This particular design spring pin on fenix 7/Fenix 8/Marq Gen 2 etc needs to be cut with diagonal plier or sharp wire cutters to remove. Then purchase the pins required, note the OEM Pins are 2.5mm thick. Carefully insert the new replacement OEM spring pins with an insertion tool to avoid scratching the watches lugs
I have a garmin 965, but def would recommend the epix 2 around 400. I was hoping the armband hr monitors would be on sale. I'm surprised they aren't.
@@tonybowen455 yes totally should have highlighted the Epix more significantly! Great call
when considering the mid range watches: what about the garmin venu3s? it has the newest hr sensor...would you still recommend the forerunner 965 although there is a 100 € a price difference?
@@duck9215 great question! Unfortunately no because the V3 lacks all of the advanced training analytics that Garmin does so well. Training load, aerobic training effect, anaerobic training affect, load type, load ratio, all of that is unfortunately not on the V3! The V3, however, is an awesome solution with the Voice assistant and newer sensorand nice design though!
Coming from a broken Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, I have the Suunto Race S since a week now, and I love it. Many things feel just much more thought through. Battery life could be better, but I love that the watch will just tell you…
What watch strap are you using on your fenix in this video?
@@gregtwogood9442 hey! I'm using the original Enduro strap. It's always been my favorite over the new Velcro loop straps that are promoted now
Rogue shirts are awesome btw and wear really well over time
@@JasonRaneses 100% agree. I have like six of them!
Fenix watches are like iPhones if you upgraded from the last model (Fenix 7) it’s only an incremental upgrade and ultimately comes down to your disposable income. But if you’re upgrading from a model 2+ iterations ago (Fenix 6 and prior) it’s going to feel like a big upgrade. It’s not that hard to see folks.
I'm ordering my race S next week. Can't wait to replace my forerunner 245.
@@tanyapitre731 the 245 is a good watch! Just archaic screen tech. You're gonna love it and it will feel like a big step forward
Whoop or Ultrahuman Air ring?
@@chriswhite4232 whoop 1 million times over. Not even a close comparison! Thank you for asking! That's a great point I should have made in the video
Great tips 👍🏻. What's your opinion about the sleep tracking and health statistics of the Suunto Race S? Can it compete with Garmins, Polar watches or Google Pixel Watch 3? I'm looking for a watch/device that can track that because I want to improve my sleep and overall health.
The best sleep tracker on the wrist is the Apple watch. Next in line are all the others. Suunto is relatively new in the field of interpreting sleep quality. While I think that the Suunto App and overall presentation and digestion into training recommendations are some of the best, there is some serious room for improvement.
@@ChristianSlagter you are asking the right questions! although I disagree on the Apple Watch! There have been videos saying that it is at least more closely capturing sleep stages with some low level accuracy relative to the others, but it is completely and totally missing HRV tracking which is one of the most primary physiological aspects for wellness and recovery! And if you were just looking for sleep/recovery/wellness analysis I honestly would probably lean towards WHOOP. It is the most consistent and the most comprehensive when it comes to holistic nightly recovery. The second, for me, would be polar's nightly recharge, but polar lacks a lot of depth on the training analytics so if there was a gun to my head I would choose Suunto race S for the lowest cost, and G 265 if you really had the excess funds. But from what you are saying I would honestly get the WHOOP device
@@fitgearhunter thank you for your reply, really appreciated. I think I'll go for the Suunto then, although I'm a bit concerned about where they store my data.
Looking forward to the full review of the Race s 👍🏼
@@darren6531 actually I have already done a review for it but in testing a lot of these watches in the $400 price range I'm gonna do an updated review because I feel like it is the most feature rich, nicest design, for the lowest price on the market today
Heads up to anyone watching this. Ordered this backpack in August, has been delayed now until at least February. Once this company has your money, they don't give a s*** about your order. Founder spends his time bragging on Linkedin about running a 9 figure business, but can't be bothered to send out orders. Instead, they ignore emails and delete social media comments. For a premium brand, they are a complete disgrace. Avoid them like the plague.
