Basically, the whole game was you bringing Cortana to Chief on the Pillar of Autumn. The last scene with the ship flying towards the Halo is the the start of H:CE
That's not chief you see during the cutscene, it's Linda who's put in a cryo-chamber. Just gonna copy paste if you're interested: "Main article: Fall of Reach Linda was aboard UNSC Pillar of Autumn for a short time until the Fall of Reach. She was designated as Blue-Two, part of John-117's team to Reach Station Gamma to destroy the unsecured NAV database of ONI's UNSC Circumference. During that mission, James was out of commission (and presumed KIA) so she and John were forced to enter the station, which was filled with Sangheili and Kig-Yar Rangers. She found the bay and assisted Staff Sergeant Johnson's squad in holding off the Covenant forces long enough to escape. However, as they jumped out of their Pelican to open the bay doors, she was hit by several overcharged bolts from plasma pistols and plasma rifles which penetrated her armor and flesh all the way to the carbonized bone. One of the globules of plasma hit her in the back of the skull. Linda was recovered by John, but her vitals flatlined, and she was presumed dead." "John-117, disheartened over the death of his close teammate, took her to the cryo facilities where they immediately froze Linda's body in a Cryo-chamber. Pillar of Autumn then jumped to Installation 04." (Installation 04 being the halo in the next cutscene)
Ipatchy Makouli It was confirmed by the creative director of Halo that it is Chief in the cryo pod. It’s just an non-canon Easter egg though since Chief’s pod was somewhere else on the ship in Combat Evolved.
Just an fyi, the very first mission of Halo is called "The Pillar of Autumn" so longtime players felt massive feels when the last mission happened in Reach.
@Jochem Boon That's not what he meant. He meant that Reach was made before Rogue One. Which is true, Since Halo: Reach came out in 2010, and Rogue One came out in 2016.

19:35 Carter: Jun, make sure nothing falls into enemy hands. Jun: I’ll do what’s necessary, sir... If Halsey was captured or they were being overrun, he was meant to execute her. I didn’t know this at first, I read it somewhere, can’t remember where.

Yeah the leaders of a religious space cult decided to kill humanity because they were the the chosen ones by a old civilization and themselves were not.
Fun fact, the elite that killed Dee at 28:24 (and right after he respawned) was a specialist elite that was hunting noble team throughout the campaign. He was also the one who killed Kat from the phantom. [he is special in game because he is the only enemy that can change his weapon, at 28:34 he swapped to a sword when Dee got close]
Playing CE will make you understand the ending more, and heres a cool fact: Not all of noble team died, Jun survived, and he is very important in the newer halo games' lore.
i love how invested in the story he got here, made his reactions so genuine, too often i see people play this with no emotion cause they arent as into it, great series im glad you played it dee bee, youll have a great time playing the others, have fun spartan

