Well....love it...But eh...Bryan Ferry...Especially Ladytron, in every dreamhome a heartache and mother of Pearl. But also a different genre. Love love love Kinks.
England's Greatest Ever Songwriter, no argument there. Richard Thompson his greatest English challenger. Brian Wilson, Warren Zevon and Neil Young are also in the mix as best to walk the earth.
As an American, It's really unbelievable to me how many great bands came out of the UK during the British Invasion. When I put lists together in my head of my favorite bands, the top 5 are all British as well as 9 of the top 10. I've loved the Kinks for close to half a century. To this day, I still feel like they're the most underrated band ever. They may have been overshadowed by The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, etc.., but to many of us who know their music well, they're just as good or better. Unbelievable songwriting and harmonies. God Save the Kinks!
I’m amazed how many big hits they had I’ve only just discovered they sang many classics I recognised, probably my favourite band now, I’m British and I never knew about them by name

Words fail me for many things in love. Nevertheless, I have always tried to put my love for my wife into words. Once we had an argument and I didn't know what to do. So I put on the single "Days" by the Kinks. My wife understood me without my words. Thank you for the song KINKS!!!
My favourite group from the sixties ,this is my husband and my song 🌹 we have been together since 1967 and had a great life together loved kinks so much best group ever Shirley h Darlington England 💝✌️🌹😘✌️
I've been to more concerts than I can count but the gold star goes to The Kinks for their concert in The National Stadium in Dublin. Their rapport with the audience was amazing. The place rocked.
l always cry when l hear this it reminds me of my old home in dereham Norfolk l did not want to leave that home! it had a big woods off my back garden!
I always loved this song so much. Remembered when this song came out in 1968, it swept me of my feet immediately. 💖 I was 14 years old and just allowed going to discotheques with my 3 years older brother who really disliked to take his younger sister. ut men, did we have some great times. (Ha, I think my parents thought we both would behave and looking out for each other. Ok, we did look out for each other.......😉
This song brings me back to my teens when my sister and I - we were very close then - would listen to The Kink Kronikles and talk about all the things that made this band's work, and that album particularly, so special. So many happy afternoons spent that way that I'll always hold in my heart. I want to say to the Kinks themselves, "thank you for the days..."
Great comment! After all these years the Kink Kronikles are still one of most very favorite albums. Ray wrote Days about the time one of his sisters moved away to Australia. He knew it aould be likely they would not be together much, or at all after that. He told her "thank you for being my sister". Anyone not familiar with what tremendous talent the Kinks were in the 60s, would do well to check this double album out. The band was virtually blackmailed the last half of that decade in the States. Ray Davies, still one of the best story tellers in rock!
@@edmondhankiewicz5518J'adore les Kinks. La richesse de leur répertoire, leur cheminement musical varié, les paroles marquées par la finesse du regard de Ray Davies sur le monde comme sur lui-même en font mon groupe préféré. Old fan for ever
My ex was 11 years older than I am and a huge Kinks fan. He introduced me to their music and the wonderful talent that is Mr Ray Davies - so that was one good thing that came out of the relationship ; ) This is my favourite - pure class.
Should have been a number one single...has everything The Kinks are famous for - melody, loss and yearning, a slightly lazy Ray vocal and in built nostalgia that even now in 2022 is timeless and fresh sounding....
If they were not banned in America from roughly 1966 until 1970 these gentlemen would have been more popular then the Beatles. Ray Davies is the best storyteller I know in rock music. Total innovators these dudes. Play anything. Greatest rock band ever
Love this song, so simple but powerful. You don't need complex riffs or weird chords to get through to people And I reckon Dave looks feminine enough here for me to crush on him 🥰😁
This is one band that, despite all their success (and believe me there was a lot) , they stayed so very true to their roots.. Something to remember. So Ray Davies & the rest of the Kinks. I for one thank you for THE DAYS ! ! Peggy Wood (Aotearoa)
I lost the woman I had been with for 25 years. I know that she is no more but if she were this song would well express my feelings and I would want her to hear it.