You said you wouldn’t buy Suunto race but how about if Race titanium is on sale for $399 on eBay brand new ?
@@MABBAS22 good question! Unfortunately for reliability of the sensor Race S - BUT - if you are hard-core dedicated to an external heart rate sensor then that would be the one to go for!
KNKG backpack clears the Haven by a mile. More space, more exterior functionality, better compartments, cheaper, and more customizable options. As someone who bought both, go with the KNKG instead
@@MrrrAndersonnn I compared the two as well and just feel like Haven offers more value! I didn't look in great detail but for the large duffel from KNKG it was $179, plus to buy the dividing walls it added another $40. Plus the fact that the interior is black I felt like it's not visibly as easy to see and utilize the way Haven does the light gray. But totally appreciate the thoughts because I looked at that as well!
Which Fenix 8 47mm do you exactly mean? The one with Amoled or MIP Solar?
@@thomasmann6416 to me - AMOLED. Plus it's the only variant at 47mm casing w 1.4" screen.
...flights / stairs climbed tracking ? did not locate in my research on this watch ...
Just ordered hopefully you’re right:)
I like the 26mm band, alot more comfortable.
Word on the street is that the ForeRunner 975 with the Elevate 5 HR sensor is right around the corner, so I'll be waiting for that one. Personally, I like the design of the Fenix 8 but find it just a tiny bit too rugged and utilitarian, and dare I say, "tactical" looking. I hope the new ForeRunner comes in around the $500-600 mark. Also, I recently learned that a lot of insurance companies offer a discount on Garmin wearables and the Index scale. I've heard some offering discounts in the 20-30% range.
Is there any way or video that shows someone handwashing the cooling pads and if so please put the link here please 🙏
Honest as always. That's what I love about your reviews. I have a Race S coming my way, I just wanna see whether the overall fitness charting is getting better here. My Body Battery is CONSTANTLY bottoming out because of giving me abysmal recovery numbers. I am curious to see how that plays out for myself.
Runner (and bike rider) here, just got a good deal on the FR965 so I'm going back to Forerunners after 2 years with the Venu 2..."down" from the FR955 because of the screen and because I didn't find the metrics other than BB really "actionnable". Besides I have an Edge 530 that calculates the load (assuming it's useful). Still, the larger screen of the FR965 was too tempting and I hear the adaptive training plans have improved, so... As a runner the Elevate 4 has been nearly perfect for me on the Venu 2 (just a bit laggy on short intervals) and it's the first time really...so much frustration with the FR235 or the FR935. I've also found that the larger and heavier watches like the F7 or Epix2 have HR drifts, possibly because they "bounce" more that a Forerunner that can be made to "hug" the wrist perfectly.
My 51 mm has a completely black strap
Man, sapphire glass. It’s a big difference vs gorilla glass.
I thought the dog behind you @1:24 was some big cat about to attack! 😂
@@furstyferret81 Baha thankfully not!
Just finding you. Thanks for the info. I’ll be ordering my AWU2 today. Are you in the Mississippi Delta? Looks like familiar ground.
Hey! super useful :) Thanks a lot for sharing and taking the time to do the video
Love the practical review! This is just what I needed as I was trying to decide between these two watches.
Garbage! Loosing connection non stop! IOS 18.1 not working properly. Problematic device, polar flow is junk software
Sealed the deal on the 965 for me. Thank you!
I've heard that the crown of the titanium version is smoother, is that correct? Also, have you encountered the Polar Vantage M3 yet and if so, what are your initial thoughts about it?
