Just ordered one today. We’ll soon find out….Thank s Jimmy.
Love this guitar, Jimmy. Do you stuck with the 11’s from the factory, or use 12’s? Thanks!
12s for sure!
@@JimmyLeslieGTRawesome! Thank you!
Thank you. Just ordered one.
I bought this awesome guitar and my hands, fingers Say thanks to Martin in research and development....
Thanks for the review. Now that we're 7 months out from it, any revised thoughts, comments, feedback from other players? I currently own a Taylor 710-CE, which has THE most amazing sound, but the dreadnaught is simply too large for me as a lady. As a relatively timid player, I'm looking for something that gives me that huge sound that I get from my Taylor (aka "magnificent beast") but is more playable. Was wondering if the SC-13E might fit the bill. (p.s. I NEVER thought I'd consider jumping from Taylor to Martin, but never say never, right? Ha!) Much obliged.
I have two Taylor’s. I love my SC-13e. It feels so natural in my hands.
@@fretted Thanks for the reply. I played one this weekend and liked it. Might give it a go!
Hey Allison, geez sorry I missed this comment and late reply. If a huge sound from a guitar more managable than a dreadnought is your aim, I'd give the Martin M-36 a go. As a small dude, I can relate, and I bought the M-36 for exactly that reason on Ben Harper's recommdation. He went with that M body for his signature Martin too. It's similar width at the waist to a dread, but shallower depth and not as elongated. I call mine the M Bomber!
Nice playing! Great sounding guitar.
Thanks Papaw!
@@JimmyLeslieGTR I played one at guitar center yesterday and fell in love with it and a 000-18 the extra $1000 for the 000 made the choice a lot easier.
@@papawrichard3553 Right on Richard! Glad you got into the SC-13. I plunked down the $ for a Martin OM-MD and a M-36 that I reviewed recently, so even though I wanted it bad, I couldn't possibly afford to keep the S-13 too. I'm hoping they come out with a new version so I can get another one in for review, ha ha! Enjoy yours!!
@@JimmyLeslieGTR I’ve always wanted an M-36 how do you like yours?
@@papawrichard3553 I LOVE it. It's got way more bass than you'd expect from triple 0 depth. I tend to tune it down a bit and use the OM for standard pitched stuff
I've had my SC-13E for about four months and it's hard to keep it out of my hands. It's one of the most playable guitars I have, and certainly the most playable acoustic. The Martin D-15M I bought around the same time is a magnificent beast, but the upper fret access on the SC-13E in addition to more comfortable body shape means I don't spend as much time with the dreadnought as I'd like. I hesitate to say the acoustic sound of the SC-13E is a compromise, but I do think the veneer back and sides, in addition to all the hardware around the neck joint, and the nature of the neck joint itself do have an effect on the acoustic sound. Overall it's a brilliant package and a great all-arounder that's great for live performance, and grab-it-and-go recording. I string the SC-13E with 12s and it takes to tuning down a bit really well.
You're on point!
I tried one. I was playing other guitars before it and it sounded tinny when compared. I like the idea as I play both acoustic and electric. I guess you always have to give up something to get something.
Maybe it takes awhile to grow on you?
There is always some compromise like you said, give up something to get something. Especially with acoustic guitar - the laws of physics and econnomics, ya know? You can't have a huge cutaway on a rather shallow body with veneered woods and expect it's going to sound as big and bad acoustically. To me, it's all about the arena you're working in. It's not going to beat other Martins in a campfire or studio situation. This guitar is a killer for live acoustic-electric playing at this price point.
@@JimmyLeslieGTR ya. I get it. I finally decided to buy one and they sold it before I got there. Funny it’s been there for 6 months.
Guess I’ll have to order one. I get what you’re saying about what arena you are using it for. Guess that’s why my wife think’s I’m crazy for having a dozen guitars.😂
Thank you.
I could hear the commercial loud and clear, and I can hear the the guitar, but I can't hear one thing you said.
not really sure what you mean by that, but I truly dig the SC-13!
Nice....😁
Thanks Dino!
cheers dino!
