I recommend creating copies of the Run activity for specific types of runs, such as parkruns, easy runs, long runs. You can then set unique alerts for each type of run, whether you want auto lap alerts, and which data screens you want (and in what order) for each activity. For an easy run, you may be interested in staying in Zone 2, so set a high HR alert for Z2, set the alert frequency to 1 minute and customize a HR zone data screen. For intervals, you may choose to have no alerts, but may want to prioritize pace, power and HR data in one data screen. If you use headphones, you can have most of this data narrated to you without having to look at your watch all the time.

That's a really clever idea, didn't know you could do that. I have a series of configured screens within the Run activity which I use for different run sessions. Now I can have dedicated activities!

I have a Garmin 945. I struggle with often bad or questionable elevation gain data. Occasionally it seem correct for the course often though it’s way off and inconsistent. Ran a flat marathon with a friend last week- 500’ of gain on the course, my 945 showed 3500’. Any ideas?

Can I ask, I've chosen a run coach on garmin connect and following his running program. I don't like and want to choose someone else that saw st the beginning when I first setup my 955. I can't seem to find the other coach to load. Must I first cancel or delete the current coach before it allows me to choose someone else? TIA

I'm trying to figure out the gear feature. It would be useful to automatically track shoe use against different types of runs. I have 'base' and 'interval' activities setup on my watch and generally use different shoes for these. When it comes to setting a default for the gear(shoe) I only have the one option on my fenix which is 'running' . So it doesn't appear possible to have it setup to assign different shoes to different activities automatically unless I'm missing something? Thanks.

One I recently found was creating a random course.
press on the three dots at bottom right corner (more); press on training and planning then courses.
press "create course" - then "running".
next screen is Drawing Method - press "automatic" - select your distance and direction, and then press next.
It will ask you for your starting position and then it creates a course . Drag up the bottom screen and you can set your pace and/or goal time.
Never knew that one existed. There is bound to be more that I didn't know about on the Garmin

Ever tried AutoLap in "Position" mode?
Most people probably use the "Distance" mode set to 1 mi or 1 km.
Using the "Position" mode counts a new round whenever you pass the starting position. Add a data field for rounds and you will never ever be confused about number of rounds made in the park or stadium. Kind regards and thanks for the video. 😊

I came out of covid with a form of exercise induced asthma. And because of meniscus surgery on both knees, I'm only doing no more than three and a half miles now. I do look at my watch a lot because I'm focusing on my heart rate in my pace. If my heart rate is too high and my pace is too low I slow down. So pace and heart rate are two things that I focus on

Another battery saver for long runs when navigating is the track orientation - the default is to always track up (so that the heading big always points in the direction of travel, but this causes the screen to redraw a lot more often). Change it to "track north", which means that 12 o'clock on your watch is always North. Takes a bit of getting used to when running in a southerly direction but it saves some battery life 😉😎

@@AckerQ. I thought someone had done but a quick search seems to mostly throw up anecdotal evidence, so I may give it a try at some point as I am genuinely intrigued. I much prefer track up but it seems to make sense that constant screen redraws would drain the battery more than just redrawing the pointer and moving the screen according to distance travelled, but I use track north just to save battery life. I'd love to know how much battery I'm saving 🤔😊

That lap discard thing - OMG?!?!? That's only on latest gen watches right? Could have sworn I've never seen it on mine (fenix 6 pro), but am usually busy swearing at myself if I accidentally hit lap (due to crappy Spotify app on Garmin usually...)

I would love to see a Garmin lactate threshold test and see how it compares to a lab’s test.

Good video even though there was nothing new for me. To be fair some of the things mentioned took me a month to notice after i got my fenix.
I got some things i noticed think some migvt not know.
    - when turning on the flashlight you can adjust the brightness instantly.
-you can adjust short keycommands so if u like to take a screenshot by holding stop and up button. Or turn on touch by pressing start and down both at once.
-you can enter emergency contacts so garmin can contact them if something happens to you.
-%hrr zones was good to switch to instantly.
-you have to manually switch pulse ox measures rather than opt out.
-you can have stamina and potential stamina on the watchface when running.
-pace pro functionality took a while before i tried it.
-sometimes i forget to turn off the activity (if it happens to be discgolf or something other than running) and you can easily crop it afterwards.

Best feature is the hidden workouts available from the pc app you can set up heart rate workouts for various distances running and cycling that are better than the Garmin coach

Find my phone is definitely a favourite of mine but didnt realise you could also use it to find my watch. Once there's an update for find my watch charger then it really will be top notch 😂
I never realised rhats what the recovery time meant and always thought it to be not to run. Fortunately I always ignored it and did run so I was being good rather than a rebel it turns out!
Other than that i knew most of them so must be a watch geek, albeit an old model watch geek.
