I'm 70 years old, been riding since I was 23, I'm a vet, and I currently ride an '04 Heritage that I've owned for almost 14 years and have put over 150,000 miles on. Well a few months back a friend and I were participating in a poker run. As we were on a freeway off-ramp a group of patch wearing 1% decided that we were holding them back, so they swarmed us, riding between us, cutting us off. I have respect for anyone who rides, but an a**hole is still an a**hole, whether he's on a Harley or in a Toyota!!!
Nothing says I love the freedom of riding a motorcycle like having my life revolve around a bunch of BS rules and having other people tell me everything I can and can't do.
Exactly FOH !! Nobody owns the road you in pack stay in pack fuck is you trying control traffic Smfh tires this 1 percent fear bs ya try to put on us !! We men too if I want pass I will ! FOH
I get the lure of a club for sure …But when I was young I went through an apprenticeship and finished to become a lineman..It was a tough gig those guys would treat us like shit..I had always been into bikes since I was a kid and always rode..When I was about 25 all my buddies started prospecting and made it into the local 1% club ..any this time I had 3 kids and a mortgage and was a journeyman lineman..I used to hang around the club at their functions and shit like that but I would watch the prospects (grown ass men) doing their thing I thought back to my apprenticeship and said fuck that I’m a grown ass man …I still go to their rallies and big parties but I get in my bike and go where I want when I want and I still don’t regret not prospecting..And this is not a knock on club members at all gotta lot of respect for those guys but like I said I’m a grown ass man..lol
I understand the issues between clubs. However, it just seems easier to not be a part of a MC or group so that the issues don’t follow you. I prefer to be able to ride where I want, drink with who I want, not be told where/with who I can ride, etc. To each their own, but I’d rather have the freedom to do what I want (and not have to pull over and takes my cuts off at certain spots).
I understand what you’re saying completely! Politics turned me off of the whole club scene, and while it’s worth it for some to wear colours, it wasn’t worth it for me
I'm not a member of a Club. But the solution to your stated problem seems simple. Don't wear a Cut and do what ever you want. Guess if you offend the wrong Person they'll let you know. Many people are Victim's of Crimes no fault of their own. Bikers or No Bikers.
I stumbled across a couple of these videos. At first I thought it was parody, then realized the guy was serious. I don't make a habit of intentionally insulting people, their traditions or their lifestyles (well, I do for bud light drinkers, but...), but if I were to inadvertently insult some 1%'ers and they decided to "teach me a lesson", I would simply draw my legally carried firearm and graduate them to 0%'ers. Leave me alone and I'll leave you alone. That's a simple rule to live by.
@@flowerswerewarpaint646 not really. Now that we have stand your ground laws in nearly every state, we don't have to tip toe around some bike club 1% or otherwise. I'm a free man and I'll ride how and where I want to. I just recently discovered after 35 years on a motorcycle that I'm not a "biker" according to the "real" bikers. All of whom where wearing suspiciously clean vests.
I stopped being a "real biker" ten years ago when I sold my Harley, got a Yamaha FJR1300, and started wearing actual riding gear. I recently went to a rally for Wounded Warriors. (I'm a military retiree and disabled vet.) I was the only one there with a Japanese bike. The "real bikers" completely shunned me, but I was OK with it because I can outride every single one of them. (I've been riding motorcycles for 41 years. My dad is 79, has been riding for 60 years - and still rides all the time.)
I’ve always rode a bike. I don’t drive cars at all. Own a Honda to go everywhere in all conditions. I’m in the UK, 62 years old and I have been riding since I was 18. I’m unlikely to unwittingly come upon a MC with vests and have to hang back, but it’s good to know if I travel to the US. I come across group riders over here and I hang back but only just in case they ride like chimps at a tea party! I wear protective gear and a day glow vest because I’m invisible. I owned a Harley for a while. After 4 years the paint started to come off it in chunks. So I sold it, it ain’t build for our weather and I don’t store my bikes in a garage. I got a Honda CB1100. Tame, dependable and keeps it clothes. It’s interesting to hear what others think bikers are though. I suppose it’s a cultural thing. Everyone to their own.
@@Rbourk252 im a fairly new rider so this question is a real question. you ride in all conditions you say but what about days when the snow is covering the ground? do you just not go out? i am wondering because i live in nothern usa where there is quite a bit of snow. about 4 months of the year.
I have ridden a light weight 250 cc bike in the snow. But there is snow and there is ice. Rubber wheels and ice is disastrous. The heavier the bike the more dangerous it is. Your front wheel can go from under you in milliseconds with no time to react. Snow and ice occupy no more than 5% of my year. I also fly a Cessna. There are days when I wouldn’t fly. I look up and say naaa! On an icy day I go for a stroll and scuff the road with my boot and ask do I have traction. No traction, no ride. Put the bike under cover, charge it with a solar panel and get to where you wanna go another way. When the roads clear, the bikes in one piece, but more importantly, I’m in one piece. I’ve ridden in fresh snow but once the stuff is compressed and frozen to glass then take my advice, put on snow boots and crampons instead.
