I'll be happy with the engineering system as long as it's not a random problem simulator. you should be able to run multiple missions without needing to fix anything especially if you haven't taken any damage. if you are involved in a battle and the ship takes damage then fair enough it will be cool to then need to do maintenance etc. or if you are in a tough fight and something needs to be fixed on the fly to survive the encounter. But I just hope it's like that, that there will be a reason when you need to fix something, not just random things breaking down and overheating constantly with no real cause.
