Punch Out is the absolute best boxing game ever, almost 40 years later, its graphics still hold up, the diversity of the character roster, the actual learned/honed skill required to beat each fighter, and the audio cues are so satisfying. A masterclass in game development. Congrats on your TKO
When you update firmware, that's when you can change the one "custom" palette to any one of your liking. The AVS menu always calls it "custom" so you have to remember which palette you chose. I'm currently using the "Wavebeam" palette, but there are so many choices, just a slight hassle to swap out the one custom slot. I've had my AVS for a year now and absolutely love it. I got an Everdrive N8 Pro, loaded it with NES ROMs, Famicom ROMs, Famicom Disk System ROMs, and NSF sound files. The ability to play NES and Famicom carts as well as use the Everdrive N8 Pro for ROMs is so awesome. You've got to hear Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania 3 Famicom) on the AVS, the music is amazing compared to the NES. I use the 8bitDo N30 translucent black wireless controllers, they fit and feel perfect in the AVS.
I actually bought a N30 and it’s really good. I’m seriously tempted to try out the disk system version of Dracula’s Curse; the sound track of the NES version is already pretty awesome!
You should be able to as long as it has an HDMI input. It puts out a standard 4:3 ratio image so you’ll likely have black bars on the side, but it should work.
Thanks for that. I had to check on that before buying it. The one thing I hate the most are the black bars on the side. I recently bought the Analogue Super NT and the Analogue Mega SG on eBay and was very happy to find advanced video options when it comes to enabling full screen gameplay that doesn't cut into the subtitles at the bottom of the screen when playing RPG games. I love it when the screen is stretched and everything appears larger. 😊
That was a huge sigh of relief that you should suddenly mention that. I already paid for it two hours ago. Ha-ha. I wasn't expecting that you would get back to me. From past experience, whenever people via UA-cam tell me that they will get back to me with a follow up, it usually means they have politely given me the flick. Thanks for your time. Thank you for that additional information, I really appreciate it. And thanks for that great video review. It really helped in convincing me why I should buy it. I can now finally feel rest assured that what I will be receiving will be to my liking. Wishing you a happy Christmas. Take care. 🙂
Why do companies insist on making these things so ridiculously ugly?? Sea Foam Green paired with hot pink??? Aren't adults using these? How about...BLACK. Or dark gray. Maybe even light gray so it matches the cartridges. Maybe black with a fake woodgrain for a classy 70's throwback. At least it will look like furniture and not the ugliest dog toy ever. EDIT. Ok, the AVS is pretty decent looking. Surprised they made something that looks like an adult would buy it.
There are other versions of the Retron 5; I think the first one is mostly black and grey with some purple. The one I have is some kind of retro 90’s beach edition or something, lol!
@trekkiejunk the RetroUSB AVS got the design inspiration from the Nintendo Advanced Video System (AVS) that was a prototype that never came to be just prior to the NES. The accuracy of the plastic colors, buttons, and shaping pay homage to a blend of the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Nintendo AVS.
@@LanceDean -- Yeah, i made the first part of my comment at the very beginning of the video, but came back to add the second part after i was very surprised at how classy it actually came out. It's like the first was designed by 5 year olds, and the latter was designed by a thoughtful team. LOL

Thanks! It’s a pretty incredible game, definitely one of the best on the NES!

Hi. With this RetroUSB AVS gaming console, would I be able to play games in full screen via my Lenovo Legion 31.5" monitor?

I’ll check it tomorrow and see if theere’s an option for 16:9
So I checked and it CAN be full screen on 16:9. You change the pixel aspect in the video menu and it will fill out the screen. Glad I checked!

@trekkiejunk it’s kind funny considering it plays games that are 30+ years old!
