymore. So classic. What an incredible time capsule!
Moroder is a legend
Totalmente
Reminds me of times I wish I could have back....
Simply incredible, the 80s are back ! It's like a time machine :)
On July 20, 1984 " Electric Dreams " starring Lenny von Dohlen as Miles Harding & Viginia Madsen as Madeline Robistat was released.
Rip Lenny... AKA Moles
One of the best 80s songs the lyrics gives me goosebumps i salute the human league😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The Best Era....80's!
Song that defined the 80s tune.
This video is a perfect summary of this flick.
WOW! when that teardrop fell...cinematically, philosophically, magically the ultimate moment...virginia Madsen was sooooo attractive in that movie.
One of my all-time favourite movies and what a beautiful couple, I doubt they could remake this,
what movie is this
@@Mystical-TEDDY_ "Electric dreams" , it still works as a romcom, a nice 80s film made when things were progressive, the future looked bright, new tech was our friend which was going to make our lives easier and better and the world wasn't ending in an inviromental catastrophically
Great song and great 80s classic movie!
A time when anything was possible we were happy and carefree today it's just bleak.
But Phil was such a handsome man.
Human League...New Romantic era...his voice was unique
Born in 81 loved growing up to the music.
I love the soundtrack to this way way underrated movie w, young Virginia Madsen.
"Love Never Ends"...if only that were real. But such a great sentiment. Luv this song and movie so much. Long live the '80's. )))
I only knew you for a while
I never saw your smile
Till it was time to go
Time to go away
(Time to go away)
Sometimes it's hard to recognise
Love comes as a surprise
And it's too late
It's just too late to stay
Too late to stay
We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together
Together in electric dreams
Because the friendship that you gave
Has taught me to be brave
No matter where I go
I'll never find a better prize
(Find a better prize)
Though you're miles and miles away
I see you every day
I don't have to try
I just close my eyes I close my eyes
I close my eyes
We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together
Together in electric dreams
We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together
Together in electric dreams
We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together
Together in electric dreams
We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together
Together in electric dreams...
Great memories as a teenager in those wonderful 80s where did the time go this song when I shut my eyes brings me right back there what a great song.🙏
Good movie and good song and lyrics too.
At its time this song was the most stylish super feel good song that really standout for me , and it still feels very much the same to me today. Amazing.
Hey there, I agree, I'm a baby boomer and this song just cheers me up every time I hear it. 😀.
a great soundtrack and a great tune.Singing with my friends together in electric dreams
I love the 80s.
A perfect song for a perfect movie.
This was my very first boyfriend and I’s song. We would dance to it even after we broke up and I would always cry. I loved him so much. We were just 23 and 22. He died in 2001 and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him.
A hit when i was a child and i stil love it.
I love extended versions of 80s New Wave songs. Giorgio has another awesome one for Irene Cara's "Breakdance".
I, a 13 year old approves this song!
Seriously it sounds so good!
Idc if im to young, this is my style of songs.
Even started to watch the movie with my dad! Looking good Edgar!
Childhood comes flooding back! Such awesome times!
One of the great pop song. I just love the intro.
Whenever humanity questions itself there is an answer.
Rest in Peace Moles... See you in the airwaves my friend.
Goodbye, Moles. :(
Best movie ever in the 80’s and very prophetic 😳
Saludos desde Asunción del Paraguay. Un gran video, buena historia, buena música.
this was one of the lost forgotten gems of the 80's. Was such a fantastic movie. One of my faves and the soundtrack was great
Moles and Maddie. One time when the nerd gets the girl. Yea!!
One of my top 5 songs that i could listen forever 😍
when life was great
We had just been through a horror S#€¥ Fight in Iran during Gulf War and brought out for R & R during which this movie was shown to us. At the end of the movie there was total silence, each person with their own electric dream. Will go down for me as a Great Movie.
Love the 80's.
Love never ends !
RIP Lenny.
Pure emotion. Like to support a remake
RIP Moles Love never ends
Immortal song any generation will like a big hit in the philippines in the 80's
I am searching for my favourite piece of pop music. This comes high.
Back in 80s we used to love our new found electronics, walkman, Solar calculators, Cheap digital watches...and computers. And had a romantic view on AI.
Now there's nothing but Fear.
CRT TVs, casette tapes, video tapes, my siblings & I were always fighting to use that 1 family phone :)
Looks like somebody forgot the terminator very romantic
This movie did not show a romantic view on AI. It's was totally fear.
I've adored this movie--and Virginia Madsen--since I was a teenager. 🙂
80s my teen years. I am lucky!
We went to see Giorgio last night in the Eventim Apollo in London, what a fabulous night it was, I'm an 80s teenager and this is my all time favourite song and he looked and sounded amazing for a 79 year old man, unbelievable!!! Got to live this in 2 different eras!! Tears to my eyes (of joy)!!!
Same. As a teen in the 80s I never imagined the impact that technology would have on our lives today. The social aspect especially nowadays is hinted in this film...
Bring back memories of better times😊😊😊❗❗❗❗❗
I like this song more than most of what Human League produced....And in an interview, Phil said they banged it out in like a weekend. Lightning in a bottle.
I love this song it brings back a nice memory. The DJ is from Manila he brought his records here in USA SF.
Beautiful!👏👏👏👏🎧🎼✌️
Trop mignon, souvenirs de nos années d'insouciance perdues.
I always hear this song when my step father is playing it when I was a kid. It seem like yesterday and I still love this song. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nice video and movie!... It reminds me my youth times. Thank you for posting.
Fantastic music

This is song is always in my playlist every time I want good music. I just love the melody...
They may not sing well by professional singer standard. But I just love it because it's how normal people sing...
*80's brilliant times.........thx for sharing!
Ma prof d'anglais au collège me l'avait mis sur une cassette, Doriane merci ❤
RIP, lenny von dohlen
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Saw this with my best friend (who has recently passed) and played it for both my OTHER best 'friends". Timeless.
Before music became a sheer vomitorium. Magical, storytelling, great vocals, great times.
My #1 lifetime favorite 80s song perfectly integrated with movie clips 😃😍
