I was expecting someone to come bursting out of the doors at the end as Emily and Ed leave yelling about missing baby turtle's and we see them take off running. 😅
Andrew is a terrific lighting resource at ZooMed. I talked to him on the phone 5 years ago about UV lighting for a custom sized enclosure. He helped me pick the correct size lamp and explained how and why it's the best choice.
One thing I love about Snake Discovery is they never stop learning. Sometimes you get people who say, 'I've done this for x number of years I know everything.' Snake Discovery is 'I didn't know that! Tell me more!' The best way to be always questioning, always curious.
Wow, it was SO INSPIRING to see the greenhouse room!! The turtles that have their own hibiscus tree RIGHT overhead! Mangrove trees growing in tubs! And of course that Snake-Neck turtle was awesome-looking too! That is a MUCH bigger facility than I expected it would be! Thank you for showing us!!
Ashley's face as she says, "I call them pancakes!" [7:49] was adorable! 😂 I love seeing people who are passionate about cool things talk about their passions! 😊
as a pasdionate person taking passionately about my passion I agree people like myself are very fun and enjoyable having someone speak a lot about something they are super into and in love with always makes any conversation ten times better,
Those beardie pellets, if they’re better than existing beardie diets, seem like a game changer. The hardest part of having a beardie is providing the right food consistently- the pellets seem like a great alternative when you can’t find anything good at the grocery store or your salad ingredients have gone bad or your beardie is on a hunger strike
The ingredients looked pretty good, and they looked like they actually had some moisture to them. Other pellets currently on the market for bearded dragons are pretty much just rabbit food with extra protein added (usually from corn, soy, or dairy) and really aren't appropriate as staple foods.
It was really interesting to hear about the pellet diet, considering most people will do fresh food only. It makes a lot of sense that people would use it for feeding when away from home!
while some people might prepare fresh salads for a friend’s reptile while they’re away on vacation, a lot of people wouldn’t and a pellet would make it much easier for sure
I will say that, I always thought of Zoo Med as kinda the cheaper brand that people bought that didn't know any better. This gave me a completely different view of them as a company and I couldn't have been more wrong! I will be on the lookout for Zoo Med, if my tarantulas need anything.
This was so interesting and definitely gave a great impression of their company as a whole! You think of zoomed and zilla as being kind of like petco where they don't really go very in depth with their animal care because it's run by higher up reps that are more interested in sales than the actual proper care and housing of the animals they sell but it's nothing like that at all
As someone from the EU, it made me laugh as well, the plug just looks normal for me and I always forget that they look different in other parts of the world
As a European from Germany I find it amusing that Emily didn't know the plug, since it's so normal for me. Yes, Emily, you guys have quite some people form Germany watching your videos :)
Makes sense they'd want to do their own breeding. That way, they have animals who are closely related undergoing trials together. That also helps ensure they won't have any genetic diseases or color morphs that change how the average animal functions. This might be especially important for feeding trials, since living organisms are so complex in the way that they process food that it's impossible to truly know a food provides all the necessary nutrition unless you test it out.
We have that in the US but we say the 3rd pin is for grounding. Difference is our grounding pin is round and on the bottom and I think your earthing pin is flat. That plug had 2 prongs/pins and she was surprised they were at an angle because ours are straight up and down.
@@splendidpursuits what she showed seemed like a European plug (so Netherlands/Belgium etc) and it has two round plugs that are straight (it's not angled). Our grounding/earthing is not a seperate pin, but is on the sides of the plug.
I mean, it's technically not incompatible with the older UK outlets. It's called the type C plug, and while the matching socket is no longer legal due to being ungrounded, the plug is still in use because it fits in so many other sockets. It's actually in use here as well- we use the grounded H type socket, but C type plugs are found very often because it doesn't need to exactly match the way it would if it were grounded.
Having customer service and animal care in the same room so that the employees are hands-on with all the products the customers call about is genius. So many customer service people have no idea what the company even sells and they just read off of a script so they can only answer the questions that have already been answered one way and put in their system.
Considering how big of a company ZooMed is and how many products they offer, it's amazing to see and hear about how much they do in house! Looks like a really fun place to work, too!
Love that Zoomed is nerdy with physics and their lights! As an Astrophysics student who did many labs focusing on radiating spectrums, I absolutely loved that light section!
What do I want to bet that ed and Emily have a ton of new ideas for the old green house at the zoo they've been using for storage. A full facility and warehouse walkthoug.... Please
I'm from Denmark, so it is really funny to see how excited Emily got at seeing the EU plug xD I didn't even think anything of it when she was waving it around before they actually talked about it 😅😂
Zoo Med is awesome. Several years ago, I wrote them an email calling them out on their projected life of their CHE bulbs being something like 3-5 years. I told them they were totally wrong about it and that I've had 2 of their CHE's for over 25 years (btw, I still have them running 24/7). They sent me a box of stuff, albeit, none of it was for bearded dragons (most was for turtles and tortoises, lol), but it was still appreciated.
Wow, what a cool facility. That tortoise setup is amazing. I wish I lived in a state with a climate that would more easily let me have red foots. Those guys are so cool.
I keep hoping they'll turn the greenhouse into something like theirs, but on a smaller scale. Tortoise pens, maybe their own iguana, lots of plants growing to feed the various reptiles in-house.. that'd be awesome😍
Y'all are awesome!!! What a cool place to check out!!! Sneaking around when nobody was looking, I definitely would expect that from you two!!! Too funny!!!
Talk about a dream office! It would make all that tedious computer work so much more relaxing with so many gorgeous enclosures and plants in the same room. 😌Someday.
I recently watched the zoo med episode on the Animals at Home podcast where they referred to the tour that Kenan Harkin from kamp kenan did I haven't watched that tour yet but I was planning on doing so What a coincidence to find that you went to their facility just now 🤗 So glad to see the up to date footage and learn more about them 😁
God, I wish I could work at a place like this. Combining my love for reptile care and genuine desire help people out in customer service environments, then being able to tap the expertise of the people on that campus if I'm asked something I'm not sure about.
i love you videos, zoo med is such a great company and you are so lucky to have visited, also can you make a video on how to convince you parents to buy you a pet snake
This was awesome! I learned so much! I actually bought a Zoo Med DYI terrarium waterfall today & searched for videos on it & so this came up in my search, good timing! & it makes me want to buy more of their products! And get a turtle 🐢! LoL
That was an amazing vlog, i enjoyed watching everything they do. I like you guys just envisioned a big warehouse but i was so wrong. It was great to see everything they do ❤
I THOUGHT I RECOGNIZED ASHLEY! Also wild they have a whole spectrometer in there, those things are not cheap. They really are "zoomed laboratories". And again, it's nice that everyone was like "ok I have to be professional" but really did kind of get to come out of their shells talking about their fave things. It's like almost a year later, and I'm coming back and still learning new things!

