I haven't done a product review in a while, and this one if going to help during the Sturgis Rally. @Advanblack has a new version of the tour pack rack that fixes cracking over time, and this issue has been around for decades!

I brought a advanblack tour pack 5 years ago, luvved it, then it cracked exactly as you are describing. I contacted advanblack told them what had happened and sent them pics, I wasn't expecting anything back as I had owned it 4 YEARS!
Guess what, Advanblack came back and said they would replace it FREE OF CHARGE :). all I had to do was pay shipping, this was an amazing offer especially as my tour pac was the Candy Hot Rod Red Flake colour which is expensive upgrade.

I welded my wings on about 6 years ago. I figured a bigger surface area was better than the that little foot print. It's funny to see someone else came up with that same idea. Rock on 🤘 Advanblack
I can’t say enough good things about AB’s customer service. Bought one of their boxes two years ago and within about 500 miles, had the lid fly open while riding because they didn’t put any loctite in the latch hardware. They quickly sent out a new box.
Then about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that the sides of my box started cracking. Again, they sent out a new box and only asked me to cover shipping.
Since they don’t make the new rack for softails yet, I’m stuck with the old design. But assuming that their adapter for the light for the LRST works with other M8 softails, they’re gonna get some cash from me during Sturgis.
I had the original advan bracket and the tour pack was flexing enough the latch broke and the lid opened on the interstate. I emailed them about the issue. They sent me a new bracket and latch kit and only charged me shipping. Note I was a full year out of warranty and expected to buy parts to fix. I emailed for advice on why and what I needed to fix it. They made me a customer for life.
Well , I have a 2023 RG Limited. I will inspect mine and get ready to replace it . I had no idea , I would have known about the issue when the tour pack fell off 😂 . I enjoy your videos 👍
Really good ideal. Just ordered one. They are also running a 10 percent off sale now until the 7 th . It’s good time to pick one up and safe a little money.
It would be extra cool if they made it adjustable because I know some of them women that got junk in the trunk could use the extra space, especially when they’re sitting behind, handsome burley men like us also known as fat old men
The pack can shift back I think up to an inch or so on the rack.
Well one inch is a lot to us, but the women won’t notice it ;)
you can get a aluminum bar kit that goes under the pack that moves it back 1, 2 or 3 in further i have one set at 2 in back and its great like 60 bucks amazon

Ridiculous to headline this as "you have a problem". I have carried the same tourpak from my '15 to '19 and now my '24 RG. Not a single crack. No flex. You just have to do it right to start and not overload.

I've owned several touring model HDs in my life and also owned a BMW. You wouldn't believe how much more simplified their luggage rack & tour paks are, their tour paks also come off in a nanosecond. Damn shame HD can't make something reliable, even their tour paks are garbage. 🤦🏻♂️
Just traded my Street Glide Special (named by you and the misses “Murder Glide” and bought my first Road Glide Special. Love the new Advan Black stuff. Ordering a razor for the bike today.

I have a tour pack for my RGS and it is only on the bike when I go on an extended road trip. I expect it to last at lot longer than one that never comes of.

Good product! While in sturgis, expect advan will bring you a tourpak wrap around twilight, who you got doing the rear-end build??? I'll order that rack for my rear wheel and swingarm bushings replacement in September!! Thanks!
The main problem with the tour pack is once u use one you will miss the storage when u take it off..
But I hate the damn pizza box. it’s the only backrest solution that will fit with the rear suspension I have on there and like I said I love not having to stuff my bags to the hilt ..

Mine constantly keeps breaking the plastic grommets that connect to the mount, and the quick release lock pins keep breaking too. I've adjusted the oval to have it sit right, but still breaks. Any suggestions and what grommets to use so it don't bounce while going down the road?
i have a 2024 Road Glide ST Fast Johnnie. I got the Harley King Tour pack, with the Harley mounting bracket, and i started seeing this plate option around. I started kind of freaking out, because shits not cheap, and i thought the same thing.....this is so obviously a necessity!!! Weak points in the plastic or fiberglass or whatever they use to make em. So, i went out to check my king tour pack to confirm i did not have one, and see what i needed. HOWEVER, the new king tour packs, have a metal plat" t5hat actually doesn't sit flat in the tour pack, its slightly elevated to compensate for that dip in the bottom of the tour pack. Wonder if this is new, and eliminates the need for these other plates?
Just asking, but are you both taking tour packs? Or is there something wrong with the Bob the Builder king pack hanging on the wall? Just curious. Keep up the great work. Cant wait to see the new ST ass. LOL

Are there any replacements yet for the weak shoestring that keeps the tour pack lid from flopping back? It always feels like it may snap any moment.

no it wont, the ext bars lift the pack up 1/2 or 3/4 in (i cant remember) so it wouldnt sit on the wings ( thats why it would have been a better design to offer just a top plate w wings to add on any existing mount we might have. but that wouldn't have made them as much money. the plate could have been bolted on ontop of the ext rails and worked
If I still have the non quick disconnect oem mount can I swap it out for the advanblack one as my quick disconnect bracket?
Your have to convert the bike to quick release overall.

I'd love to have a razor tour pack for my bike but I can't find one color matched for my 2013 Road Glide CVO (Gold and Green). Maybe some day.
If it's a OEM color Advan or Hogworkz should have a paint match

Some are in the RV. Sold the cholo and the CVO.
I would think you would want a washer under the bolt head inside the tour pack. Seems like a lot of pressure on a small plastic surface.
The bolt head is on a metal plate.
Can u spray it with rhino liner

@@ProfessionalMonkey rhino liner. They spay it in pick up beds to keep from damaging inside of ur bed. It dries like steel.

That’s a tough one since the factory mount is different. If you convert the tour pack to quick release you can use this bracket.

You should of got a orange tour pack. Performance bagger's do not have tour packs.
This one is for a different bike in that color. And tour packs are for bikes that need to haul shit.

Just buy a BMW R18 TC or B model, and be done with this nonsense.
People buy what they like, I think the BMWs are fat butt ugly.
Will the rack work with the tour pak relocation hardware? I have an extended reach seat and the wife wanted more room so I put the plates on bottom so I could slide it back 4 inches. That rack would be great for us we load up and take week long trips on the bike. We all know how women pack so the Rickrak suitcase on top of the tour pak isn’t light.
Can’t be sure since I don’t have the hardware to check…
no the bars lift the pack up. so it wont sit on the wings. you could (as i am going to do ) fabricate your own wings to bolt on the mount that will work
@@chrismurphy5564 that’s the plan. I looked the new one up and I think there’s enough room to drill new holes. My rack needs changed anyway. It is tweaked a little and never has fit well.

@406MenaceRacecar trade it in on a real man's bike like the goldwing. They profected the goldwing that's why they have the same motors in them unlike Harley Davidson. High priced junk.