You can't even imagine the number of Easter eggs in this game. All the community homages. The goodbye and thank you note from bungie in the credits. So much love went into this game
Tbf Reach works great as a standalone game, if you play Halo 3 without context you might not feel a lot of emotions. If you don't play "The library" or "Quarantine zone" you might don't care at all about the little plot twist in "The covenant". With that said, 3's campaign it's my favorite too.
DeeBeeGeek, Halo Wars 2 should be last on your list before Infinite and I recommend to actually play that one, it’s an awesome campaign to play, and Halo Wars 2 takes place after Halo 5
its a bit late, but important to note, Noble team had active covenant teams hunting them throughout the campaign, Kat was killed by one of these teams when they basically gave up their location using open comms. it wasn't some lucky chance, it was a hunter getting a successful kill on noble team.
Considering how the Sangheili view worthy warriors with some amount of respect, even Humans, I bet those Elites that finally killed Noble 6 were left impressed.
Kat's death has got to be the most impactful of the whole game because it shows that no matter how powerful spartans are, they can die due to sheer bad luck. Kat died because of a series of unlucky events happening. Carter talking on the radio with Holland allowed the Covenant to track and locate Noble Team, the glassing knocked out their shields making them vulnerable, Kat missed the elevator button the first time, putting her and Noble Six a couple seconds behind the rest of the group which put her in the perfect position to be shot by a jackal in an overhead phantom.
Keato I love halo Reach because the setting is just something i’ve never seen in a game. It actually feels like a war and not just aliens with “pew pew” guns. You can feel the melancholy and agony of the war. Maybe it’s not the best in story telling, but definitely the most immersive and impactful halo game. Master Chief is amazing but he feels so powerful (which he is supposed to be like that), but there’s something about being a Spartan 3 that makes you feel like you’re really in danger.
*Pillar of Autumn flies away* Me: Off to do “A New Hope” Edit: seeing how much people seemed to enjoy my comment I must say I’m not the one who thought of this at first. If you want to go to “the source” you can visit *SuddenlyOranges* UA-cam channel. It’s pretty fun ^^
Rogue one is literally just Halo reach A small squad is trying to stop the bad thing No one likes the protagonist at the beginning The planet is destroyed and everybody dies (except Jun) They transfer the valuable object to the military directly leading into the first game/movie
I'm still just waiting for him to see the 3rd blur cutscene (end of mission 1) of halo 2.... I'm extremely hyped for that. Also I know that the old graphics are iconic but the gameplay is where the nostalgia is. He just definitely play and watch cutscenes with the anniversary graphics on.
Tristan Garcia The brightness increase happened because of The Library and for some reason they also applied it to 343 Guilty Spark. I'm guessing to keep the aesthetic or the new art design consistent.
Dee Bee lovin all the Halo Content as of recent, but with all this Halo and space awesomeness. It reminds me of another franchise.. One which is just about on par with Halo. That Franchise is Mass Effect! I would love to see you do a reacts to all the trailers and maybe even a run through of the games! Keep doing your thing brother! PS... Don't let Kat Drive.
Reach is by far the most powerful game I have ever played. Right next to the original. This was the perfect going out for Bungie. The best story by far. The music. The visuals. I still go back and play this game to this day.
Two Banshees zoom past as the view pans down to Noble Six, standing alone on a raised platform, stranded on Reach. Phantoms start to approach the Spartan’s position, and Six gets ready for the final battle. There'll be Another Time… Can you survive? Alone? The Covenant decided long ago to take Reach and no single man- make that no single Spartan could stop them. You fought long and hard and gave Reach your all to achieve this point. Fight if you must, but understand that you owe Reach nothing. Your efforts will line on the annals of history, and all of humanity will sing your praises for centuries to come. Be the Lone Wolf if you desire and fight for all you can, but you know this is not a battle you can win. It is time to say goodbye.
Yes, in halo 3 odst, in the last mission there is a line of dialogue in which buck says "repeat the reach" and veronica responds "you left there and you will leave this"
Not so fun fact: The elite Zealot that escaped during Winter Contingency when Emile asked Carter to pursue and he denied it. Is the same Zealot that sniped Kat from the Phantom and later killed Emile with his Energy Sword.
From the books I knew reach was going to fall from the start. Seeing it from the perspective of a new team of Spartans, getting to know them, and watching them fall one by one was tragic. then even watching the character I grew to love as much as the Master Chief die was an emotional trip. It really set in stone the dire straits humanity was on in a way the main series doesn't. It puts the whole story in a new perspective that I believe makes the rest of the series even more suspenseful and enjoyable. Watching you get sucked into the Halo franchise has been a beautiful nostalgia trip I thought I would never have. I can't wait to see what you have coming next.
Can't wait for CE. The last couple of missions and the importance of the AI, Captain Keyes and the Pillar of Autumn will become so much clearer once you've begun playing that. I hope you found and Xbox to play it on :)
"Winston Churchill said some centuries ago that history is written by the victors. Perhaps he was correct for his time, though one would be hard-pressed to find any true victors in the conflict against the Covenant. The trials of our Great War are burnt into the surface of almost every human colony, our worlds reduced to ash, once defended by a faithful few against insurmountable odds. Perhaps now it is more correct to say that history is written by the survivors, whether victorious or not. The sacrifices of this war are so numerous that time does not bear repeating them all. Countless men and women of the UNSC fought and died for our species' survival"
Incase you didn't know when carter order jun make sure nothing falls into enemy hands at 19:36 , he meant that jun have to kill halsey so the covies won't steal the data
I remember when I was young and got to the ending,I was tearing up,and I think what hit me hard was that I was fighting hard at the end to survive...but it was pointless
I teared up so bad, at the point I played reach I had only played odst, it was shocking to me because in odst I vividly remember the intro talking about humanity just being slaughtered by the covenant in a horrifying way, wondering new mombasa streets at night and seeing all that destruction and death made me wonder about the covenant violence in their battles, and then I played reach and experienced first hand what the odst intro was talking about... especially after just seeing Grafton being obliterated in seconds by that supercarrier, and the ultimate sinking feeling came to me when I saw all those Spartan corpses on the last mission and thought to myself "if all those Spartans are dead... then what hope is there left for me?"
The truth of the matter is that the whole war was pointless, but for the Covenant. For humanity, it was one of the most important battles of the war, and they lost.
Remember reach, and remember noble team for getting cortana to chief and saving humanity, they had to kill 6 for the plot because if 6 and chief teamed up the enemy would have no chance

