    Hi my name is Katarina, I'm 25, and I'm an avid car enthusiast. I own a 1981 ford mustang. My 81 is a pretty much base notchback with the 200 inline 6, c4 automatic, and is pretty much bone stock (for now).. Plus a 1986 ford mustang LX Convertible that has been swapped to a 302 orignally a 3.8 car. also just acquired a 1978 Honda Civic that is a one owner 120k original km car that has sat since May of 1995. I pretty much live and breathe vehicles. Everything from muscle, imports, trucks, modern, old take your pick. I know a ton about cars due to a ton of research and working on the cars that I have.

    The E55 was built to be the most powerful car in Australia at that time - easily more powerful than a Falcon GTHO Phase 3. Problem was (in Australia), we had a "Muscle Car" scare in the media as Chrysler were about to put these cars on sale. The media complained that cars were becoming too powerful and there would be blood on the streets. Chrysler de-tuned the engines. A friend of mine worked at Chrysler in Adelaide and he said all the guys working on the cars were heart broken.
    That car may be a piece of history.

    With the VJ-series Charger, the 340 V8 engine became an individual option (E55) available on any Charger 770 ... as opposed to being part of a package of options (E55) that comprised the VH-series Charger 770 SE.
    There were a total of 212 VJ Charger 770s manufactured with option E55 during the 1973/74 period, featuring a broad range of 16 body colours and 5 interior trim colours.
    This Canadian car has had a colour change from its original Sherwood Green metallic (code GN) paint ... there were 15 cars manufactured of this colour, within a range of 3 trim colours being Dark Saddle (C1), Parchment (L1), and Gold (Y1).

      @@randomdude4669 It's about knowledge really. American muscle cars are famous. Most people here have heard of the old Mustangs, Chargers, Camaros etc, and so people want them, despite the steering wheel being on the other side. You say "Holden Torana" or "Ford XB Falcon" though, and most people here haven't a clue. Also the Aussie cars tend to be a lot more expensive than the American ones, and the shipping distance is much further. At least American cars have MPH speedos.

  • @rossbrumby1957
    @rossbrumby1957 Рік тому +1

    Pretty sure the VJ's all had painted front blinker housings, the chrome ones are from a VK. Also the E55 being a 770 should have the remote control round mirrors, not the standard ones the lower models used. Not sure what you were saying about the rear indicators, but the indicator lights doubled as reversing lights in Australia on Valiants till the end in 81. New models had white reverse lights before 81 though. The 73 model had both mph and kmh on the speedo so I'd say that speedo is from 74 onward. (Dad had a 73 Ranger Wagon)

    • @rickmiller6767
      @rickmiller6767 Рік тому

      So wrong on some of your observations. Not all VJ's had the painted Bezels some indeed were chrome. The manual mirrors were standard equipment upgrades were the remote. The speedometer is the original one and has never been changed out. The reversing lights are just that, for reversing only and not combined with the indicator lights. Cheers Rick

      @@rickmiller6767 Not sure where you're getting your info. Chrome front indicator surrounds definitely were a model change item to VK, and the amber rear lights absolutely were combined indicator and reverse light. Red indicators were not legal in Aust at the time. White reverse lights were legal, but it was more convenient to combine them with the indicators. Had they not been, then they simply could have used clear lenses.

    The 340 became available in the VH series, marketed as a 770 SE. It was loaded with luxury features and the price was scary. The story goes that over three hundred 340 engines were imported to fit into a special Charger to do battle on the race tracks. A story to this day is both verified and refuted by former Chrysler Australia personal and executives. There was unknown to Chrysler, Ford or Holden that a media storm was about to blow up regarding cars that the big three had to produce to be eligable to compete in races and also be available to the general public. Chrysler canned the 340 Charger(disposing of the engines in an automatic luxury coupe with a single exhaust) and pulling out of motor sport altogether. Both Ford and Holden had specially designed cars ready for battle in the 1972 Bathurst race, but they too fearing government intervention pulled the plug on them. Bloody shame.

    great car my paremts bought one,but these left over motors with softer valves and springs were sent to canada,because american emmissions rulings were coming in and they sent these engines to canada because there emmissions ruling was less severe. early valiants came from canada because their right hand drive to,their still great motors but if you want to make a hi po motor you have to strengenthen the top end a lot.

Lots of 340 motors got sent back to the states because of the super car scam Iv owned 3 chargers 1 was one of the last 318 4 speed built . Tamworth NSW sold one of the last 318 charger in a cream. White with black pin stripes on the boot an drifter style stripes on the side. The sales man said to me an my brother take a good look it’s the last one we’re getting. A bloke up the road from me out of town traded his blue VJ charger in on it His drive way always had big dirt track onto the road we’re he would give it a boot full. Same as my drive way spin the dirt up as you leave in my VC V8 or my Vf pacer or my VG pacer An my VH pacer factory 4 speedo an rare great times. Please keep that charger of salt 🧂 roads 👍🏻😀
