Yea and I would say, don't even worry too much about the team themselves doing it, even if you got in some help to get them all going again and just did some "fix update" videos that'd be fun and leave the crew for the "fresh content".
One of the best parts of this channel is that you show, things go wrong. problems come up, even with kits made to fit. I remember watching Nolan when they were having so many issues getting the Nissan going and he lost it. He was human, he was us, the audience. Being relatable makes you a better channel than shows that just gloss over the issues and problems. We love cars, but things we love will cause problems, its the passion to make it better that we all share.
This channel is unique in that it truly highlights how things will go wrong with cars, the work and guys here are way more relatable because of it. Wish I had these guys when I was doing everything to my first car... Frustration lol
I'd love to see a DONUT REHAB series where you fix up all the cars around the shop and then do some big top-gear like challenge among all the hosts. Maybe assign cars to teams like so and so gets low z so and so gets Zach's Silvia and make them compete to make the most drivable, livable cars. Not a top gear challenge for who's got the fastest car but rather for who's got a good daily
Would love that. The question is, do they keep the challenge somewhat local or use it as an excuse to have a crew holiday? I know they're pretty big on UA-cam, but that last one still requires a shocking amount of $$$ 😅.
I like how videos like these are basically talking to the donut community. It lets us know that you are listening, and that means a lot. Thanks guys, and I hope to see more amazing content from ya'll!
I like the idea of a series about fixing all of the old cars. Someone mentioned doing it in chronological order, which would be cool and easy to map out
I remember you having a positive opinion on the digital dash in the "is it worth it" video that featured it. It would be cool if y'all did a "long term update" on some of the mods y'all have done to see if any others have proven not so great, or better than expected over the years.
Even the “boring” mods we’d still like to see. Episodes being longer aren’t a bad thing at all because we enjoy watching you guys together and the cars.

@@downwithtrudeau yeah. Like the cars wouldn't even have to be the same car. The budget would just be there and then they could pick a car within that budget and then build off of that they could get a more expensive car and have less money to work on it.

I think it's important for people to see this, and not get the wrong impression of what modified cars are like to live with. Especially with the "low" cars some people might get the idea that they can make some serious performance gains for cheap but it's never that simple and quite often, even with expensive high quality mods as we see with the "high" cars, these cars spend more time being worked on than being driven. Taking a 300hp sports car, giving it 500hp and keeping up with supercars down the straights is relatively easy. Making that car start every time you turn the key, making everything that's not the engine still work as it did before, and having it run smoothly so you can drive it home after the race is easier said than done and quite often these modified cars are never completely sorted out and just end up as track cars because the owner has just had enough and bought something else (stock) to daily drive.

This is the donut media content i thirst for, love being kept in the loop also really enjoy nolan fixing up his old car that he let sit for like 20 years or whatever
This is a good video. It's a super realistic showcase of what it means to have and maintain cars; you'll rarely have it be perfect and even then, not for long. Super comforting
With you guys talking about possibly wanting to make some changes to some of the cars like the Tacos makes me think that you should do a HiLow Revisited where you go about fixing/adjusting/replacing and redoing the final challenges. Do a comparison between the updates and the original.
I wanna see low-z neatened up and all the loose ends taken care of! It's my favorite build series car on donut! Such a cool car, and the kind of car most of us would build. Fun per dollar, hard to beat! And I think the nose is cool, it's got that hot rod vibe, but you could fix it if you wanted to.
I really want to see a "Spirng Cleanup" series, which seems quite appropriate right now! You can start with the easiest cars to fix, and slowly move up to cars that need more work
Now that you guys have gotten a lot more track time I think the Zs should get fixed up and do something fun. Track competition for time? New drift courses? Someway to showcase the growth since the original Hi-Lo could be a sick tribute to the OGs
Fresh content is always great but I would love for you guys to start a series of just fixing cars and kind of going through the basics and touch on diagnosing the issue as well. You make amazing videos and this my favorite channel on UA-cam for sure so maybe I’m partial to the old projects because of that. Don’t let the cars die! Cars are made to be enjoyed and driven! Even Leonardo DiCabrio deserves to hit the streets! Fixing the cars will be fresh content with old material so it could be a great buffer to make content while trying to find the next batch of cars. Plus most of the cars would be cheaper to fix than buying new cars
I would love to see that S14 running, i've been waiting to see that for quite a long time. Also then the Z's i think deserve some kind of priority since they are the ogs.
10:21 its easy fix you need to take the door panel of then take the window off of the window actuator then take that black ish glue thing off of the place where the windows get put on to the door then put on the black ish glue back on then put the window back in and the door panel and done
The Miata issue is likely due to vibration loosening the connection Using a heatshrink wrap or coating the bitch (connection) silicone/epoxy (you want to be VERY sure it’s well seated in the connection if you’re gonna epoxy it though) should work pretty well for that I’d go for heatshrink because you can always take it off easily without mess tbh The inelastic nature of the coating epoxies have a very high resistance to deformation( i.e. high young’s modulus) but they don’t have much capacity for elastic deformation before they plastically deform (i.e. change of shape that doesn’t revert upon removal of forces); so over time it’d potentially fail and need to be replaced depending how hot it gets and how bad the vibration is plus some get decently hot as they cure and you don’t want to fuck the coating of the wires or you might get a grainy picture or signal issues from the magnetic fields of the wires in proximity to each other That elastic nature helps hold the connection in too when the materials heat cycle during and after use (and expand/contract) Not knowing how fast you’re going easily would make it hell for not getting pinged be speed cameras
With regards to the Cursed WRX, you said you should probably scrap it or turn it into wall-art. Why not expand that second idea a bit and sell bits of it to your fans? Take the small parts (not sure to which extent), put them in "deep", cheap picture frames (I can't remember what they're actually called), sign them and sell them as unique one offs.
hey guys, great vid as usual, how about the bike series with Jerry? I think I can speak for a lot of us saying that, we loved that series, How about new episodes on it? It was a a sick series tbh
If you guys dont know, fueltech is a programmable ecu, u have all the points of that one that is on the miata and you have a gauge that works on the same product. Prices are not the best partner, but is really good quality for a product like this. You can turbocharge your miata with it too Love you guys much love form Brazil xxx

