- For this installment of Deep Dives, Erica returns to tell you all about our packaging-free (or as we like to call them - naked) products. These solid products are a great alternative to packaged items and are the most environmentally friendly way of enjoying your favorite Lush treats! When it comes to the packaging we do use, all of it is 100% post-consumer recycled plastics. And remember, bring back five black Lush plastic pots to your local store for a free fresh face mask!

One of my personal favorite aspects of the naked products is how easily they travel. I never have to stress about reaching liquid limits, and I still get my favorite products.
Do a video about the diffrent toothpastes you have. The powder one I really want to know more about.
EditSMU i’ve tried two of the powders and maybe 3 or 4 of the toothy tabs and i find the toothy tabs to be better! boom is my fav. it makes my teeth soooo white.

Great effort guys! However I feel that there's still land to conquer. A lot of the Zero waste movement is based on re-fills, do you think you'll ever go in that direction?
from what i understand, the reason they have the black pot return instead of refills is purely for hygienic reasons. because there is a shorter shelf life than most cosmetics because of fresh, plant based ingredients and reduced synthetic preservatives, containers would become unhygienic quickly. this is why when you return your containers they are chipped down and remelted into new pots instead of just cleaned and refilled. i don't know if you're aware of the state of most of the containers returned but they're real gross and need to be cleaned in store.
A breakdown of moisturizers would be awesome!
Since I started reducing-our-impact a year ago, between my bf and I, we have cut out 45 plastic containers a year from our lives.
Even one small change helps!
I started with 2 shampoo bars (one for each of us) and over time, I found natural alternatives to other items to fit my lifestyle.

Huge fan of Erica! She is such a great face for LUSH. Would love to see some more products have naked options, like Ro's argon. Or even see products switch from packaged to naked, like the shower gels. Please consider taking about ethical sourcing. I think that is such an important part about Lush that a lot of people don't think of. I know for me it is a good reminder when I am shopping that the purchase price benefits everyone from the farmer, compounder, and the sales teams.
Lusg have tons of videos on UA-cam about their suppliers, the farmers they source ingredients from, and the ethical initiatives they are involved with 😉
Cameron Acheson well there is a new naked product, but it’s only available on the lush UK website. it’s called ro’s argan sparkly, and it’s a naked body conditioner, and people have been saying pretty good things about it.
For Christmas LUSH Australia has a naked ro’s argan body conditioner!! I hope that’s released for wherever you are so you can go and grab it today! It’s in stores!

This is such a good video! I'm glad you guys covered this topic! I'm so happy that this company takes responsibility when it comes to cleaning up our plant. I love the suggestions below about ultrabland and the toothy tabs. I'd like to know what ingredients help clean teeth in each kind you carry. I have one more suggestion; so a lot of people come into lush and don't understand why you don't do sales and why things are priced higher. I know there are separate videos on where you source ingredients but we should the it into these videos. Like talk about Ro's Argan body conditioner and mention where the roses are sourced from. Also a charity pot deep dive on some of the grassroots organizations that you support would be a good one too.

i love that lush has such a great passion for naked products! however, i was sad to find out that they were packaged in non recyclable plastic when they arrived . hope this can change espiesialy for people like me who dont live close to a lush!
She explains around 6:30 that all the shipping packaging is compostable.
Yeah the packing peanuts are actually edible and melt once in contact with water. And the "plastic" wrap is actually compostable cellulose fiber.
When they arrived instore? Or when you had them delivered?

I had a Jason And The Argan Oil. It melted and turned into a goop.
I had that happen too, the employee at Lush was super helpful. These said because they use Agar Agar seaweed, it makes it a little softer and reduces the amount of surfactants. They urged me to make sure I kept them dry in between uses and showed me how to store them in the tins. Hope this helps!
PumpkinWrath I keep mine stored in a small tin making sure that there is no excess water before storing :) hope this can help.
You guys should make a naked hair gel, or like a naked hair wax
yaaaas I love lush and their philosophies. Wish they had a more normal textured toothpaste tho that's the one thing I can't get behind haha
I love all the naked things! I’m hoping you change non naked packaging to being glass or biodegradable containers. There’s lots of things I want but I will not buy because of the plastic containers. Or to do a bring your own container option.

The closest lush to where i live is 6 hours away so It’s hard to come often and buy fresh🙁 I have to savour all the lush I buy because I only get there a few times a year

Hi, Abbey! You can for sure bring them back in shop to be recycled but they don't, unfortunately, count towards the 5 pot program.

The idea of the toothy tabs is so great but i do not understand why they are packaged in a little plastic bottle
Our Toothy Tabs were packaged in a cardboard box in the past. We found that the cardboard packaging would often get wet leading to the 'Toothy Tabs' being damaged, which is definitely something we do not want for our customers. As a result we have changed to the current recycled plastic packaging which keeps the Toothy Tabs dry and is far more efficient at preventing breakage and other damage.
LUSH Cosmetics North America I will not buy them because they are in plastic. If they were in cardboard I would. Lots of us who are into low waste are aware now that there really isn’t a lot of plastic being recycled anymore now that China isn’t accepting a lot and smaller facilities cannot keep up with all the plastic so they are actually still dumping them in landfills :(
I would love it if you could have them in large jars and we could bring our own containers from home and scoop them into there like a “bulk section” at a super market

Why not recycle the toner and body spray bottles, mascara tubes and other product that come in that black plastic?
Hi there, lovely! The reason why only our black pots are eligible to trade in for a Fresh Face Mask is because they are often sorted incorrectly at typical facilities and we want to encourage our Lushies to bring them in. That being said, while they won't qualify to trade in for a mask, we're more than happy to recycle any of our Lush packaging for you at our shops! 😊
I don't really care if I get a free face mask or not I just don't want anything to end up in landfill. I live in the Philippines and the stores here won't recycle them. And I dunno why so I avoid buying any of those items.