A sort of reflective memory: inspired in the song Days by The Kinks Last night I went walking round the city. Since the sun went down I started to ask myself about things I had been wondering for ages, usually, in bed before falling asleep. I tried to remember carefully each and every movement of my spirit, all the thoughts I believed they had vanished in the air. In the end it was all about days. Days lived with anguish, tormented days and the happy and funny days too. And all of a sudden I knew very well that those days which I had spent living against all odds were beautifully shining in my head. But, actually, it was the hours of the days what worried me. And the sense of wasting valuable time of a life that worth nothing at all. Anyway, I still keep in my bedside table drawer, a cassette that contains only one song: the first song I wrote. During those days I would stay all day long in bed, reading and thinking of things and stuff that went through my mind. Sometimes I would die in a dream to wake up the next day and gather my will and power to go on living no matter what was then of me and humanity to become of despite of all despair feeling of nothingness, which in the end I realized it was creative time to record in my heart, time spent with love and spent with no reason at all, cause in the end, life, is meant to be spend off.
as Paul McCartney said recently in an interview, notwithstanding the trauma he suffered as a result of his mothers early death, he believed his mother would have wanted him to have had a good life; and he used these thoughts as an inspiration to try and live a good life. Let it be, attributed to both his Roman Catholicism that his mother had him baptised into, and his mother Mary, have underpinned his will to survive, and thrive: ... " in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be ..."

Just as beautiful in 2024 as it was in 1968. Man, the band rolled out so many Classics ❤
If this was written by Beatles this would have 250 million views and be praised as greatest song ever written
People respond too strongly, both in the positive and in the negative, to the Beatles. And the Kinks deserve more attention than they get.
Yes, it's right up there with In My Life!
because they are √uwish
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Beatles, but that is so true lol
True
Beatles are overrated
Reminds me of my husband who sadly passed away and the memories that we shared
I hope this beautiful song helps. . .
This should be dedicated to ALL OUR MUMS, who gave us life, and protected us when we were kids! Dont you think? Thanks mum .RIP. ❤
Ray Davies is for sure a genius ! And the Kinks are such an incredible band !
You are so right, Ray is much too much underrated artist
Thank you Dave for 47 years of happy marriage and 51 years together RIP my darling. Lynn xx
The most beautiful song I've ever heard about accepting loss of a loved one!
The Kinks are the best band of all time.
Exactly!
Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day, believe me
I bless the light
I bless the light that lights on you, believe me
And though you're gone
You're with me every single day, believe me
Days I'll remember all my life
Days when you can't see wrong from right
You took my life
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me
But it's all right
Now I'm not frightened of this world, believe me
I wish today could be tomorrow
The night is dark, it just brings sorrow, let it wait
Thank you for the days

Thanks for lyrics here 👏❤️💋🥳👍
Just a wonderful song, Ray is among the greatest songwriters in all history.
Ray Davies is a great songwriter many people don't realise this
David Bowie said there is no such thing as a bad Kinks song.
Yes i feel the same...
They're a musician's band, for sure.
I guess, I agree with David B. 😉
Ray is special
Makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. a beautiful song
The kinks who else pure gold
A golden classic!
And brings a tear to my eyes when I listen to this song, because remembering those who are sadly no longer with us.
My dad passed away recently. This song says as much as any song can about the feelings of loss and celebration
I agree i played at my dads funeral
Ray Davies' smile around 1:06 is possibly the most impossibly charming and loveable thing a human face has ever done
The BBC did a tremendous job to use this (and Ray Davies solo version) in the closing montage of Euro 2024. Classy song!
I will be burying my father in law to this song Tuesday thank you Arthur Pearce a truly lovely gentleman right to the end, great tune to celebrate your life, gonna miss you mate 💙
Had it played at my Dad's funeral, in the woodland.
That is so sweet
I've earmarked it for my own funeral. Not too soon I hope LOL.
Perfect choice - and I'm sorry for the loss of your father.
A beautiful song. To me he is singing about death. Only Ray Davis could write something this moving.
I totally agree
Absolutely!
About a great person met in a far away past?
Was it about his sister Renee, when she died of rheumatic heart disease?
