In Canada there is a $1250 difference between a used 5X and a new 7X sapphire. It's insane. I had a 5X before and sold it for an Apple Watch series 5. I don't regret it, as it was a learning experience. I want a Garmin watch again. I liked your video a lot by the way. You're just laid back and calm, and it's a breath of fresh air compared to so many over the top, overly excited UA-camrs that try too hard. I myself UA-cam, but I try to stay calm...generally.
I just recently bought a 5x. Wish I had bought one a few years ago. Mostly using it to monitor sleep. Now as a big guy with big wrists, I not only have no problem with the size, but I have no problem with sleeping with it on my wrist. Nothing about the 7x is important to me based on your comparison. Thanks for doing this!
very good, i have the 5x too, and i am still "in consideration", your comment about the thickness and comfort were very important to me, exactly your comment confirmed how i feel about sleeping with the 5X. this helped me a lot thanks!!
my fenix 5x map display stopped working and I had to pay Garmin $180 for a refurbished replacement, I guess I'll be rocking the 5x until the 9x comes out lol
I’ve been using my 5x since 2018 and it’s still going strong. Definitely worth it but only if you get it for a very low price. $100-200 I think is fair. I’ll be upgrading to 7X though hopefully soon.
Nice review. I have a 6 pro and just bought a used 5x for my son. To tell you the truth I really don't notice any difference at all other than the battery life and the slightly smaller screen on the 5x... but a week of battery life is plenty... not really worth paying more for longer than that unless you are climbing Everest for three weeks... but in most cases you can pack a portable charger with you. I'm probably actually going to keep the old one and give the newer one to my son because I like the bigger size of the 5x...it just looks more impressive... Though for sports I understand why someone would want less bulk. I don't really see a significant benefit of getting the 7 even though there are some slight improvements... though I would much prefer a touch screen than old school buttons. Oh... I bought mine for hunting too so I don't get lost in the woods. Nice review!
Great info. I have my 5x sapphire now for over 2 years. If it wasn't sapphire the screen would be broken looooong ago. Went out for a run and feld on my ars with my arm in between. The screen was white from all the rock debris, wiped it off and no scratch on the screen.... With new sapphire i want that touch screen for maps and the flashlight. Atm I literally use the backlight as my "flashlight". Also tomorrow going on a 30h+ run ill have to carry battery bank and charger with. I get ALOT of sun each day. so solar is a no brainier. Can i afford it? Where to sell kidney?
Navigation of maps is easier now. And i find myself using the flashlight all the time now. I have yet to use my watch on canoeing and hunting adventures, but soon.
The only issue with the 5 series is the battery life - the newer ones have better batteries, so if you're a serious outdoorsman and use the GPS a lot you'd want a beefier battery. I still use my 5X, but need to charge it after a long day in back country with my map up. the 7X has a much beefier battery.

Is the 5x still worth it in 2022?

Hi there
It's a hell of a watch to be fair ,a tad pricey but excellent bit of kit , good info cheers
Hello! For 5x how much would be the fair price now?
Is it still viable to buy a Fenix 5 I mean does everything still work on it or is it obsolete
It works five, have 5s

Very Nice 👍
I want a smart watch because I actually use the features and like them but I want a reliable watch that will last me a good 15 or more years
This is 7x ss model. Smaller 7 ss model doesn't have flashlite.
Thanks for pointing out the mistake
You don't need a lot of thing in life it if you want one is the question?
Way to expensive!
You speak way to slow, very hard to watch it longer than 1-2 mins.
I have known this man for 16 years, he actually speaks this slow all of the time 🤣
Thanks for the advice 👍
So, speedup the playback, problem solved. 🤷🏻
Disagree.
Or....you could speedup the playback....
