PSA: You DON'T HAVE TO manually take your honey from your beehive to your kiln! Just simply use your kiln and your you can make sugar directly from there since you can process stuff directly from storage and your beehive IS a storage!

Would you happen to know if there is a way to group up all the honey stacks with this method? I felt that gathering all the honey in my inventory was still a little bit faster (once you have a lot of beehives).

i can't remember if you mentioned this in the first farming video: if you enclose a farm plot in walls or fences, one farm sign expands to cover all of the spaces inside, can be handy for mass farming like this. only thing to be wary of is if you're using delegated farming it will make the entire plot one variety- so don't use this if you're making multiple stats per crop type! if all you want is, say, STR mushrooms though, can save a little bit of space and it looks pretty nifty having one big plot

Except that you don't seem to make higher level wines from those products, from my own testing. There's something about the Brewery Barrel that seems to erase the level of the item being fermented. That could have been changed since I last tested, however? Feel free to correct me if it's been changed.
EDIT: In fact, if you level up the base products enough, it's even more profitable to just sell them directly rather than convert them into wine. Maybe this is what you were referring to?

    • @PerfectDeath4
      @PerfectDeath4 День тому +1

@@andrewneedham3281 For sure when it comes to something like Mushroom -> Bonito Flake Wine you basically triple the wine per mushroom. Honey to sugar is only double AND you don't lose the crop level like converting mushroom to bonito flakes. Thus, it makes sense that high level sugar on its own or maybe cooking it into a high value food works better.

For some reason in my game honey needs flowers to be a couple of levels above the quality threshold before honey itself becomes higher quality. This might be because of rounding of quality be the game (tested on the beach so other flowers are not a factor).

Sorry to always add something, but from the code the exact formula for honey production is:
    - flower = ammount of flowers (cotton is also a flower for this calculation)
    - for each beehive do flower -= 3 + EClass.rnd(5 + num2 * 4); where num2 is the number of iteration (0 for first, 1 for second, etc.)
    - if at any point 'flower' drops below 0 no honey is produced in that cycle
    - if "spare" fertility is below 30 there's another check where each point below 30 is a 1% chance to fail
So for 3 beehives to have a 100% chance to produce you would need 1it: (3+4)+ 2it (3+4+4) + 3it (3+4+8) +1 = 34 (min value of rand is 0) flowers and 30 spare fertility for all of them to produce 100% of the time.
Adding more beehives won't decrease production (since the 3 iterations already produced), but the falloff gets stronger each time.
The optimum number of hives is a little more than half of the 100% to produce (481 flowers for 20 beehives, 8 beehives is optimal for 100 flowers)
Edit: Not certain why the enchant value of the honey is consistently lower than of flowers in my game, but it could be the rounding causing it to round down to a lower number.
    Edit2: For anyone interested the optimum number of flowers for first 10 hives is: 1 - 6, 2 - 13, 3 - 22, 4 - 33, 5 - 46, 6 - 61, 7 - 78, 8 - 97, 9 - 118, 10 - 141. Coincidentally, a single sun lamp can cover a maximum of 145 tiles.

750 flowers supposedly supports 18 hives at max production according to this table I found in elin discord.
For new settlements I just do a 12*12 patch of flowers (144) to support 7 hives due to minimal gold investment. I currently have 5 settlements but my meadows has 900 fertility (I silk hammered a decency before using ether dye to make a 10 quality futon and wrenched if 14 times. Now I have beds that make +3-4 soil farmers). The current ballache is managing power requirements to set up a teleporter network between these settlements Ive placed them near places like noyel, palmia and the workshop.

Advantage of bottle of honey over sugar tough is that grinding high grade honeycomb whit low grade honeycomb will result in high grade bottle of honey, maybe there is a way to make honey wine more profitable if there is some way of geting alot of low grade honeycomb.

there's a little bit of misinfo or missing info in here (its prolly the latter)
    1. honey scales off flower that scales off farming level this in turn increases sugar price and the wine, the issue here is, it scales really badly.
    2. berries, sucks at low +, yes, it sells really bad and berry wine sells even less.
    BUT
    3. berries SCALES hard at higher farming levels and there's a weird interaction about it and wine.
I have a +250 berries and berry wine at that level sells for about 150-ish but the berry itself sells for 303

all jokes aside, i'm curious about one thing. do flowers beyond the fertility cap still increase honey production? as far as i can tell, the only downside to going over the fertility cap is that crops yield nothing when harvested but with defertiliser you never have to harvest and replant your flowers because they never wilt.

A general tip for anyone who want to try the beehive farm or just farms. if you use fench or walls, you dont need to put so many farm signs, only one works in closed areas and if possible I suggest to make it indoor with sun tables (If you build it with walls you need sun) so you can farm them and at winter. You can check the greenhouse build I made. Ofc in small scale 😀
Did you find any way to auto water them or auto use the fertilizer?

It's a really good tip, thank you for sharing! You can also farm outside in winter as long as you remove the snow (and provide sunlight - just like you've said). Greenhouse sounds like a really cool idea though! Regarding auto-watering, @Bronimin seems to have a fantastic idea with the ether disease (I even thought about getting it for my main character to help with some enemies). Auto use of a fertalizer would be huge! Alas, I don't think there is a way to automate it just yet.

Some of the NPCs with set professions will always have a fixed job or hobby but you can set both of them for most of the NPCs ( with a little bit of save-scumming). There is also a mod for this on steam workshop which makes it significantly easier. It's called 'KK Whip Selector'. It might be a bit of a cheat though.

Latest update notes indicate that selling only 1 product will result in diminishing returns. You will need to diversify your exports to keep a level cash flow. If what im reading is right that means that youll need to sell things other than wine or the value of wine will decrease. Im not sure what the conditions are set at for now but im sure it will effect large scale operations like this.