From a trucker's perspective (21 years of professional experience), traffic packs of any kind are a hazard. If you ever notice out on the open road traffic almost always travels in packs. Obviously an MC is a deliberate pack like any other organized ride. The point is, if anything happens to any vehicle in a pack there's a high likelihood it's going to involve all of them. For your own safety in general either stay ahead of a pack or behind it, there's usually a mile or two between packs. Pass ANY pack with care. It just seems common sense that if it's an organized pack it's a good idea to let them be aware of your presence before hammering by. This is for their safety as well. Here's a personal experience to illustrate my point. Some years ago I was traveling on I-196 in Michigan. It was winter and the middle of the night. There was about 3 inches of snow on the road and it hadn't been plowed yet (lake effect snow comes down fast). I had a traffic pack about a mile behind me and I was making sure to stay ahead of it, and was driving in what I figured was the middle lane. I came around a curve and saw right in front of me a broken-down minivan. I eased to the left and passed it. There was no way I could have stopped without hitting him, and all I could do was blow my horn as I went past. As I passed I saw it had the hood up and a guy was messing around under it. Well, the pack behind me that filled up the entire road hit him. He was killed and it turned into a multiple vehicle incident. As an aside, although I ride I'm a casual rider and not a biker.
I know not to wear a fucking existing club patch cuz, shit why the fuck would you. That I understand, like claiming you went to Iraq.... but you spent 1yr in the reserves and quit (true story) 🤣 or dangerously fly by a club or try to run between them. But as long as my made up patches on a wallmart Jacket dont say fuck X club.... This is mid school stupid level mentality.
Man. Ive been riding for years, ive never once waited to be waved on by a group/club. I simply cruise by them, giving them all a head nod/wave and none of them have ever had a issue, including 1%s.
So let me get this straight. The general public needs to be aware of what they can and can't do around 1% clubs because God forbid we do something wrong and hurt your little egos. Conversely the 1% clubs will have no regard for the general public in the event of a war between clubs. The guns come out and shots get fired without a second thought to the general public and who might get caught in the crossfire. I guess "Your mommies must have told you all you can do whatever you want."
They seem to have an inflated view of their own importance and b/s 'rules'. Their own petty rules about passing without an invite etc have no authority on the public nor anyone not in their fancy dress party. They work on percieved fear of them, bullys in a gang not so tough when alone hence hiding the colours they would 'die' for when alone in certain areas. And as for being 'rebels against authority' they then make up as many rules for themselves its comical really.
@@chrisclarke6344 They seem to think they are rebels and outlaws by joining a group that makes them follow a ton of rules to be a member. I don't think they understand the meaning of rebel or outlaw. At 70, and over 350,000 miles ridden, I treat every vehicle I come up on with respect. I don't tailgate, honk, etc. When I deem it safe to pass, I do so, quickly and efficiently. Always works for me! What gets me is when a large club lumbers through the hills, leaving no room for turnouts or passes. Rude and disrespectful to faster, or more skilled riders. Really enjoy your channel!
You have to remember these groups have an order and a process to riding, very similar to how the military or police or security companies move through areas. You cannot split an armoured motorcade and you cannot split a MC. Once split then they can be compromised.
@@timfrench9127you have to remember that they don't own the road, no one owes them anything, and their little peter pan boy's club rules don't apply to the rest of us
Have to chuckle at some of the responses here. Typical “can do what I want.” No one said that you couldn’t. This is accurate, helpful info for folks that give a care about extending Respect on the road. Honestly folks, chances are VERY slim you’re going to pass a Club on the road. I can only say that for where I live- but most have somewhere to be, and are moving along pretty fast. Faster than me needing to pass them at least. Out of courtesy and Respect, i hang back. Club or not. Do as you will, but this is good, solid information and advice.

I was riding alone in Washington and came across a pack of 1%ers from the area. I stay back for a mile or so and the tail gunner motioned me into their pack. I rode about 10 miles with them back with the hangarounds and prospects but damn it was a blast. We were moving about 90 mph and having a great time. I signaled I needed out and they made room. I got off the freeway and headed home. Best ride of my life. Love this channel btw. Just came across it and subscribed immediately.
It always made me laugh that just because people formed or joined a club then they make rules of the road that everyone has to follow, life doesn’t work that way and then getting mad or even makes the group look even more pathetic. I have no issues with grown men wanting to join a club, be it a golf club, bowling club or motorcycle club but if bowlers started wearing their patches out in public on vests and telling people that you cannot pass their Vespa convoy until waved past we’d all laugh at them too. I hope you’re having a great time in your clubs but don’t make up shit and expect everyone to follow your rules.

Strange you'd be Offended by simple safety Rule. It's just a suggestion to allow to be safe and them safe also. Riding in Group you could have legal liabilities. Showing respect and staying as safe as possible. Seems to make sense. I'm wondering what type of person that would bother?? Why is that Pathetic? Sound like you may have some serious issues you should get worked out before you drive anything on public roads or Live with a woman and Especially Children. Common Courtesy Offends You? It's surely not meant to be Offensive.
Recently while riding to work, came up behind a group of 6 or so uncut riders. They were snailing it and I wasn't about to be late for work because of their poker run, or coffee cruise, or whatever road hazard they were trying to accomplish. Long story short, I switched over to lane one and quickly but safely over took them. I can only assume it was the road captain that was about half a mile ahead of the group, but I caught up with him at the next light. He didn't give me a second glance or even an inkling of dislike. Granted, had the group been a patched crew, I may have given them a few more seconds to wave me by. Unless they are cut, I usually treat them as regular traffic that is trying to kill me and move along as safely as possible.
