    I went with a 6S and I'm a big guy. I also have a decent mechanical watch collection that I also wear a good bit and even the 6 was just huge compared to a normal mens watch. The 6s is actually a little bigger than a lot of popular men's sports watches like the Rolex Sub (5 digit, about the same as a 6 digit), Seamaster and Speedmaster. Also in the same ballpark as many Seiko divers which are also commonly worn men's watches. To me it's the closest multi-day sports watch that actually looks like a watch and not a weird computer on my wrist.

    Had my 6s Pro for 3 months now. Love it!
    I run about three times a week, and it offers so much during and after a run.
    Mapping and courses are phenomenal!
    As a daily watch its also perfect for me being light and having a low profile.
    The watch face is small, but everything I need to view is there.

    I wanted to find a comparison between standard Garmin watches and their S versions. Frankly, I didn't expect anyone to bother making a video to lay out the differences. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there actually was a really good review. I tried all three of the sixes, and the plastic 945.
    My final choice was the fenix 6 pro sapphire. the 6s was way to small for my taste, the 6x was so big and bulky on my wrist. The 945 was just 30 less than the 6 pro sapphire at Christmas, that was a no brained and I’m not going to purchase another plastic watch.
    Great videos

      Completely agree! 100%. And you got the F6 sapphire for $30 more than 945?! That is a crazy good deal, that is definitely the best of the bunch, and a lot of them had higher quality colorization to the screens (there were a lot of F6 versions that had a bluish black backdrop). Completely agree! Thanks for saying

    5mm is huge difference for a watch. 47mm case diameter for most people is massive. I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist and the 42mm fits perfect. The 47mm felt like having a plate in my wrist.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  2 роки тому +1

      Yes good point. I've found it also comes down to what you are used to. Some people have just worn larger watches for a while and gotten used to it - the 6S casing size is excellent for the general normal population wrist size.

      @@fitgearhunter You're 100% right. I've noticed that with a lot of reviews of Garmin watches and other smart watches. Different perspectives. Since Garmin marketed the 5s, 6s and 7s as womens watches, most people start with the bigger variations of the watch and they get use to the big size. They should of marketed these differently and I guarantee more men would of started with the 42mm. I've seen many reviews where a guy would review a 42mm version saying it's too small for their wrist when it usually looks better in my option.

    Thank you! So happy to have found your review which focused on the size difference. Can’t try on at the local shops, and I’ve struggled between the 6s and 6, even after purchasing the 6s solar. I appreciate that you mention both your and wife’s wrist sizes, as this allowed me to relate to my own wrist. This helped so much! The only possible improvement would be to include side by side photos of both watches on the same wrist. Despite your comments, I feel the display looks more crisp on the 6s in this video. Perhaps it appears different IRL vs. on camera, tho. Again, thanks so much for this review!

    My analog is a Breitling 812 GMT, that's a 48mm diameter, as far as analog watches go it is considered one of the largest vintage watches in diameter.
    I think the question buyers need to be asking themselves is am I buying a tool to fulfil a purpose, or am I buying an adornment.
    Oh and choose stainless, titanium may be a few grams lighter, but it is as soft as butter compared, there is a reason vintage watches in stainless cases have lasted more than 50 yrs of work.

    Classic case of Form over function I guess. I really like and envy the aesthetics of the 6 but the 6s is just way more comfortable to wear 24-7 for crossfit, running, playing sport and definitely more comfortable to sleep with. Since those are the main reasons for me to get a fitness tracker I went with the 6s. Definitely needs longer bands though 🤦‍♂️

    I'm a man with small wrists. I found my previous watch, the Forerunner 645, to be perfect. I bought a 745 (which I'm wearing right now) but the battery life is pretty abysmal - even after turning off things like instant HR display and seconds on the watch face, and only about 2 hours of non-GPS activity tracking, the battery will be dead after 5 days. That's about what I got out of my FR645 when it was 3 years old! Also, my FR645 went in the trash because the plastic case cracked (right where it holds the band) and I'm hesitant to invest in another plastic watch in this price range. So, I ordered a 6S Pro... Eagerly waiting it's arrival. I think it's the perfect middle ground for me in this situation. It helps that it's 30% off for the holidays!

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  2 роки тому

      Yes sir! It will definitely hold up better in battery, and if not you can always consider the jump to the 945 LTE. The new tech/sensors make it great, but I can’t go with it for the same reason - have to have more durability.

      Came across your comment and can relate 100%. My beloved Forerunner 645 Music of three years also cracked at one of the lugs. I was able to miraculously super glue it back together, but I'm not sure how long it'll hold. So I went ahead and ordered a new Fenix 6s after doing some research. Got it for a steal of a deal! I'm hoping it has as close to the same fit as the FR645 as possible given that I plan to wear it all the time. I've got small wrists and anything larger will look silly. Can't wait for a metal build!

    Excellent review, thank you! So, I tried the 6S, and yes, too small. Not only do I find the 20mm bands a bit too narrow for my tastes, I almost can't get the band fastened comfortably around my wrist! Honestly the 945 seems the most comfortable of the three, but I'm afraid I don't care for the plastic aesthetic. Also, I like the way the Fenix software does widgets. So it is the 6 for me.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  3 роки тому +3

      1000% agree. I decided to send it back because I couldn’t handle the narrow bands and had the exact same issue trying to close them. I purchased the extra long band, which would work fine, but overall it just felt too small. Waiting for the Garmin to release some more 6 solar titanium variants to purchase one in black hopefully. And you can adjust the 945 to show widgets at a glance like you see in the F6, just so you know. Honestly I think the F6 is the way to go, because I feel the same about the plastic casing and the smaller screen of the 945.

      One measurement I found missing on all smartwatch videos is the lug to lug distance.
      That definitely determines how a watch wears on the wrist.
      For example, a 47mm diameter case with a 50mm lug to lug will wear smaller than a 42mm and 50mm lug to lug. The opposite is true if you take a 47mm diameter watch with a 48mm lug to lug.
      Do you know what's the lug to lug of both watches?

    The sweet spot for me was the 735XT at 44.5mm in diameter. The 6S is just a bit too small and the 6 is just a bit too big. No Goldilocks size for me unfortunately but the with the 7 now available I'll probably get the 6S on sale. I had the Fenix 5 and 5S and returned both but the 5S had those long lugs which made the watch look awful. With the lug issue rectified on the 6S I'll take another punt on the smaller version. I've also owned many mechanical watches and prefer smaller over bigger for comfort and general fit and feel. I think modern styles and marketing have made the trend for larger watches to be considered normal but they are so ungainly for every day wear IMHO. The bigger screens are more practical for sure. I think the 6S could/should be thinner, which would make it more comfortable and look better too. Just 2mm bigger in diameter and 2mm slimmer would be perfect for me Garmin if you are listening.😀

      Glad it helped! I definitely think you will get more battery life out of the 6S, and 1 million more functions. Plus the back light is adjustable and I think set at 20 or 30% you’ll have the same brightness as the 245. I would probably look at that one before jumping straight to the full 6. Thanks!

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  3 роки тому +1

      Yes honestly I totally agree with you. Except I just have grown weary of plastic casing. The 745 at least uses 22 mm bands, the 20 mm bands on the 6S just seems so small. And I think you can convert the 745 to quick fit, I can’t remember if it has screw pegs or not. Last - For the price of any of these I think I would want for mapping though
