When ENFPS Thrive and Survive (and Sometimes Fail)

  • The absolute worst thing that can happen to an ENFP is getting trapped in routine and repetition. What can ENFPs do to get out of that and kick themselves into taking action on their dreams, to thrive and survive?
In order to reach our full potential, us ENFPs have to be able to face fear first, and take an action that commits us to our chosen path... easier said than done.
However, under pressure, with the back against the wall - where some other types break - ENFPs THRIVE and in this video I discuss how us ENFPs can turn this to our advantage to pursue our dreams and reach our maximum potential.

I'm so happy I found you on UA-cam, Dan. Being an ENFP who's struggled with finding my own path and quitting my job, I found your videos very refreshing. In fact, it helped me work around my mental and emotional struggles slowly. Thank you and keep the videos coming! :)

As a fellow ENFP, this video just changed my life. THANK YOU!
PS. I also find a lot of us have a tendency to think we need “permission” to do the things we want to do. An example would be “oh, I need to do XYZ to have permission to do this thing I want to do.” And it is like you said, a lie and an excuse to keep us from doing what we want. You are amazing brother! Again, thank you!

It was easy to move across the country in the hopes of getting that first radio job in a small town when I was 21. It worked out and led to 20+ years of adventure! When I quit my job 10 years ago I struggled financially, but it led to some other really cool experiences and eventually back on the air. Two months ago the station sold and I am being forced to get serious about UA-cam. Finances are tight again, but I have to make this work! The hardest part is finding ONE niche (way too many interests as an ENFP!) and making myself set an upload schedule and sticking to it. I have to do it, so I will!

Glad I found your channel, I am listning to a lot of your videos and they make sense. I am an older (late 50's) ENFP. For most of my life I was a freelance in community arts and training and I loved it. I got burnt out, really ill, left the city and now I have been stuck out in the sticks for more years than I care to think about....doing a dull job and wondering how the hell I am going to find my way out. The whole world has shifted and the work I used to do would be too hard physically now, and there's not much funding for it anyway. I feel completely lost.

@@sandramargolis I started paddle boarding, got the chance to go on holiday several times, threw a lot of things away, including old clothes, tried to make new connections and look for new work opportunities, but nothing yet. Decided to appreciate the job for now - people are nice and there are worse jobs; it got me through the pandemic and allowed me to be at home more to do a lot of clearing and finish the house. Thanks for asking.

I just cried because you described my feelings and situation in the past months so perfectly because I didn't understand why I'm unhappy. But because of you I know: I feel trapped. This daily routine of sensless work I do everyday is killing me inside. I want to do something with people but I don't know how to change that. I would have to study and that costs so much in switzerland. I just don't know what to do so i made excuses and talked to myself like: It's not that bad, other people can do that too, other people would be happy if they had a job like you. But my inner voice said that so I don't feel that trapped anymore, but I still do. Thank you for this video it was very emotional for me and probably will change my life from now on. (I'm an ENFP-T)

  • @samanthalourdesbillones1152

This video attacked me so much!
I am a 25-year-old ENFP. When I was 16, a freshman in college, I had to choose a program/degree with a national licensure exam for a scholarship grant. I selected Accounting to become a CPA. Saying that the road taken was smooth would be a lie; nonetheless, I was good. I survived and passed the board exam on my first take. When I was preparing for the boards, I was full of pressure. I never felt what anxiety meant until it was 1 week before the exams. My parents' struggles to send me to school, the expectations of the people in my school, and the expectation of my relatives - gave me a mixture of pressure and determination. I also conditioned my mind that my degree wouldn't really have a purpose if I could not get a license (although you can still work as an accountant, of course, even if you're not a CPA) just to add an extra push to myself. I really studied hard and became so focused.
Obviously, Accounting was not my first choice. I only selected it for practical reasons thinking that someday I can pursue what I really want.
Now that I am 25 with a good stable job (related to accounting/finance) which is not so taxing compared to my first job (audit), I am thinking that I should be starting to really work on my dreams since I have plenty of time in my hand. I know I can strategically make something happen. I know I have dreams deep in my heart - it's just that I don't know what to pursue. I have so much passion inside me. I want to pour it into something I desire. I just can't remember or know what is/are that/those thing/s (I can't choose). I want to be in that focused mode again. Of course, I have some ideas, it's just that I am afraid to admit and commit. Thanks to this channel, which I just recently discovered. With this, I will slowly build myself, look introspectively, work hard, and take responsibility. It's on me now. I know I can do this! We, ENFPs, can all do this! Thank you so much! Your videos really help people like me.