Nope, you're right. There's no reason to stand on ceremony just for a pack of bikes. Never join someone's pack of course, but I am sure you know that already.
When we were going to the graveyard in my uncle's funeral procession. A huge pack of the local dominate was on the highway and our procession came up behind them. I was very suprised and had to smile a little when every single one pulled to the side of the road . The guy in front even removed his helmet and held it to his chest as we passed. I was a little kid and I'll never forget those guys.
I solved this etiquette thing years ago after I bought my first Ducati and usually ride alone or with a few friends I can trust. I'm in SoCal where Harleys rule the freeways and sport bikes the canyons where for every Harley you see, are ten higher performing bikes including GS's etc. My only rule is never pass on the right and when passing on the left, get their attention before doing it.
One thing about passing a pack (any pack) - its also a safety issue. Depending on how big the pack is, they may see something you can't. Also if you just go by, the guys towards the front may think you're one of them and there's an issue further back. It's not always about cuts and 1% diamonds, sometimes is just keeping everyone safe.
@@theprofessorfate6184 How about "Not being a dick" while riding? You just shouldn't infiltrate any group of riders. Unless, I guess, you want to show your dominance and everyone will know how kewl you are.

Been riding motorcycles for...25 years. I ride because I love motorcycles...it's that simple. Sometimes I ride with 2 or 3 other guys, but we don't have this weird need to start a club or get vests...or pay dues...or anything. Clubs take the whole fun out of riding, and I question if they love rules and politics more than they do motorcycles.
I ride as well, and one thing that o find weird îs that some MC members just dont wave at other bikers,i dont mind really, but that gives me The feeling that they Think They are superiours to other riders which Really they aren't,also not all clubs or club members do this,i have met some that were really awesome People
It's like any other group. It provides comradery. A sense of belonging. Sometimes people just don't fit in with other groups so they band together and make their own, and sometimes the band together around something they love, in this case it's riding motorcycles. It evolves into an actual subculture. I'm cool with all the rules for people who CHOOSE to be a part of that particular group or subculture. What I'm not cool with is people in that subculture trying to bully others into following their rules.

Living in Southern Cal I have been around many 1% MC's on the road here and riding up on them has never been an issue you have to be doing over 90 to even get close, its usually me moving over and watching them pass. It is usually what I would consider the most dominant club and certainly one you would not screw around with.
True that. Impressive as HELL to see a Pack go by, Two by two and a bike length apart at +90mph. Did see a crotch rocket power ranger split a slow rolling Pack and damned near rear end the Hurse. I have been there and done that. I rode with a club in my younger days and I have to say I found it was not for me. It bothers me that people can't mind their own business and just leave people alone. The whole thing seems kinda childish to me.
9 yrs ago while driving my truck in Texas close to where I live about 40 Bandidos turned onto a highway in front of me. I slowed down so I wouldn't get in their way and the two guys in the back slowed to almost a stop in front of me, while the rest of the group continued on, and tried to make me pull over. I mention that because they were supposedly started by Marines...obviously no respect for Marines though. I wasn't going to pull over, these dudes looked pissed off, were the size of pro linemen, so I turned at the first rode we passed and one of them turned and chased me down. I finally said fuck it, can't outrun a bike, and slowed down until he pulled up beside me. This is after him following me about 2 miles. I yelled out the window that I'd kill him if he fucked with me and he took off. I had my son with me, wasn't going to take any chances. @@ProfessionalMonkeybut it's actually not, because in the video you made a point to say that there's no need to give the same "respect"(submission) to any other group aside from patched groups. Which is frankly just nonsense
From time to time I eventually bump into these 1%er losers riding in formation, like they own the freakin road. The guy on the rear signaling me that I am not allowed to pass them. These idiots must be watching too much Mad Max videos, because 1) they don't own the road, and 2) my Hayabusa is too fast for them. In general, street racers don't have issues with Harley riders. Aesthetically speaking, Harley's are absolute dope, but speed overshadows the beauty of the bike. But we have serious problems with guys who expect us to be submissive, just because they are patched. For most rational individuals, a patch doesn't mean nothing, merely a piece of tissue for guys who never reached puberty.

Thanks, this is really useful. I often roll up on large groups of HD riders, usually riding well below the speed limit. Normally I just re-route or stop for a coffee and let them get up the road. On occasion, however, on roads like the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is more difficult. Thanks again.
I honestly don't understand why I have to abide by MC rules/culture if I am not in the MC life. I respect their culture and generally keep to myself. 9 out of 10 times I ride alone. I'm not trying to start any trouble, but if they see I am a "Slick Back" or Not wearing colors, why do I need to abide by their rules. Just as much my road as it is theirs. Again, I am asking an honest question here. Not trying to rile anyone up. But I honestly don't bow down to anyone. Never been the type to walk on eggshells for anyone. I just stay away unless you come to me. Can anyone give me a valid argument as to why I have to ask permission on a highway to pass a group? I would obviously pass on the furthest lane away from said group to show I am NOT rolling up on them with any ill intentions.
Same. It's cosplay. "but they do crimes!" OK. Do crimes on your time. Smart criminals don't stop to get some uninvolved person in their business because of some social faux pas. That said, I was on a long ride last summer - south down the CA coast from Reno to LA and back - and I ran into the Chicano Style MC out of San Jose. They were doing a GREAT job of bullying car traffic and I rode in the back of their pack two abreast with one of their patches for probably 30 miles. I looked them up when I got home, emailed them, and they were as nice as you could ask. I think it's only the insecure chodes who pull this shit.