She died because her shields were off in a combat zone, that’s against spartan protocol. They had been resting in that area, and she put her shields down, she forgot to put them back up when they got glassed. I always thought that it added to the irony of her death because she was the smart one, and died not only because her brains were blown out, but alas because she made a simple mistake.

Basically, the whole game was you bringing Cortana to Chief on the Pillar of Autumn. The last scene with the ship flying towards the Halo is the the start of H:CE

Ashes 2Ashes That’s not a spoiler, literaly Halsey say it and you can move the camera to see chief
@@VenomEmi still, no reason to spell the whole thing out
That's not chief you see during the cutscene, it's Linda who's put in a cryo-chamber.
Just gonna copy paste if you're interested:
"Main article: Fall of Reach
Linda was aboard UNSC Pillar of Autumn for a short time until the Fall of Reach. Linda was recovered by John, but her vitals flatlined, and she was presumed dead."
"John-117, disheartened over the death of his close teammate, took her to the cryo facilities where they immediately froze Linda's body in a Cryo-chamber.
30:30 When I first saw this scene I got goosebumps and my jaw dropped. The legendary beginning of Halo CE was all able to happen BECAUSE of Noble

Halo Reach to Halo: CE is like Rogue One is to A New Hope
More like Rogue One to A New Hope is Halo Reach to Halo CE
Halo Reach was made first
@Jochem Boon That's not what he meant. He meant that Reach was made before Rogue One. Which is true, Since Halo: Reach came out in 2010, and Rogue One came out in 2016.
It kinda is like that, but in the case of halo, it's way better.
Halo reach opened some holes in the storyline if you look at fall of reach

DeeBeeGeek, Halo Wars 2 should be last on your list before Infinite and I recommend to actually play that one, it’s an awesome campaign to play, and Halo Wars 2 takes place after Halo 5
Reach holds up. Visually, story, and gameplay.
its a bit late, but important to note, Noble team had active covenant teams hunting them throughout the campaign, Kat was killed by one of these teams when they basically gave up their location using open comms. it wasn't some lucky chance, it was a hunter getting a successful kill on noble team.
Kats death cutscene gets to me. So does the ending speech. Remember Reach. Hope to see you play CE and the others!
Btw the ai you were escorting was cortana master cheifs ai
Can't wait for your CE live stream XD
Considering how the Sangheili view worthy warriors with some amount of respect, even Humans, I bet those Elites that finally killed Noble 6 were left impressed.
I hope Master Chief killed them later on.
The scene with the AI underground with the beautiful music is a homage to the earlier games and you will be hearing it more
And this, this is why halo reach is my favourite game.
Don’t get me wrong I love Reach, but really? Halo Reach is your Favorite? Halo 3 All the wya

From the books I knew reach was going to fall from the start. Seeing it from the perspective of a new team of Spartans, getting to know them, and watching them fall one by one was tragic. then even watching the character I grew to love as much as the Master Chief die was an emotional trip.
At 8:47,
