I’ve circuit raced one for years with 265ci running triple 50mm side draft Weber carburettors. They are a a lot of fun to punt around. Handle exceptionally well for a 70’s car.
Trunk key reminds me of the old Fury 2 or 3 in 69-72? Had it on the far right side. A old friend of mine had a good one he got from the service station his Dad gave him and he run it until he got sick from always having his hands in oli , transmission fluid , grease, Gasoline, AV fuel , and Racing Gas. He sold them all at the Exxon then ExxonMobil station he had only a office and one door 2 bays , one lift and a drive over pit . I believe that his was a 70 or 71 4 door 383 auto car.
Chargers were my hero car from 3 years old, i remember singing along with the tv ad jingle! Got one at 16 in 1986- it was a 71 Charger XL (mid range) 265 column auto, 2 barrel Carter carb stock standard all over bar the 14×7 performance mags. The one in the video looks to be a mashup tribute- the 4 on the front guard indicated 4 speed which came in in 72 with the top performing E-49 6 pack with triple webbers. The chrome 265 air cleaner is what came with the "2 barrel R/T- a mild 218 hp version of the 265 which also the standard motor in the VH Valiant Pacer 4 door. Chargers are way above my price range these days- not much chance of getting a roadworthy legally driveable one for less than AU$25,000 now.
I don't know how I missed this or how it come up, but I am so happy that it did!! Thank you for sharing this with us Bob and 880! Great day to you and good morning to you all!
Yeah I'm an Aussie had 5 Valiants in my life. First a 1969 VF, then a, 1974 VJ, 1973 VJ, 1980 CM, and the one I loved the most a 1966 VC. So look them up & see what they look like. I took to them when I was down in Melbourne, Victoria, I live in Queensland. I was working Victoria, I'm a house painter by trade, & was talking to a mechanic over the fence at the job I was on when he told me Chrysler engineering was always superior to Ford & General Motors. So I took notice of Chrysler Dodge from that point on. Never had a Charger. But just love Valiants. Big tough reliable car. Plenty of guts at low revs. Valiants made 4 door performance cars also. The most famous Valiants had the triple weber 6 pack manifold bolted onto them they just burnt the V/8's of Ford & Holden like they were standing still. Have a look at the Australian muscle cars. The GMH Holden Monaro, the Holden is just a little Chevy. Look at the GTHO 351V/8 Ford Falcon. All these muscle cars are 4 door Sedans.
Hi Bob, just saw your post. If you haven’t already search up E49 Valiant charger. It’s the fastest one Chrysler Australia produced. It came factory with triple webers carbs on the 6 cyclinder and produced 302 bhp. It was the fasted 6 cylinder car in the world for 20 years + Regard’s Brendon
I paused at 1 minute 14 seconds and my guess is it's Australian and it was raced a team effort by horado I believe it was a factory team effort over there and they raced against those phase 1... 2.. 3 Fords. Okay here I go go to go back see how I did was I correct
Never heard of such a beautiful car.

Just to let you know, those 'Jellybean' alloys are factory installed for those cars, nobody's added them.