We have a saying in our country/town we say: 'A Mechanics Car is always broken down. A Plumbers own house has leaks and a Carpenters own roof is barely standing up.' Sounds much more snappy in my language 😂. But the gist is basically blue collar workers are so busy fixing everyone else's problems that they barely have any time to fix their own.
Doubt they’ll see this but as a person getting into cars, hence why I love donut. I would always love to hear about all the work put into the car, even if it’s a baffled oil pan or so on. Much love though
I think we must all take some responsibility for their vehicles. If they didn't work so hard to provide us with videos, usually tearing their vehicles up . Thank You for your diligence.
Low Z's shifter boot: Pampero Aniversario Reserva Exclusiva Rum. Comes in pretty a leather bag. That bag? Makes an EXCELLENT shifter boot. Cut a hole in the base for the knob. Slide it over and cinch in down with the drawstring to the boot base flange. If you're feeling fancy, you can use a leather string and cinch the boot to the shifter itself, too. Funkiest dang shifter boot y'all ever saw.
This is a fifteen minute video about how "Donut" has broken all of their cars by trying to make them better. Literally 90% of these stated problems were caused by trying to replace "working" parts, which makes the content that much more relatable.
I feel your pain, i got a 2006 Dodge Dakota, 3.7l V6 4 speed Automatic RWD Extended Cab. It has almost 300k on the odometer It needs a complete new suspension, it burns oil so needs a engine rebuild or a new one, it has no reverse so it needs a new transmission, because of the oil situation it need new exhaust, also needs like new sensors and such, it probably needs a new rear axle. Basically needs everything from the engine back. But she runs everyday and has never left me stuck, so even with all her flaws i love her
I have a 03 Mustang GT I daily drive. Last week the clutch cable shredded so I spent 2 hours replacing that. Yesterday I replaced both front lower ball joints. Next week I’m replacing the rear passenger axle shaft with a TEN performance axle shaft. I have a 1990 Wrangler outback that needs the head pulled and gasket replaced. We are all in the same boat. It’s love/hate. But the reward when it’s all going well even if it’s a short time is overwhelmingly satisfying. ✌🏻
When projects stack up, you're always best off to start with the one that matters to you the most. Once she's fixed, it's like finishing a good book and it's onto the next.
Currently restoring a 94 OBS F150 single cab short box. I’ve done an instrument cluster, thermostat, VSS sensor, throttle position sensor, and flushed the entire cooling system. This weekend she’s getting a water pump and fan clutch, as well as a serpentine belt
The minimal throttle input issue almost 100% sounds like a tune issue rather than a ecu issue. Like its just not been set up to run at those low revs or low aggression
Miata: Tip-in / transient throttle can be tough to nail down. check the wideband logs and overlay tps with O2 observed and O2 target. I bet you'll see it going lean. If the MS has channels for proportional and integral output for closed loop O2 control, lay those over the lean area in the log. Probably needs more I but, it's good to confirm with data channels if you have them.
Clearly our cars need some attention - which one would you guys like to see fixed first?😎⚡

