Plastic headlights deteriorate after a few years, the sun and its UV rays, the plastic and its poor quality designed to decompose, and the abrasion of dust particles in the air caused its transparency to vanish.
Polishing a headlight assembly makes it possible to pass a car inspection , without spending a large sum of money due to the purchase of a new assembly.
It's a repair on an object designed to fail,so it will not last indefinitely, dust will keep blasting the surface again.
Glass headlights last forever and are recycled indefinitely, not plastic ones.

: ) i'm happy if it helps you.
Try to protect the surface with UV protection if you can, your job will last longer.

I have to get new headlights due to them going cloudy on the inside.

@@michaelovitch I've seen people in countries like Pakistan who actually take the lens off and polish them. They look good but the plastic gets weakened around the area they heated up.

I can't blame them because it's a poor country and have to make do with limited resources they've got. Got to admire them for trying though.

So is this Citroen your ideal car?
I know you were working your way to a nice car :-D
As you have removed the surface of the lights, will you apply a U.V blocking coat?.
It would be a shame if the evil sun turned the lights yellow :-(

I can't fit in this car,it's a car i worked on for somebody,to be able to pass car inspection.
Damaged headlights are a failure to the inspection,so i suggested him to polish them instead of buying new expensive ones.
Mine future one car is worst than this one,it's a peugeot 206 quite ugly waiting to be worked on.
I need to fix and sell my renault 21 first haha.
I didn't apply protective coating, this headlight is yellow inside,it's nearly close to the bin, i was looking for road safety,on the cheap.
One of the plastic brackets to bolt it on the car was broken,i had to make something with aluminium sheet and self tapping screws haha !
It worked pretty good, the man will can have the car road worthy.

@@michaelovitch oops i jumped to the wrong conclusion.
I know you were working your way to a nicer car.
My frend had a 205, it went like a rocket, but it was just a basic body design and not pretty.
It had a hot little engine lol.

I like cheap very common cars so i can maintain it easily for little money,as parts are plenty.
If i had more money,i would get a nicer car for sure,a comfy sedan, and a work truck/pick or land rover up or something like that.
205 are nice specially gti ones,or turbo diesel.
Too small for me however lol
