    Time: 1 hour
    Cost: $250
    Skill Level: Beginner
    Tools List for Installing a Water Filter:
    Wrench [amzn.to/2GU675A]
    Bucket [amzn.to/2UTm8fM]
    Shopping List:
    Water filtration system
    Steps:
    1. Start by shutting off the cold water line underneath the kitchen sink. The cold should always be to the right.
    2. Open the faucet to release any cold water that’s in the line upstream of the shutoff valve.
    3. Place a small bucket or tray underneath the cold water line underneath the sink to catch any extra water that might fall out. Then, break the water connection using a wrench.
    4. Connect the adapter that comes with the kit to the hose.
    5. Push the black tubing that also comes with the kit into the adapter on one end and the filter on the other. The back of the filter has images that indicate which pipe should receive which tube.
    6. Connect the second adapter to the water shutoff valve. Push the black tubing that came from the filter to the shutoff.
    7. Turn the water back on.
    8. Run the sink for 5-10 minute increments according to the instructions that come with the kit to activate the carbon and fully filter the water.
    Resources:
    Richard installed the Advanced Water Filtration System, which is manufactured by Kube (amzn.to/2V9S7xg). It comes with a kit of adapters and connectors so that it’s easy to connect it with whatever pipes you have underneath your sink. The only other tool required for installation is a wrench, which can be found at any home center.
    The retro faucet the homeowner had in her kitchen is called the Dishmaster M76 Imperial Four (amzn.to/2DJ0S6T), which can still be found on the manufacturer’s website and on some third party sites.

    My wife loves TOH. She actually gets a lot of ideas for our home from here - and I get a lot of tips on how to do the projects she gets ideas for lol. Thanks to the entire crew for so many years of helping others. :)

    Watched this video a few months ago, purchased the Kube based on TOH's recommendation. Just installed it, and it was quick and easy (able to get it done in less than 20, even with two kids hollering in the background). Now we'll look to judge its longevity.

      @@stevelopez2546 It's doing great! No issues whatsoever. I think it's almost 2 years old. I can really tell the difference it makes if I drink water from any other sinks in the house. We're on our second set of filters, which lasted longer than expected (I know this is relative to the water source, so I can thank our city water for being pretty decent) and switching the filters out was easy, no leaks. Definitely recommend!

    No. Eventually you’ll realize you need to wash a bunch of things with cold water and you’re gonna run down your filter. You need to put a separate faucet. Don’t waste your time with this unless you live in an apartment where u can’t drill hole in the sink (for faucet). Edit: not to mention the price of the filters.

      More like back then quality and longevity was important. Now it's about squeezing as much money as possible out of the consumer. Hence why everything is designed to last maybe a decade at most. Plastics replace metals overly complicated designs needless features.

      @augustreil 5 років тому +2

      @@jtstacey83, Agree, I hate the electronic stuff that just has to be on every appliance these days. I need a stove/oven to heat a pan, bake whatever and a washer/dryer to do just that, wash them, then dry them. It's very simple !

    • @alexanderscott2456
      @alexanderscott2456 5 років тому +1

      @James
      I disagree. People vote with their own pocketbooks that they prefer an appliance that is built to last 10 to 20 years yet costs a fraction of their grandparents paid. What is the benefit in paying two or three times the price if you’re only getting a relatively small increase in longevity? The cost/benefit ratio derived by most people is astoundingly greater than the past considering how much more they paid. And there are features past generations couldn’t have paid for at any price.
