    I purchased this machine some time ago - during the early bird promotion. It has allowed my wife and I to not only enjoy the very best coffee, but also expand our pallets. The only glitch we have come across is that when a firmware update is needed - the brewing process will pause. Other than that it is an amazing machine and has become our go to for great coffee. This was one of the best reviews on the xBloom Studio. Salute!

    I backed the original and once the studio was announced I got it and sold my Original metal one. I'm sad that th materials are less durable but the trade off for more functionality was worth it. I enjoy the ritual but sometimes i'm just too busy and this is so convenient while also allowing me flexibility to use my own beans, the grinder standalone, or to make tea with the hot water dispenser.

      I backed the original as well. Originally, I had zero FOMO about the studio, but as time goes by and UA-cam keeps tossing me these videos, I start wondering if I should do what you did as well. I know the studio is more versatile, but are there any particular features which the original lacks that you find yourself constantly using?
      Most of me thinks it's not worth it. I have a good grinder to use for other methods when I'm not using the x Bloom, I have scales and an electric kettle from before I owned the X Bloom that I'm not going to get rid of just because I get a new coffee machine that can do those things as well. I use my X Bloom once or twice a week because usually I brew a pour over at work and don't make coffee at home, only on the weekends. I don't particularly use pods or their app - I always have a bag from one of my city's local roasters, so I scan the default recipe off of the X Bloom's flat bottom dripper.
      My brain keeps telling me not to replace something that is perfectly functional. But consumerism! It's like erosion. Super slow, but it never stops wearing away at you...

    Very interesting review and results. I own a similar Studio. As you have mentioned it produces incredible coffee from whole coffee beans. Although I do not consider ground coffee pods offered by other brewers to be acceptable substitute for whole beans. And the Studio has an excellent brewing temperatures and circular stream for my personal aromatic and organic teas. Teas need specific closely monitored water temperatures to provide the perfect balance of flavor and aroma. The Studio is one of the best machines to use for fine teas.

    Does it work with other brand of paper coffee filters or it has to be its own brand ?

    11:15 The X-Bloom's dripper (or at least the original's) uses standard Kalita 155s that you can get from anywhere. I got a hundred pack off Amazon that i still haven't used up as i average using it maybe once a week (really only sees use for guests or on the weekends as my daily routine is to make a pourover at work), but later found them in my local big box grocery chain.

    At 16:25 if you zoom in you'll notice the filter has pulled away from the pod. I've seen that happen in other videos as well. Would that not allow water to bypass the grounds and significantly impact the extraction process?

    Very interesting review as usual. As a side note, on my annual trip back to L.I., Riverhead to be precise. My sister and I went to Hellenic Cafe for lunch on Tuesday 16 July. I had been wanting to go for several years. The food was excellent. It was well worth the trip from Carson City, NV. I plan to make this a stop every summer when I am back on The Island.

    Great video! If it can truly grind fine enough for espresso, I’m in. That will allow me to remove one thing from the countertop and not feel the wrath of my wife for adding something else.. LOL!!

    in order to have a true test, in your RPM test, you should have brewed them all the exact same way. YOu did the 60 rpm one with spiral and the 90 rpm with straight pour, those two pours in and of themself will affect the extraction rate.

    Can you set a default preset without using the app? For example, I brew every pour over exactly the same anyway, I want to set a recipe on the xbloom and never touch it again tbh and just press play. Can you do that?

    Df54 is 230 usd. Pretty good grinder and im suspicious of people overstating the value of the grinder.

    • @AwareHouseChef
      @AwareHouseChef  4 місяці тому

      Why? I just bought super expensive burrs for my Bunn from SSI and I am thinking of switching back to the ones that are made by Bunn. The grinder is a very important part of getting the most out of your coffee in my experience. I find that it is personal but when a coffee grinder creates fine grounds that are all over the place in size , the coffee really does taste bad.

    • @taejaskudva2543
      @taejaskudva2543 2 місяці тому

      I agree that maybe $350-$500 is high for the grinder in the machine, but I'd say it's close to as good as the 1ZPresso K-Plus that I keep at work, a conical which was $250 without having a motor or computer controlled integration into a system. And it's definitely better than the Encore ($130 nowadays?) whose praises I sang as an entry level grinder when I passed it on to my mother-in-law. I don't have an Acia or anything, but the machine's scale is better than either of my $30 kitchen scales, and I think my Hamilton Beach electric kettle was $60 or $70. So call all of that $250, which I definitely think is UNDERvalued, and you've still got a coffee machine and app that perform way over the $250 balance for total cost. Not for everybody, and $500 is by no means inexpensive, but for people who are lucky enough to be able to splurge on nice things, yeah, I'd say the X Bloom is decent value.
