it's good to see some of you guys are still around. use to look forward to seeing the show. don't know why the Discovery channel couldn't keep it going. be safe
We need biker build off again! Damn i loved those series
You talking about your friend Nick filling a fuel tank reminds me of a co-worker I had at a Honda/Kawasaki dealership years ago. One mechanic, Jerome, always had a cigarette and I went back in the shop to talk to him about something and he had his hand, with lit cigarette in it, resting on a rolling fuel caddy. He sadly had a stroke some years later. Don't smoke, kids.
Nick was a wild man. His smoking made me nervous. A lot.
I could see the pain in your voice my bro at the end. I lost my older brother in 2011 the pain never goes away you just learn to hide it better.
😥🇬🇸🤘
Yeah. That's still hard, twenty years later. I think about Larry every day
@@BillyLaneChoppers yep. Just watching a lady biker channel called onherbike one word shes traveling on the roads we ride here in New Zealand not far from the annual Burt Monroe challenge. Worth a look to check out our roads latest one is one of the coolest ride in the world. Worth a holiday when the have the Burt Monroe challenge on. keep smiling my bro. I think my brother would like to know I still have the wind in my hair and my finger in the air. I also have a 97 bad boy 420,000k on an island out in the Pacific.
😁🇬🇸🤘
Hell ya man i still watch the build offs love them! It gave me the biker itch now I’m in the process of building my own bike. 🤙🏼
Good luck with your build. I've got a bunch of HOW TO videos here, and always working on more
Thanks for sharing the story!! I really enjoy looking at your collection in the background of your videos.
You're welcome. I'm turning all of those into board track racers
@@BillyLaneChoppers Nice!! Excited to see some vids on the board track builds.
You and Indian Larry were the best. I appreciated the choppers you built (off the wall ideas), but Larry’s bikes were cool also. Have a couple of original magazines that featured both bikes you had featured in them. Same with Jesse James first feature bike. Holding onto them. PS, your article on making a jockey shift from a cable clutch helped me a lot on my 05 RK. Been 7 years and not a problem by following what you did.
Awesome, I'm glad I could help you. Larry only built eight custom bikes, and they were very special and reminded me of a different time
just bought my first Harley-Davidson ever .rode my entire life always rice burners but can't wait to Journey Down customizing my 87 Heritage Softail freshly rebuilt 80 evo with some upgrades BUT! love your work mr lane
Thank you for watching. Congratulations, welcome to the air cooled V-twin world. EVO Softails are amazing. Take a look at my Worlds Fastest FatBoy & Worlds Baddest BadBoy videos
I love the build when the seat of your britches started to catch fire .
One of my buddies from back home raced MX in the 80s, full-on off his rocker. Andre’s dad had a welding shop by this little river, “riverside welding” did lots of work for the municipality’s machines and for farmers etc.
They had a 45gal drum that his dad would put old fuel into, no lid, rain water etc in there. Andre decided one day to check the air / fuel ratio with a match.
He kept racing but gave up on fuel testing 😁
I "burp" gas tanks with flame before I weld them, it's always a rush
Thanks for doing a breakdown of that episode Billy. The tension between you and Mike B was obvious. Take care man.
Your one of the best on a bike all the way around your knowledge is incredible.
loved Billy's ways/personality, got a knucklehead full back tattoo in 2005 inspired by those builds
That is AWESOME
That's cool Mondo came and helped you out!! Hope everything is going well Billy. Stay safe and have a nice evening!!
Mondo is a legend
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I would love to hear more stories from the build off days. Please consider doing another video in the future. Thanks
I'm doing more. I've already done three videos about the prior Build-Offs I did to this one. Search through my videos here
@@BillyLaneChoppers will do. Thank you sir!
My favorite biker build off bikes were Billy Lane and Indian Larry !
Nobody could build bikes any close to their builds!
If I could ever afford a chopper I would have a Billy Lane hub less wheel cross over chopper with an Indian Larry style chopper !
Golden age Billy. History was made. We love that you respect all of your fellow builders. ✌️👍🤙🏁
Thank you. That was a really special time
One of the living legend in the chopper industries! And yeah still remember these episode against Mike brown (and that hammer too! Haha). Both are great but Choppers Inc are Awesome! ⚡
Ps-Missin' that dreadlock! let's dreadlock again billy! Hehe🤘
I love untold stories. Thanks for keeping us up to speed.
Several more coming this o
This year
can't believe the hubless wasn't more popular! those wheels are so sick!!!
High on fire (Burning down and watching this a perfect Sunday, you Rule DUDE
Sounds like a good Sunday, thank you
Loved the show loved the back story and that you didnt put a spin on it!
No need to spin it. There never was. The producers were always looking to inject some Hollywood spin. We built those bikes in a very short period of time, then rode them a very long way. The drama they sought was bound to manifest on the highway.
i would love to see you build another hubless bike and document it. i loved the biker build offs so much b ack in the day they were so inspiring.
I'm actually doing that now. It's a 1963 Panhead. I've been filming it for months. should have some video up later this year.
Thank you for sharing this Billy!! Great stuff man!
You're welcome, I appreciate you watching
I loved that episode of Biker Build Off. The no love ride. I can't find it on UA-cam though.
“No love ride”. I like that
Good memories.. didn't realize about artificial tensions the show created.
👍🏾 Great that choppers have made a🪄 come back... Born Free. Says it all 🇺🇲
They tried with me, but I’m not an actor
I always loved watching the shows
These were good, the riding sequence were excellent
That was one of the great build off back in the day 👍👍
The riding shots were exquisite
That episode for some reason is removed from.youtube, impossible to find it but I love that bike Billy built.
I don’t know why they have been removed
Do a breakdown on your experience facing the legend Indian Larry, now thats a real story which not so many builders in this era would nvr know the feeling on facing such legend
Scroll through my videos, I did that one last summer
I missed these bike build off shows❤❤🤘🤘. I10 still rough .
What an amazing video, dang Bro this behind the scenes is amazing
Very cool man, super cool flashback.
Great job Billy, thx for sharing
You're welcome. I appreciate you watching
This was a really good video, I remember that biker build off episode but is real cool finding out the backstory
There's so much more to tell about all of the Build-Offs. More to come
remember watching this on the old crt tv set back in the day looked up to you
It’s been a long time. Thanks for watching my update
That kickstand thing happened to me (I think) back in 79 on a ironhead Sportster I went into a pretty easy curve, next think I know I'm on somebody's front lawn with the bike about 50ft away in the middle of the road. Course I was hammered at the time so that could have contributed to it.. Lol.. Anyways good video..
Crazy. I’m not used to riding a 850 pound motorcycle, that thing high-sided on me and sent me off hard
I remember that episode you could actually tell there was real tension, but I never knew why 👊🏻👊🏻🇺🇸🥓
Always love Billys work!
Thank you for watching
That was Really Good !! Great Times !!
Thank you. I enjoyed going back