Interesting topic. I might add that if you are returning from a rally and splitting lanes (because it's Sunday and some thousands of motorcycles just joined the already crowded southbound Golden State Freeway from the Love Ride) and a club are suddenly coming up behind you, also splitting lanes, you don't need anyone to tell you: pull back into traffic, let them pass, and don't jump back right behind them. Common sense is often the best rule of the road. If you are intent on showing respect, you'll know what to do.
I like the channel. Been riding my entire life. Never been in a club, but I have had several friends who have been/are. I wanted to be when younger and almost prospected but changed my mind because I knew I wasn't disciplined enough to respectfully do it. That being said, I have ridden all over and have encountered many clubs: HA, Banditos,Jokers, etc. I have never had a problem with any of them. I even accidentally did what you just said once: I ended up pulling out into their group. There was a local poker run that day I was trying to catch up with and I thought that was the local folks at first. I realized right away it was one of the clubs and just exited ASAP. They were cool- one was even half laughing/smiling as he past because he realized it was an accident. I like your channel because it is very educational. Most of the club guys I know are not only cool to the public- they are usually cooler and kinder than the average citizen. All the stuff that people associate with them(fights, etc) usually happens among themselves or rivals, not the non member citizens . I remember a band I am in played a show at a clubhouse of a 1% club here in the NW--they were beyond cool---however; they had an area with a room that was No Access to us and that was made clear. They said enjoy whatever you want as long as it doesn't include going into that room. My guess would be that was where club business may have been taking place. We respected that and had a great night
That's because they're all gay as hell. When you dress like a member of the Village People and prefer that all male company, you're always gonna get that side eye from me. Youngman? There's no need to feel down....
Great advice, I’ve also seen appreciation on the road for respecting MCs. Couple members have also stopped when I was parked on side of the road with bike issues. Met the coolest people on bikes many in MCs but might be also because I try to show respect and not be a dummy
I think it humorous that anyone would ask permission to pass a group of total strangers on the freeway. If I wanted to follow arbitrary rules I would join a club, since I dont like people telling me what to do I dont. I sure as hell aint asking permission to pass, especially if its multi-lane. If your in a pack, preserve your road discipline and keep it tight, then no one should be able to cut in. Respect? Wheres my respect as a freedom loving American and leaving me alone if you dont know me? Reminds me of high school...
I live amongst MANY bike crews, They will wave you back or wave you bye. Do not power through…wrong move. Back off and away. They may even tell you to pull up BEHIND THEM and roll slow. I rode BEHIND a group of 1%’s and at the diner I mentioned I was going someplace.. The one dude a Tail gunner told meto ride behind them …and I did for 60 to 70 miles. When we arrived he fist bumped me and told me stay safe bro… very cool Black and White family. They made my weekend.
It's good to know. Thanks for the info. There are quite a few clubs up here in New York. I haven't had any issues with any clubs but this info will help to keep it that way. Thanks.
Question…to me, respect is paramount. Now, I am a new rider with no affiliation to any club or group. If I am out on the highway and come up on a club: 1st, without watching this, how am I to know that I cannot just proceed? 2nd, what gives anybody the right to tell me hold up, you cannot pass, on a public road? Not trying to be confrontational, refer back to my opening statement if you need. Just trying to understand.
Well, I sort of just told you. These are customs, traditions. Nothing to be afraid of and certainly not something to be bent out of shape over. Bikers, motorcyclists, bike enthusiasts, whatever you want to call yourself, there's a culture. These things are learned with time and it matters. It's just courtesy and respect.
Meh..definitely not afraid or bent out of shape. Yes you did just explain about traditions and such, of which I know something about traditions after 20 years of service. However, 2nd question is not addressed and that’s a big concern. Especially when somebody not affiliated like myself rolls on the same highway. Am I going to get harassed? Pulled over and talked to? Beat down by 30 guys because I don’t buy in? Sorry, that my friend is not acceptable. 🤷🏽. Again, not trying to be an ass, I’m just trying to understand more is all. I just happened onto your page and seemed like and is a lot of good information. I can leave if my curiosity is overbearing. ✌️
This is a public highway that you are talking about correct? Agreed, I'm not getting in-between their pack but I'm also not going to stay back and wait for their "permission" to roll on by. Respect goes two ways in my world.
Remember the shootings at the Canadian Parliament and War Memorial back in 2014? Because of the uptick in terrorist actions towards Canadian military at the time, we were under orders to go to and from work in civilian clothes for a couple of weeks. It was really weird. RIP Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent (RIP) was killed just a couple of days before in a targeted hit and run in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu home of Basic Military training for both Non-Commisioned Members (Enlisted) and Officers for the Canadian Armed Forces. I thought it was pretty cowardly for us to not wear our uniforms. It would’ve made more sense to arm us.

Happy anniversary! Have an outstanding weekend. Enjoy some alone time with Mrs. Monkey. She'll appreciate you for it. Safe rides! I'm actually going to be in Sturgis on or about 4 August I'm planning.
Just discovered your channel and appreciate the entertainment and the information, particularly the info in this video. Been riding now for 4 years and haven't found myself in a situation like this here in western Wyoming, but now I have some insight about how to handle it properly. Respecting others usually gets you respect in return.
