This video helped me figure out why my shifting suddenly turned to garbage. Got the replacement part on the way. Thank you for making this video. Words can not describe my relief. Thank you sir!
Great video mate helped me out big time, I left my car with the mechanic for 2 weeks when I went to work, he changed the bias plate and gear selector as the springs had wore through it, but there was a problem still and i was told the transfer case and the back of the box had to be taken off to fix the selector problem but this video is what saved me an arm and a leg, I took it somewhere else and I was told I need a new gearbox, I went home and followed your steps and found that the plastic bush was missing and only the metal ball was in there. It's all fixed now and feels much better. Thank you so much! 😁👍
Exact same problem. Plastic bush was missing and only the metal ball was there. Cheers!
@@soaringpotato what symptoms led up to it ?
@@bsmith534 Difficult to shift in all gears, in motion or at a stop. Shifting felt very metallic. No whines or any abnormal sounds.
Thank you, great video once again. Nicking a gate post, wow 😳 they must be nuts.
cool video hope to see more of the 110
hope this is a sign of more d2 work keep up the good videos
Perhaps. :)
Thank you ! please keep toolbox video alive further on
I am trying
Land Rovers don't have problems they simply have individuality and character that test our ability to understand. Now I shall go and have a little lie down.1/2 bottle of Johnny Walker has that effect on me.
Great video very useful, I'm gointo use this video along with the Slickshift video and fingers crossed all should go well! Just one question....how does the gearbox tunnel come off?
Any chance of that follow-up vid you promised? I 'slick-shifted' my '03 D2 last week and I've now been left with a lovely 'snicky' gear change. However, every so often I go to down-change into 3rd or up into 4th, only to be met with a blockage that I need to negotiate my way around. It feels like something is rotating during gearchanges and every so often it reaches a 'flat spot' and the gear alignment is thrown out. I've ordered the parts to do the change in this vid, but your closing line, that things are still not quite aligned properly, has me concerned that I too have another as-yet undiagnosed issue. Great vids, thanks!!
Can you do a video on differences between the D1 and D2?
how do you remove the bush and replace it? do you have a video where you do that?
How do you remove the yolk? Removed the grub screw but still can't remove the yolk itself
where did you buy the new ftc 4247 from? struggling to find it
Did you manage to find one in the end, having the exact same problem
@@ejc8858 same lol
hi - i seem to remember you were offering dvd's previously for sale - is this still the case? Or for download? In the process of purchasing a 300tdi and know you have a lot of relevant videos already but want to support the channel...!
of course i can just ustilise patreon if no longer available
hi, I went to test drive a defender 90 200tdi 1993, everything seemed good with it except the gear selection it was my first time driving an old defender so I dont know if there all like this or not but basically I kept selecting reverse instead of 1st and i was getting some crunching on down shifts especially 2nd. Hope to hear back from u soon as I want to get back to the seller 2moro. thanks
Reverse you should feel a positive resistance when moving the stick over to the left. crunching may be worn baulk rings Old vehicles have their problems but without being there I couldn't diagnose if the gearbox has faults or if it's your first-time encounter driving style.
there was definitely no resistance between reverse and first and finding gears was difficult. the rest of the vehicle is good. do you reckon a new turret with bias springs and slick shift could make a difference? is it possible to replace the reverse plunger from inside the vehicle.
hi could you tell be please whether the reverse plunger can be replaced from inside the vehicle. thanks
did you ever get to the bottom of what was wrong?
Why would they nick a fence post....
Bricks?
Someone nicked your gate? Jesus, where do you live?
Not as rough as you'd think. Turns out the council are doing repairs. However, I think the gate and post will be missing for some time.