I am struggling to now complete the course bcoz there s no interest left anymore.. and it takes 6 months and hell lot of focus to pass the toughest exam in commerce in India.. I know I can pass if I commit to it.. but there s a loss of interest towards it.. Bcoz I know this isn't for me.. yet I need to do for keeping up the word I have given to my parents.. bcoz I chose it long back going against everyone around me.. now how could I align my thoughts to complete it and get lifetime freedom.. bcoz everyone s ready to allow me to do anything I wanna do only if I complete this course..

First sensible comment I have read so far. So many ppl are just sucking this personality type shit in. The spectrum for difference in every type is massive. We are not all the same. What happened to ppl just wanting to be individuals? Alarm bells went of in my head when he said plan to quit your job. Firstly if I am not mistaken we do things on impulse. I dont plan anything. It never works. It was an example, but very careless if this is supposed to be advice. I'm afraid it's generic. Most people will get it but then there is the minority of people like me who go. Hang on a minute I don't believe that. So many so desperately want to belong that are afraid to voice a differing opinion. As they think ppl won't like them. I am not that person. My look on things is deeply important to me. I would rather have my voice heard then be popular. I wish ppl would voice what they think more. I like to talk about things and hearing a differing point of view is music to my ears. You got it bang on. What's right for some isn't for others. Might as well give me advice as according to my Sun sign. On the other hand if it works for you, great.

Hahahaha all test put me in enfp and normally I can really relate, but this video is soooo opposite of what I am like. By default I make all work and persobal relations - and my commitments - super important. Putting more pressure on will just make me ignore my boundaries and overexpend where it wasnt necessary. Challenging myself is my default; the moment I notice i could take a step forward i am literally unable to postpone. I have never been able to put myself in only one job, and I always pick up on hard conversations, because No Way am I gonna let myself be limited by discomfort or fear or the judgement of others. So where's that video about how enfp's can thrive without overdrive, and complement their devotion to a better world and their creativity with at least a little simplicity and time to process? Because I'm so done with getting stuck on lack of energy all the time :(

Yeah I always plan to do so something and keep delaying until it drives me crazy and then suddenly it’s kinda too late and I do it anyway and I’m like wow, allright I just did that. And so I keep putting myself in impossible situations but over time I figured: I don’t feel like doing this, but I’m going to hate myself if I don’t do it, so I end up doing it, which feels good... afterwards 😁

Absolutely true, in big same as in small decisions! I always have to take the jump in the cold water, as we say in Germany.
I even fall into depression if I linger too long! When I was really down last month, I decided to switch rooms with my little daughter so she had more space, put all the furniture up and down the stairs in 2 1/2 days and was ready in time for her sleepover party.
Since then I cannot stop anymore, I hardly need sleep.
Is there a break-mechanism I can use, because I fear I will exhaust myself if I keep going like this for too long? I am not 20anymore, when I could work 5 or 6 days without sleeping if I had to.

Need is the mother of creativity. We ENFP don´t get involve as easy with just create abundance without a reason, should be a strong propose or a good motivator. Okay i need advice. I am an ENFP pharmacy student in my 8th semester (we have 10 sems in total). I have been feeling like this is not the career for me as it is too structured, for 2 years now. Should i still continue my studies as this maybe just a commitment issue, or should i stop procrastinating and just quit. It would be a stupid decision as i already spent so much time, money and energy but it's also stupid i think to just stay when I don't want to persue this career. Or maybe i am just bullshiting to get out of this commitment.

@@enfp No debts as such, but i am pretty much broke. I am a female in my early 20s and my parents pay for the tution as i live with them. (That's the culture here) Need a "real" job if i want to be independent.

    Hi friend,
I love your enfp info, but can you talk faster please. 😊 esp since these are targeted for enfp’s. It’s true info, but the delivery is like soooo drawn out.

It took him ages to get to the point. Even when he did, his delivery was all over the place. He said the same thing with different words over and over. I dislike being critical but personally that was so generic. Good on him for trying to help people deal with the positives and negatives of your personality type. I have tested over and over and still get ENFP. However I didn't empathise with what he was saying at all. An ENFP in my mind wouldn't plan to quit thier job in 6 months! I thought we were an impulsive bunch. I have walked out of many jobs not really taking it into consideration the reality. I get the need for more motivation but for a 5 min video should have been done dusted in the first minute. Again. I don't feel advised at all. More confused than what I was to begin with. However I won't judge his authenticity just by this video. I am not a judger. Just get to the point Dan man.