In my experience the 1%ers will be travelling over the speed limit anyway so if you are passing then you are going well over the speed limit. Given that cops watch for these groups there is a fair chance they'll pick you off because it's easier than taking on the group. BTW I don't pass a group riding in formation. I'll hang back.
@@Badlander87X , you're another tough guy that needs to show up at the club house for church and tell em how it is. You scare the hell outta me, skippy.
@@robertrenfroe9182 Cops are stricter on speeding down here (Australia) so 15mph over would attract a lot of attention. I usually sit on around 5mph over which is within their tolerance unless they are in a shitty mood LoL.
This we make the rules attitude is why MC’s aren’t aloud in any bar downtown sturgis. Or deadwood. They are on a thin line as it is to even be aloud in town anymore. 😂
Had this experience with a 1% org in Michigan….Tailgunner was not having anyone close - I just got off at a different exit and took a different route….
I’ve been an ex-pat for the past two decades, so I have no real exposure to the MC culture. Watching your videos are educational. I think going to a rally sounds interesting. Thanks for the video.
My dad and my uncles were riding to a bike blessing back in the 90s. They rolled up on a pack of Outlaws, so while my Dad and one uncle stayed back, my other uncle blasted past without warning. Let's just say they put the fear of God into him when they caught up
New sub here, just found your channel and still learning some biker etiquette. I was passed by a few clubs on my way down to Daytona last Spring. I hit that right track and gave them plenty if room and they seemed cool with it. Me and the wife 2up on the road that's the last I need is to take an ass whipping for disrespecting a bunch of bikers. Ride hard and keep the shiny side up man!
I saw your "Patch" video just in time. Background I've been riding 40+ w/o mc association. My son was a hang around with a local 98 chapter for a while and recently moved out of statebut not before we attended a bike nite at a local dive where I was introduced to certain members in good standing. On a trip home he brought me a Lone Wolf patch and had it sewn onto my vest. Thanks to this video I will NOT be wearing said cut at a Club Sponsored event this evening. Too old to fight, too tired to run......
Didn’t you do a video on the Lone Wolf thing? What happens if you get enough Lone Wolfs together. Does that be come a club. Yea I know it’s a stupid question. I was headed to bike week one time, cruising up I-4 in the right lane by myself. All of a sudden I heard a couple of horns blowing behind me. I looked around to my left to see two guys on completely blacked outroad glide’s. and they did have cuts, and I couldn’t exactly tell what club was. What I thought was funny though is they made a passing gesture to me. I thought that was kind of strange since I was in the right lane. I just waved him on the way back.
Good info. Whether you disagree or not it is wise to steer clear of potential aggression. Boys will be boys so if you don't want to play then respect the " rules ". Thanks for helping us avoid an unecessary beat down, I appreciate it.
I am still very new to the whole biking scene thing ...all the rules and culture I think can be simplified as good old fashioned manners and respect for others
By respect for others you mean they require everyone kiss their ass and follow their bullshit rules else they want to beat them up... so nice so respectful
I've been riding since 1984 and can count the number of times that I've seen MC folks on one hand with fingers left over. Around here the Pagans are the ones I've seen.
I learned quite a bit about motorcycle clubs and some of the rules of the road from you, and it's very valuable information that I will never forget. Thank you for helping me learn.
Great advice! I just came across your channel recently. It sure is interesting and helpful information. On another video, you mentioned people who try to be who they are not usually get in trouble. And, rightfully so. I am a lone sport/naked bike rider, and even I hate those. We just have to be ourselves and respectful and considerate for others.
Yeah so the law, the actual law, says I can pass as long as I do so safely and appropriately and it isn't based on a permission slip from a "tailgunner". So I guess my question is how do you reconcile the two? You don't own the road and neither do I.
@@ProfessionalMonkey I believe respect should be earned. Just because a bunch of dudes grow their beards, spend all their time drinking in bars, and ride motorcycles full time doesn't grant them some sort of lordship over the roads. That being said, I believe in common courtesy and common sense. I think the jackasses that weave in and out of traffic are dumb and shouldn't do it and I think its not smart to pass a large pack. Where I live there aren't many roads that you could see well beyond 20-30 bikes, so it would be dumb to try to pass a large group. To me, respect is earned by providing more to a community than one takes from it, and a smelly old vest and a patch of a well known club doesn't quite get ya there in my opinion. As far as passing someone off and getting my ass kicked, I have 15 rounds ready to roll and usually a few spare mags along with a shitload of training from some of Uncle Sam's best savages. They might end up taking me out, but better believe I'd make a dent in their ranks. I don't like hurting people, but what I have seen from a lot of 1%ers is just plain bullying. Bullies all deserve to get put down. That being said, we have some good clubs around here and a lot of good people. The Veteran Riders have done so much for the community that they have earned my respect and the respect of everyone else. Respect comes from what you give, not what you are willing to take.
@@DontTreadOnMyLiberty spot on want respect earn it not expect it because of wearing some patch. Respect works both ways. From experience they big men in a pack not so tough singly.

Respect is a two way street until someone fails to show it. I hear far more stories about 1% ers demanding respect while not giving it. Pretty one sided if you ask me.
" my mummy said I can do whatever I like" said the 40 year old 1%er as he explained he was making extra road rules so you can't ride past him and his boyfriends on the highway.
Ummm... I am not a 1%er, I am much older than 40, and these rules have existed long before I, and no doubt you were born. I know everything I need to know about you. Respect, learn some, and stop being an internet tough guy.
