  • Would appear that the lubricated felt wads just can't let go of a good thing. They seem to "stick" to their job!

Wow those cats punch em out neatly. Ive reused once fired felt wads before and shotshell wads out of curiosity and they worked ok

Excellent groups as usual OR! I never use wads with my C&B but do have to use them on my 45/120, I am always suspicious that every now and then a wad sticks to the projectile, even with a paper separator, but I am sure those wads at the backstop must have been stuck tight, the chance of them going through the same hole following 3 ft behind is not really feasible, and your tight groups would soon show them up anyway. On a sad note, we lost Hershal House earlier this week. Stay safe! Chris B.

That is bad news. I discovered a couple weeks ago that that he had a channel, only several videos and no activity for a couple years. I was thinking that maybe he was going downhill being the reason. Too bad the UA-cam thing wasn’t available when he was doing all his work. Don’t remember if I said that in the late 80’s I got his complete set (thinking 10 vhs tapes) from American Pioneer Video. They are temporarily (I hope) on the missing list. Recordings weren’t the best, but could hear most of it over the roosters. He was the real thing, and I’m sure there’s others we just don’t know about.
Yes, I think blasting into the sand takes them off, and the amount of sand attached is probably because they are pretty warm when they hit. I have targets that have holes from some that separated before the target. I’ve never cared much for anything being the ball, especially a 1/8 inch chunk of greasy felt, amazing they do that well. Thanks for the comment and keep warm and well-spring is coming. O.R.

Please do follow up with additional testing with the paper disc ahead of the wad. "Very Interesting" to borrow from Hogans Hero's.

I like that idea (and line). Believe that line was also used in the tv series “Laugh in”. O.R.

    Interesting thought experiment.
In a somewhat related in my 72-150 Mukwa express cartridge experiment I had a lot voided air space to fill. So instead of a filler like cornmeal or grits, I used 12ga fiber wads. My first initial test was at 36 yards , found fiber wads as far as the target down range. I was using lead conicals from 680gr up as high 900 gr.
Speaking of experiment in the cap&ball sorta I should be receiving my most recent build. I will be revealing it at first as guess this gun and what makes it different on my channel soon.

I'd be very happy with that group at 21 yards. Those 2 'flyers'? Heck could be bullet problems. I know you didn't inspect and weigh every one (neither do I) so who knows. I wouldn't get too crazy about it.

You’re right. In the world of things, it doesn’t have much to do with the price of corn. O.R.

Missed YA! funny I just tested my last DIY propellant in the drive while teching two verry little kitties with a mamma GSP to use the Planter
I WOULD be In HEAVEN!if I could test Daily! or at my pleasures?
Sounds Like a Job for the rite camera? or More testing?
THANKS! I never thought about this?

In the modern bullet world, folks are pretty concerned about the bullet base, or at least so I hope read. Would think that some “wad” hitchhiking a ride to the target sure could cause issues. No camera, so more testing to see if the paper wad can make this thing work as well as lube. I know with lube, there is nothing going on behind the ball, except maybe some 3F granules roughing it up. Thanks Dave. O.R.