We really should put a lock on that door. 😅
Thanks for stopping by the Labs!! It was great finally meeting y'all! 🐢
Hey guys! I was wondering do you sell your products in the UK?
I could have easily sworn that the incubator room was a "staged scene" but no, Ed and Emily broke into the incubator room... I love them
Thanks for helping drive forward the quality of products available in the hobby. Your efforts directly improve the lives of millions of animals the humans who care for them!
@someone and the guy even said UK when he first described the plug.
@@LadyBugIx it was staged, it was obvious.

100%!! I wouldn't be surprised if in a future video we see a new side neck turtle addition to the zoo!
That would have been the perfect ending! I bet they wish they'd thought of it!
I thought the same thing and was waiting for it!
DANG IT that would've been such a good idea!

while some people might prepare fresh salads for a friend’s reptile while they’re away on vacation, a lot of people wouldn’t and a pellet would make it much easier for sure
And it's so much more high quality than I would have expected, and so well liked by the animals.
I wish they would put as much care into palatability for their gecko diets...zero interest from my gang.
Pellets cannot substitute for fresh produce
Disappointing to hear them promote such a thing tbh. Pellet diets are notoriously terrible.

I found that to be surprising as well. It's a much more respectable company than I assumed.
I found that to be surprising as well. It's a much more respectable company than I assumed.
I mean it is sort of debatable, they still use unsafe/unsuitable products and produce them.

9:26 Emily: "That's a silly-looking plug." 😂That made me laugh out loud for some reason.
I live in the UK so her calling it a UK plug was funny. Ours are a lot chunkier as it's made with safety in mind! :D
As someone from the EU, it made me laugh as well, the plug just looks normal for me and I always forget that they look different in other parts of the world

Hi Emily, our UK plugs have 3 pins in a triangle, the top pin is for earthing the appliance so its safer.
We have that in the US but we say the 3rd pin is for grounding. Difference is our grounding pin is round and on the bottom and I think your earthing pin is flat. That plug had 2 prongs/pins and she was surprised they were at an angle because ours are straight up and down.

Watching the pancake tortoises, I was suddenly hit with the realization that turtles and tortoises never know how beautiful their own shells are.
Welllll the male turtles sure know how pretty the female shells are..🤫🤫

So many customer service people have no idea what the company even sells and they just read off of a script so they can only answer the questions that have already been answered one way and put in their system.
That's the fault of the management, not customer service employees.
What a fantastic company. Imagine working there as a sales person and getting to care (play) for all those animals. Sounds like heaven to me. ❤