@@ProfessionalMonkey So you meet another club 7 guys sitting there deciding if they should go beat up 1 person for wearing a patch. And I??? AM THE TOUGH GUY?
Recently came across your channel and I love it always great info and great videos in general. I am American Legion Rider member in Iowa your videos have done wonders for me learning to ride as part of unit . Have always ridden solo or with a buddy or 2 recently got my patch for the legion riders and this helped clear some things up for me
Ride with a SRC for sometime and learned so much about the 1% clubs. We show show respect to everyone and make friends along the way. Great information here!
I was riding on a 2 lane interstate with another bike and we came up on a long line of bikes riding in formation. Turns out they were Pagan’s and there must have been 100+. There was a truck following them. I figured he was part of the group because he was tight on them, like 5 feet away. My first thought was amazement, this was cool, you could hear them a mile away, before I could even see them, literally. We rolled up on them slowly. I was trying to figure out wtf was going on, all the while being struck by the awesomeness of it. The sound was unreal. Meanwhile, I’m an professional engineer, weekend-warrior, no patch, no cuts, no idea about any of this. And I’m on my BMW. My top goal at this point is not to get shanked. They were riding about 5 over and after about 15 minutes, as cool as it was, I wanted to pass them and be on my way. There was an open lane, but something in the back of my head was telling me to chill and stay back. Trust me, there was a line of cars/motorcycles behind us, probably thinking the same thing. Another 10 minutes go by and they pulled off, in formation, to a rest stop. That’s where I saw the Pagan patches, as I road on. Question: should I have passed them? I wanted to be respectful (and stay healthy) but they were riding slow.
Comments are turned off on acouple of the other videos. Much like you, I am a part of a MO. We don't have rockers, no 1% patches, we are able to display our state on the front of our cut being a national MO We get along with all 1%ers in our respective areas. Helping kids the best ways we can. Kudos to you brother, ride safe keep the shiney side up and the rubber side down
I wear a 3 piece cut, one of the largest veteran clubs, wear it everywhere , never a problem, I do give way to any other club when in riding alone or a pair, we figure we fought for the entire country, so we will fly anywhere , of course courtesy calls and protocol is always good, we tend to get along with everyone, thru mutual respect
My uncle who was in a club, and a Former V.P. told me he got out mostly because of politics an rules, and how much he was involved in day to day. He rides independent now, but he told me how many friends he lost.. he told me not to worry about riding motorcycles or joining clubs, theres so much B.S. an bad drivers. I can ride 2 wheels, i rode dirt bikes, mini bikes, mopeds, and drove some motorcycles.. & i will admit i dont have an endorsement. I was working on the endorsement! Then the state changed the rules, and i have to spend like $300 & go through a 2 day course! Veterans should have assistance or something to be able to get a motorcycle endorsement. I've been married 18 years, got a kid, i cant seem to raise the extra money to do that endorsement. My mom, dad, uncles, some cousins and my grandfather's all had motorcycles.. i really wish i could!
I think most members of motorcycle clubs would make great comedians. Anyone over 17 who's still in a gang is a bit of a joke. I mean, 'Sergeant in Arms'. Jesus wept.
My aunt passed away in the early 80’s, my cousins were the Penetrators M/C from metro Detroit. A guy cut into the funeral procession… 6 guys followed him. Never did find out what happened. Lol
Thanks, I have never run up on a pack, but I had a pack run up on me. Took roughly 15 miles and white knuckles for them to full pass. Had them in front, behind and beside on a two lane.
My Crew is not a 1%, but we run under Protocol so we do our best to be on good terms with all the other Clubs, especially the Dominant of the given region. Leads to some interesting situations, like being good to fly in some areas and being No Fly in another area, both areas under THE SAME MC but different Chapters. Like you said, we don't do territory so we are walking in THEIR world, respect where it is earned. Right now my Crew in our region is under Be Aware Flight Rules; No riding alone while Patched, be aware of your surroundings, etc. because of potential conflicts with a couple of MCs (supporters of a rival MC of our Dom) trying to push in. So far no issues have occurred for my Crew, knock on wood. Good stuff Monkey. Keep up the good work.
If you DO roll up on 1%ers they WILL BE rolling hard and tight. 80-90 mph. The road captain is in charge. If you are dumb enough to try to pass them DON'T.
Many years back I had a group of Harley riders ride up on me at night while I'm on a Honda cb750 on the expressway they never passed me but they was on my butt I can feel there vibration from the motors they was just that close mind you I wasn't wearing colors but was going 10mph over the speed limit I was so glad they exit and left my black azz alone I had 200 miles to go. It had to be over 50 of them.
Thanks for the tips on rolling up on patched groups. Been riding since 06, roughly 80k miles on my Harley and have only ran into this twice in the last year and half. Both times ran into groups close to home in KS. First time I didn't know anything about not passing them on the 4 lane highway, but I did and apparently set them off. They flew around me and slowed back down. Luckily for me, I looked in the mirror and seen a state trooper in my mirror. They did wave me to follow when they got off the toll road. I proceeded past and went to my destination. Last year at Sturgis I camped next to a motorcycle safety instructor and we talked about this and what to do if I run into it again. This year about 100 miles from home on my way back from Sturgis, I ran into a group of 2 patches and a prospect. I sat in the LH lane I was already in and they waved me by. Both times it was the same 1% patch. Wasn't sure if that was the correct protocol or not. So thank you for the info!
