Slayer was my favorite band for years starting in the late eighties. I haven't listened to them much in the last ten or fifteen years but now am having a total Slayer revitalization period. I have a new appreciation for Jeff and his playing style.
Absolutely true, Jeff was the composing genious of the band and Dave was Slayer's driving force and motor nerve, without them Slayer is nothing but a band trying to keep alive using its glorious past, I have nothing against Tom, I have seen many interviews with him and he is quite funny and humble, KK is another thing and I cannot stand him - he was always like the orchestra director and lately the one who decided the finances inside the band, money corrupts people and he preferred money than keeping Dave in the band, Paul is an excellent drummer but Dave is in another league, the best drummer Slayer has ever had.
Juan Iparraguirre Slayer at its best is really Jeff's riffs, Tom's singing and Dave's driving drumming, plus lyrics by Jeff or Tom.

Jeff definitely had that punk and more dissonant chromatic stuff that I liked. But Kerry and Jeff paired up, pushed each other into some wicked stuff. Hell Awaits, the song, you can really tell who came up with what there, and to me that is one of the coolest Slayer songs.
At Dawn They Sleep is my fave on that one

KK fired Dave because he only got 67.000 USD for the WHOLE 2013 TOUR, Dave wanted to renegotiate his payments, KK refused and Tom looked in the opposite direction - Dave was fired just before the Australian dates, being replaced by Jon Dette.
to this day angel of death has some of the best thrash guitar riffs, and the solo... there is nothing else on earth like the angel of death solo

знаете, Джефф был очень-очень хорошим парнем. он был очень-очень хорошим. он был добрым, знаете.. однажды, дайте-ка я расскажу вам одну историю, - она характеризует Джеффа, как личность. однажды - тогда мы были совсем молодыми - это был 84й-85й - мы были в туре с Venom, - тур Venom, Exodus и Slayer. итак, был вечер (такой же, как вчерашний), я слегка выпил, и я был очень уставший, устал, потому что вёл машину весь вечер, потом мы выпили, я пошёл в туалет в клубе, присел на унитаз, и меня "срубило", я уснул.. ..а группа не может меня найти тем временем, они не знали где я.. Джефф заглянул под дверь в туалете, и нашёл меня, и начал вырывать дверь, стал тянуть её на себя, чтобы вытащить меня оттуда, с криками "Дэйв, просыпайся!". а сам тянет дверь на себя.. а дверь не открывается.. потом он мне рассказывал эту историю, и сказал:"всё, что нужно было сделать - толкнуть дверь от себя (а не тянуть её на себя, дверь просто открывалась в другую сторону)".
и когда он меня вытащил, и повёл меня, я сказал всего одну вещь:"Джефф, штаны-то хоть на мне?", а он сказал:"неееееет!".. а на следующий день, я просыпаюсь, и оказывается, что я спал, и вместо подушки у меня под головой была стопка блинов, так же блины у меня были рассованы по карманам - вот так вот надо мной подшутили. Джефф и я очень много угорали, фехтовали зубочистками - было весело..
Джефф не брал уроков игры на гитаре, по крайней мере я не помню, чтобы он брал какие-то уроки.. он был самоучкой, в его гитарных рифах было нечто особенное, и это шло от него на уровне внутренних ощущений. у Керри такой же стиль игры. стиль же Джеффа был более узнаваемым и запоминающимся, чем стиль Керри, как мне кажется - он написал лучшие вещи группы..
Да уж, Джеффа очень сильно не хватает.

jeff is missed but to me i love Lombardo and Bostaph idk which on is better. two different styles. And kerry is not jeff. i could always tell a jeff lead vs kerry lead.

Can't the average adult in Italy speak English? It's 2017 and they can't speak english? English is not my mother language, but I learned english just by watching movies. So come on, do they learn English in school in Italy?
All that translation makes the interview fucked up.
What's the year have to do with anything? Not everyone can at least understand English in a fluent conversation, and they don't really HAVE to, I mean they have Italian. And if they learn English in school, I doubt it's on a bilingual level, and even if so, some people just don't care or aren't good at it, the same way a 2 y/o can pronounce Spanish words better than Americans, even though they have Latin Americans all around their country. So don't assume people around the world has to be fluent in English enough not to need an interpreter. Are you that fluent in other languages?
I'm italian and no, most of italians don't speak nor understand English. Moreover, they are undisciplined and unable to keep their mouths shut. As you can see they were interrupting all the time, instead of shut up when a legend was speaking!
You do realize they’re in Italy, right? The official language is Italian and there are hundreds of local dialects which most people speak as well. English is not an official language there. Even if you learned some of a language in school you don’t necessarily understand a native speaker speaking quickly and using slang.
