I think the idea is that you mark and drill from both sides, they meet in the middle, and the sleeve is inserted to bypass whatever wondering occurred in between the two drilled points.

That was the most impressive part of the vid/build ... Just drilled freehand, no doubt skilled enough to drill holes 'straight' into the work piece ... Bravo!

He marked the center in both sides, then drilled half in each side, so, it is not necessary to be perfect on the space between holes, but at the start of these; when he introduced the metal insert, it goes straight from side to side, even if it is not perfect on the middle space.
@@Frandon33 So they touch the mark on the wood. The thickness of the acrylic can cause a small parallax error, perhaps 0.5 mm, but even that much is best avoided.
Nice idea. It however doesnt cover drill size, wood thickness and my very first question: Why drilling 2 holes of specific distance, when you afterwards have to shift tool inbetween drills? There is some air left for tool version 2 ;)) Good job.

It all depends on HOW MANY times You have to do that job to justify the jig.

I found on Amazon. I used stainless steel. Brass was to soft.

Hand drilled precision? Riiiiight...
Freehand drilling is never perpendicular. It doesn’t matter how good you think you are.

Весьма специфичная приспасоба. Для плотников и столяров. Нужная штука. Упрощает процес работы .
приспособа только для данной толщины бруска, если брус будет толще , то придётся делать новую приспособу

You should use a non alcohol marker or paint to inlay the lines, alcohol can dry out the plexi and it will crack over time
Doesn't the alcohol evaporate rather quickly?

He says it's for a 1"x4" At that angle, I'd assume the hardwood of the jig is 1"x4"x2". The acrylic is 1/4" by 8"

Better keep track of which side of the board to go off otherwise the 2 surfaces won't be flush.