Only group I would join but I will not as I couldn't keep my hands off a few the ahs do to my childhood and other things. It wouldn't be a nice sight. Use to when I sold leathers at the flea market in Vegas in late 70s and early 80s different members would stop by with a few cold ones and sometimes come over for BBQ at my place. Everyone knew knew I didn't join anything and there was no trouble. It was people having beer and food as brothers and Sisters. Same when I move back to Oklahoma in the 80s my place in the country was just to enjoy and have a fuck Sturgis pig roast and do to everyone that came out it was no fly. Not many but around 20 or so. My cut is all Veterans patches supporting my Sister's and Brothers. Been a few place that they look close then smile.
@@georgekelly8900 no neither would I. Someone his comments about serving children and not claiming a territory just lead me to believe that's who he is with. And im sure they have some similarities to a 1% in the way they run the club. They also tend to hang around other 1% clubs and from what I've seen are shown as much respect from them as another 1% club would be.
@@kadoozie3567 Same general observation I've made over the years. My first wife and my brothers and sisters in law are abuse survivors. My current wife as well, and our daughter and one of her closest friends. My grandparents ran a foster home for almost 50 years as well, so I've seen how it affects the victims. And I thank God for BACA, and what they do, for those kids, and their families. Seeing how that fear melts away, and that strength returns to those kids, there is no price you can put on that. And when I see members, I walk over, shake their hand, and thank them for what they do. I also pray every night that the day comes when they are no longer needed, when all children are safe.
I liked what you said about the children you serve. Bravo! Every child needs to know someone has their best interest in mind. The children are our future. My wife and I are helping raise a family friend's grandson. His mother is fighting addiction, and we nearly lost him to the state. I've grown up along side this family and could not stomach the loss. No relation, and he knows. But to him we will always be grandma and grandpa. Sorry I got off topic, you spoke about something dear to my heart. We all should be doing more for the children.
Screw that they get the exact same respect as I give any other rider. If someone is coming up on you at speed move over and let them pass no mater if your in a club or not. Have passed a bunch while riding...I flash my lights and use turn signal letting them know I'm going for a pass. I few times they tried to chase me which was pretty comical as I was on my cbr1000.
Many years ago i used to Live in Montreal, i did a ride to Valdor from Montreal n back quite often and in the middle of some forest is a an impressive looking building owned by a local 1% chapter( i dont know if its ok to mention the name of the club). But i had a 1982 XJ550 seca, i had repainted black and sometimes it would leak fuel, to which i carried a screwdriver in my leather jacket( british lewis style) which was for tapping the no1 carb as i rode to try and would help to clear the leak. Anyway ,one time i was returning from Valdor back to Montreal and when i came upon this club house, as a large group of Harleys pulled out, all with their club stuff on and i had to slow down for them lol. Normally i would travel above the speed limit- to cut the journey time down. being ignorant to the protocols, i did seriously think ' id like to overtake this group' as they were sticking to the speed limit, but i couldn't see how i could overtake them in 'one pass' as i didnt want to ' cut in' as i thought that would be annoying. But then i also thought' knowing my luck , ill complete the over take and then a few miles down the bike would misfire and leak fuel.., slow to a crawl - i figured that many H.D riders might feel a bit unhappy that this leaky old xj550(Japanese crap to some) over took them all.. so i stayed back.. it was the longest 'follow' at the speed limit ive ever done on any bike ive rode. To this day i joke' when i was in Canada the only H.D i didnt overtake was a group of 1% club members. I dont recall if they invited me to pass, they did 'have an eye ' on me, i kept my distance.. eventuatly they turned off and then i wound the old XJ550 up to the speed i wanted.

To me riding is about freedom, too many rules to mess with any of that crap
I understand the issues between clubs. However, it just seems easier to not be a part of a MC or group so that the issues don’t follow you. I prefer to be able to ride where I want, drink with who I want, not be told where/with who I can ride, etc. To each their own, but I’d rather have the freedom to do what I want (and not have to pull over and takes my cuts off at certain spots).
When there is more than 2 man present, rules start to happen , if you have a group , rules become real , simple.
If u take it off for that reason you can't put it back on neither

I understand what you’re saying completely! Politics turned me off of the whole club scene, and while it’s worth it for some to wear colours, it wasn’t worth it for me

I stumbled across a couple of these videos. At first I thought it was parody, then realized the guy was serious. There's real men out there, and it's not LE!
I’ll be 60 tomorrow.
Been riding since 16 on the street. Prefer British twins.

Man. Ive been riding for years, ive never once waited to be waved on by a group/club. I simply cruise by them, giving them all a head nod/wave and none of them have ever had a issue, including 1%s.
Good for you.

I have been social distancing long before covid 19 happened.
Very good point.
just be aware of what is happening around you, and be respectful. If your club is up to date and active they will know what is going on.

Puuuuuusaayyy
@@Badlander87X , you're another tough guy that needs to show up at the club house for church and tell em how it is. You scare the hell outta me, skippy.
Smart way to play the game hang back and fly under the radar.
Not all of us scream down the road, like our pack does around 15 mph over usually
I ride an ADV / touring bike, if im out alone im armed with an M9 and 2 mags, better to have it and not need it vs needing it and not having it
Much respect for the wording "for the kids we SERVE" 👍
Live free and ride. Make your own rules, if you get in altercations, fight. If people crying about how you ride that's there problem. Live fee people.