@@ChristianSlagter you know I totally want to test the polar vantage M3! I haven't been able to get a loaner device and just can't purchase outright. I do think it is is competitive at that price point, but if I only had $400 to spend I would choose the Suunto family just based on the training analytics and high-quality design. Polar is more one dimensional on the training side and Suunto is now expanding into these "Plus" applications that give further potential analysis And that's a great question I have not noticed it to be smoother but actually to have a slightly higher drag as you rotate it
@@fitgearhunter thank you. It was Active Ideas that pointed that out about the crown. He also has a good video comparing the Race S against the Fenix 8. Love the design of the Race S, the Vantage M3 is also good looking but just not that great as the Suunto. For me as an European, the data move from Suunto to China is worrying me. Polar is keeping the data in Europe, Garmin in the US if I'm not mistaken. Talking about the Garmin, loved your one month review. The 43mm is on sale on Amazon Italy for €783, do you think that is a good bargain? I need a watch for tracking my health, sleep and also soccer games and commute biking. Maybe a Pixel Watch 3 would be sufficient, but I fear it's not durable enough and the Fitbit ecosystem is holding back data on free plans if I'm not mistaken? Also, the battery life is barely 2 days...
I am lovely the Garmin Enduro 3, also good Suunto race S
@@tumaitis1 yep! Both good
Thanks for the review. I play a lot of disc golf and garmins are great for that. How does the Garmin Fenix 8 work with your tattoos and the heart rate? @fitgearhunter
Thank you so much for this review. I've been watching the Fenix series for a couple years now. It's a shame that they've gone from approximately $600 to $800 all the way to $1,000+ now. I'm happy to say though that the Forerunner 965 would work perfect for me. You saved me a lot of money. Thank you soo much! Yes it is about the money. Im a huge tech guy and have problems spending the money that they want for graphics cards nowadays.
Fenix leaped out of my price rage after the fenix 6 for me. I'll be goign with a Forerunner which is also a bit pricey.
I am in 2 minds...Still have the Epix Gen 2...and it is working like a charm...I would love the flash light and the new graphics on the golf app...but that is it...have 2 other dive computers so no need for a new one...but my arse is always itching for something new...$1k is a lot of money
Save your money and go on a holiday instead 😂Epix still working for you
Thanks for the video. Is the Fenix lineup overpriced...definitely! Should be priced around the Enduro price, and Enduro should be about $699.00 My issue with the 965 is the UI... Sure their minor differences, but I think the minor differences make a big overall difference.. The 965 watch face needs to be updated, maybe update it the older Epix watch faces??
Great review... straight to the points regular users find value. Tks!
Can you do another video for 2024-2025 watches?
good one... everybody else is saying it is glitchy and now to buy it but, I like your logic and am going to see if I can get it on sale or the Epix pro 2 saphire brand new for about $700 might be better deal but I do like the fenix 8 has a flashlight don't know if the Epix has that flashlight feature
I have Apple Watch Ultra and i am using athylitic app should i buy garmin for more accurate data or should i stick to Apple Watch.
Garmin customer service is the worst. My $1000.00 watch screen failed prematurely and they did nothing to help. Worse yet, their policy is to string along disappointed customers using extremely deception verbiage saying they will "exchange" your watch if it meets certain but REALLY "exchange" means you send in your watch and you pay full retail with a meaningless discount. Scam alert!!!!
You may have covered this in a different video, why 47mm not 51mm? Am considering the giant 8 for ultras (cos longer battery life)
does the Fenix 8 have as good results as this? and is this tracker accurate for resting heart rate etc and when I,m not working out? for workout I,ve ordered a chest strap . I come from an Apple Watch and I trusted that data a lot. my resting heart rate is important to keep an eye on my thyroid decease. but I don't want a apple watch anymore lacks on workout and recovery data and I find the vitals app pretty stupid.
Hello there. One question. If I have my Garmin Edge 530 and I want to upload the data from the sensors of my bike to my smartwatch can I do it with Garmin Foreunner 965 or 265? Garmin Edge 530 works with Garmin Connect app in my phone, so I guess that a Garmin smartwatch has to have this functionality as well? I mean I want to upload this data to Strava and also my smartwatch as well. Thank you so much
Wish they would do a steroid box..
Casually strolls around a graveyard, whilst talking about a watch. I've bought the Fenix 8 47mm MIP solar, as I don't like OLED and am upgrading from a Fenix 6 47mm. The 51mm feels too much like wearing a clock.
Will you come with a Amazfit t rex 3 review? Than you for your fantastic work🙏
is the sizing the same on all?
Got the fenix 7xpro saphire coming in the mail got it for a good price
