- Martin Guitars invited me to their private Nashville Showroom and sent me home with their newest release, the SC-13E. At the time, the guitar was not in production yet, and the design was still very secretive, with all of it's brand new innovations, top secret design elements, and patents pending. It's just been released, so I wanted to share the moment of those first impressions, and also share it's sound, once I got it back to my home studio. Enjoy!

The nicest thing I love about my Martins is the - Smell. I just open the case some times to just take a whiff of those beautiful instruments.
ezo4 I have a two year old 000-16 and, to this day, every time I play it (just about everyday!), I smell the wood at the sound hole (yeah, sounds weird) and it still blows my mind!!! The spruce top is intoxicating!

That cut out that lets you access the higher frets is very cool.
Check out the older Washburns with the extended cutaway neck. Criminally underrated guitars.
Even though i have never heard this jam before. It seems as if I have heard the song before a thousand times and every note is in exactly the right place.

That's the nature of the blues. In many ways it's somewhat limiting yet the emotion a player puts into it makes it what it is, pure gold!
My guess is that the people who clicked thumbs down on this work for Gibson or Taylor
don't forget Larrivee, which is an awesome guitar....

Justin would be the perfect Martin spokesperson, he is very gifted in playing but also very articulate and likeable which is a rare combination.

I am not at all convinced that this Martin guitar is that good, I mean it sounds great when he plays it, but shovel also sounded excellent.

@@woody816 Yep, it looks awesome, love that shape and the cutaway. I hope Martin makes some solid wood, acoustic-electric guitars with that shape. I'd buy. (Something sad to me about Martin making a "13" series. I get it, all the big money is at this price range. Martins have always been so costly, it's like, guys think of wanting one, but the price... they just can't go there.)

Wow. Martin really stepped out of the box to create something awesome for blues players, and others obviously. But I love the creativity. If anyone can be trusted to do it right it's Martin. I bet the head stock doesn't crack in ten years - like Gibson, and lows and mids are just as present as highs, unlike Taylor. Dovetail shoved into the body - that's unheard of! They keep pushing the envelope. They took a step in the early 2000s with the OMCRE, where you could change the action higher and lower on the fly without changing the tuning - genius! Now this. Good job Martin. Longest family owned business in American history and it shows.

Dustin is an easy. There isn’t a guitar he can’t make sing. However, this sure is sweet.
Ive been playing guiyar almst 2 years and just getting into slide and a more bluesy approach. Watching you play has helped me emensly.
I love my Martin too. They just have this very unique clean twang. Of course Justin's guitar mastery makes most of us look like amateurs.

I enjoyed the response of the lady working in the showroom, l suppose they don't get visitors like JJ Evey day. Such a skillful player that looks the part.
Nothing better than having a cut out to access those high notes. It's the main reason I bought a Taylor 614CE. But from what I see here, it may be time for an addition to the collection.

Remember hearing olLeadbelly as a kid and it sent goosebumps allover. I'd no idea who he was or what the blues was but I knew I'd stumbled into one of the few things that changes your life instantly. Hearing the blues redefines you (if you have a soul)

I was a but confused when this was posted today until I went back 5 days or so with the unboxing of this same model.
After looking at both posts I see it's 2 different guitars looking at the backs of them.

Hey Justin, they give free tours at the Martin factory in Nazareth Pennsylvania. If youre ever in the area its a nice plant in a nice town.