If I end up being followed by a mc, does that make me the new road captain?
Yep! Remember your hand signals...
if they decide to pass you, just let em pass and chances are they will give you a wave to come up and take the tail..
simple fix... ride faster than groups will. you may come up on them but they wont come up on you.
@@ProfessionalMonkey lmao...Best answer
No… that means you’re being followed so better call your mummy….
Your absolute 💯 correct I've been club learned that early on it nothing but respect
You might have been fine, but why risk it, ya know?
Another outstanding and informative vid. Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Monkey! Here's to many more...🍻.
Congratulations on the anniversary. You guys do great things for those kids. St. Peter won't be asking y'all for ID
Dig your channel! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and know how. I appreciate your clear approach and speaking. Keep up the good work!!!
Great vid, great info, thank you! Happy anniversary to you and the missus......
Good info. Whether you disagree or not it is wise to steer clear of potential aggression. Boys will be boys so if you don't want to play then respect the " rules ". Thanks for helping us avoid an unecessary beat down, I appreciate it.
Thank you sir.
Wow these clubs act like children.... How dare you pass us on the highway.
Thanks for trying to help out the community.
God Speed and Blessings to You and Yours.
Thanks, you too!
I am still very new to the whole biking scene thing ...all the rules and culture I think can be simplified as good old fashioned manners and respect for others
I’ll agree with that.
You’re 💯 correct.
Im a supporter. LA County. Thank you for your service
Blocking the highway isn't being considerate.
Yeah so the law, the actual law, says I can pass as long as I do so safely and appropriately and it isn't based on a permission slip from a "tailgunner". So I guess my question is how do you reconcile the two? You don't own the road and neither do I.
Because I believe in respect.
do you i wouldnt worry about these boomers
Carry a gun and move on about your day, if some silly little trumped up overweight boomer wants to die because you spoiled his costume party be happy to oblige
Respect is a two way street until someone fails to show it. I hear far more stories about 1% ers demanding respect while not giving it. Pretty one sided if you ask me.
Show respect and you will receive respect in return, it’s easy doesn’t cost anything and it’s a lesson to employ in life.
Respect in return? Not always...
Have always ridden solo or with a buddy or 2 recently got my patch for the legion riders and this helped clear some things up for me
Awesome, thank you!
Ride with a SRC for sometime and learned so much about the 1% clubs. We show show respect to everyone and make friends along the way. Great information here!
Well said! Thanks!
I sure as hell would not have passed them, but I believe in protocol. Others have tantrums over it... I think you did right.
Sorry to hear that. A coffee can, drop change into it now and again, maybe soon enough you'll have the $300...
You are hilarious! You’d make a great comedian. You have an excellent delivery style.
Wow, thank you!
I think most members of motorcycle clubs would make great comedians. Anyone over 17 who's still in a gang is a bit of a joke. I mean, 'Sergeant in Arms'. Jesus wept.
Chuck Cribbs: I agree! Aptly stated.
Looks a bit like Jonathan Winters with a beard.
How old are you, because this sounds like school yard behaviour.
On several occasions, I've passed groups wearing a patch on the interstates, never waited to be waved on, never had a problem.
Most aren't the 1% gangs. Most mc's are old fat guys dressing up.
Not personally interested in clubs, and so found your vids sooo helpful! Thank you very much and happy anniversary.
Thanks!
So if a police bike comes up on a 1% biker pack, does the tail gunner motion for him to drop back and wait for a wave by?
If you DO roll up on 1%ers they WILL BE rolling hard and tight. 80-90 mph. The road captain is in charge. If you are dumb enough to try to pass them DON'T.
Many years back I had a group of Harley riders ride up on me at night while I'm on a Honda cb750 on the expressway they never passed me but they was on my butt I can feel there vibration from the motors they was just that close mind you I wasn't wearing colors but was going 10mph over the speed limit I was so glad they exit and left my black azz alone I had 200 miles to go. It had to be over 50 of them.
Great video PM. Presented as usual with succinct and relevant anecdotes. Informative as always, check you and Mrs PM tomorrow night. 🍻
In Wildwood NJ a few years ago there were "no colors" signs in some bars and restaurants, but they were ignored by some.
😆 that's just terrible to see
Thanks for the tips on rolling up on patched groups.
Guessing you're B.A.C.A. No need to verify or deny but I have a lot of respect for those guys. Great organization.
Good group but I wouldn't consider them a 1% club.

You can live life that way if you want to, up to you.
Congratulations Monkey, My condolences Mrs. Monkey on your anniversary!
RESPECT and COMMON SENSE?
I ride alone. I don't ride fast enough to over take groups. 1% clubs usually travel quite quickly!!!
I do not wear a watch. I don't take myself to seriously. I'm bald so getting wind in my hair means my beard. PGR and Rolling Thunder are the only groups I ride with for our troops or the Gold Star Families.
When I see groups come up behind me, I pull off and let them by. Veteran clubs or groups I stand and salute, mostly because many are flying Ol' Glory!
You are on your freedom machine, relax and don't let BS ruin your time. Most times I find scenery worth getting a closer look at.
Mr. Monkey, Thank You to you and your Brothers and Sisters! Children are precious cargo and our ultimate responsibility. Pilomiya!