This is a good video. It's a super realistic showcase of what it means to have and maintain cars; you'll rarely have it be perfect and even then, not for long. Super comforting
Well modded cars yeah. Normal cars eh just do normal maintenance and you're chilling
With you guys talking about possibly wanting to make some changes to some of the cars like the Tacos makes me think that you should do a HiLow Revisited where you go about fixing/adjusting/replacing and redoing the final challenges. Do a comparison between the updates and the original.
That your mom joke from Nolan was on point and unexpected, gave me a good laugh to hear that come out of his mouth tho.
Fr tho 😂
Lol I know got em good
@14:29 is Jobes face when James said he liked his sister.
I need some more S14 money pit content
I really want to see a "Spirng Cleanup" series, which seems quite appropriate right now! You can start with the easiest cars to fix, and slowly move up to cars that need more work
(4:20) "And Nolan"; bro is broken too, will take some time 😂
The S14 is so looked over that it still has that spaghetti on the floor. 😂
Great that you guys are describing the challenges with running these project cars, showing not just the successes but the failures and problems too
S14 needs some love and screen time
Doing a fixing series where you purely work on fixing them would be a great series as many others suggest.
@4:00 it aint got no gas innit
Why not the s14? Its a sick project and we haven't seen the car in a really long time
A bunch of fresh content security sitting right under your noses! Love to see them all get back on the road.
You have no idea how much better this makes me feel...
10:21 its easy fix you need to take the door panel of then take the window off of the window actuator then take that black ish glue thing off of the place where the windows get put on to the door then put on the black ish glue back on then put the window back in and the door panel and done
Would love to see that s14
The Miata issue is likely due to vibration loosening the connection
Using a heatshrink wrap or coating the bitch (connection) silicone/epoxy (you want to be VERY sure it’s well seated in the connection if you’re gonna epoxy it though) should work pretty well for that
I’d go for heatshrink because you can always take it off easily without mess tbh
The inelastic nature of the coating epoxies have a very high resistance to deformation( i.e. high young’s modulus) but they don’t have much capacity for elastic deformation before they plastically deform (i.e. change of shape that doesn’t revert upon removal of forces); so over time it’d potentially fail and need to be replaced depending how hot it gets and how bad the vibration is
plus some get decently hot as they cure and you don’t want to fuck the coating of the wires or you might get a grainy picture or signal issues from the magnetic fields of the wires in proximity to each other
That elastic nature helps hold the connection in too when the materials heat cycle during and after use (and expand/contract)
Not knowing how fast you’re going easily would make it hell for not getting pinged be speed cameras
Do a money pit 240 Zach Jobe deserves it
3:32
Ol' Hank not liking that 😂
It’s heart warming that we are all in the same boat modifying our daily’s to the point of no return 😂
Or go the same route whistling diesel did and shred it
I think you're referring to shadow boxes :) Cool idea :)
hey guys, great vid as usual, how about the bike series with Jerry? I think I can speak for a lot of us saying that, we loved that series, How about new episodes on it? It was a a sick series tbh
@0:28 this is why they hired Nolan ❤
And what about ae86? If i recall correctly James had one laying around
If you guys dont know, fueltech is a programmable ecu, u have all the points of that one that is on the miata and you have a gauge that works on the same product. Prices are not the best partner, but is really good quality for a product like this. You can turbocharge your miata with it too
Love you guys much love form Brazil xxx
11:53 Completely unnecessary, but funny.
i learned a lot of stuff about the boring parts from people who didnt wanna waste the time removing them from videos. you have the platform to teach so many without trying.
Would love to see the S14 get fixed!
I'd really love to see the s14 get fixed finally
Shoulda used a Celica
High Z
14:04 ROFLMAO q=D Nolan spazzing out "AhW!" killed me 🤣🙃😅😪
Low Z's shifter boot: Pampero Aniversario Reserva Exclusiva Rum.
I love watching these types of Donut videos. I always have to fix things on my cars, and I also tend to beat on them.
Bring back the “if you can fix it you can keep it” series
Baffled pan is good, but did you upgrade the weak factory oil pickup, too? that is almost as important.
11:52 Nolan dropped a bombshell on this one Hahahaha
