The 770 isn’t the next step below the RT 6 cylinder cars it’s the Charger 340 v8 4 barrel . It was supposed to take over from the E49 Charger but because of the uproar in Australia at the time about 160 mph super cars that any teenager could walk into a dealer and buy ( it was still pricey so not many teenagers could have afforded it anyway ) but governments being what they are and the media getting involved killed off further development of the Chargers and For Falcon GT’s. So only 525 Charger 340’s were built between 1972 and 1974 as option E55 both in VH and VJ guise they were supposed to have been fitted with 4 speed manuals but because of what was stated earlier Chrysler decided to give the the 770 luxo name ( that’s what it is it’s the luxury Charger not necessarily the performance version only ) and mated it to a727 torquflite box , I owned a 1973 Charger not a 770 but a very rare E55 optioned VJ all the VH models were 770’s but of the total build of 525 around 125-150 were VJ variants . So if you want one of the rarest Chargers built go find an E55 340 it’s the same hi po motor from the Cuda as Chrysler imported them directly from the States . Hope this helps but good to see that Aussie muscle cars are still well thought of in the USA. Regards fro Rob in Melbourne Australia .

My next door neighbour (Yorke Peninsula, South Australia), bought a brand new 1973 VJ Charger E55 340 when he was only 18 years old !! Kept the car many years then sold it. I'm sure he wishes he still had it !!

I think yours is better. Those 318's weren't popular here in New Zealand. They were hungry on fuel and couldn't go any faster than the 6's.

@@peterwiremuormsby9383yeah'the 6 cyls are good' all of my valiants except for one were sixes' but I like v8's more really 'I had a vf regal 318 and loved it for the extra torque and the sound' although it was a bit dangerous because of being light at the rear end' and would sometimes spin out and have you pointed in the opposite direction. I'm also in NZ 'and have a slant6 ap6 regal 'and my dads vh ranger 245 hemi 6🙂👍

@@barrycuda3769 Hullo Barrycuda. I still got 2Chargers. Ones a VJ and the other one is a VH but I put a VJ front and the electronic ignition it. My brother pick up a VJ Ranger so that's where I the front and ignition from. We put the VH charger parts on it before he sold it. I also put a 318 in a VJ Ute. It was HUNGRy so we put it on LPG. I got a mate in Turangi who bought an ex Rod Coppins E49. That thing go.
Before he got the E49 he had a VJ, which he bought brand new. He had a Pacer then a Ute and brought a panel van back from Ozzie. He's got a Jeep at the moment.
      Cheers m8
