Something interesting to note, on the final mission, Lone Wolf: Noble Six is surrounded by dead marines and Spartans and has, canonically, been fighting for hours, perhaps even days. Even when every last human on the planet was gone, Noble Six kept going until it took quite literally the Covenant's equivalent to Noble Team (those Zealots you saw throughout the game) to take just her down. Hyper lethal indeed.
I thought of the zealot squad the same too, I think the group that hunted you down from the beginning up until you kill them before getting on the mac were called the "Devoted Sentries"
If you use the in game time references then you can see Noble 6 only fought for a few hours. The hyper lethal title was retconned. It was just a throwaway line in one of the trailers. All Spartans are considered hyper lethal.
Especially when you realize he probably wasn't wasting his last breath on the Elite. It was always the intention that 6 was the one to walk, Emile had the gun after all. Then once he gets stabbed, he's probably literally asking 6 "You ready to stay behind?"
Fun fact: In the first mission, when you see the Zealot Elite in the cutscene, he nearly stabs you with a wristblade but your character blocks it and Carter then pushes the Elite off of you. In the last mission, the final strike to Noble Six comes from the same Elite type with the same weapon. It's just a small detail that I haven't seen a lot of people mention.
Even better, I'm a little rusty on my Reach lore, but that same Field Marshall (The elite class) from the first mission is the same Field Marshall you fight as you make your way up to the MAC in the Pillar of Autumn. He is also, I believe, the elite that killed Kat.

this broke me at the end cause i was like o we are taking the planet now and i see at the top objective "survive" and me not knowing English but seeing it reassembled " sobrevive" had me at the edge of my seat for what happened next T^T
You probably don't know, but there's an app for Android (it has been taken down and you have to mod it for it to work) but the "Cortana virtual assistant" that was available for windows 10 mobile was ported to android, it was literally Cortana who was helping you very much like Alexa and Siri, she was even capable of impersonating Yoda, answer some questions about John and the normal voice assistant shenanigans.

My favorite part of Reach is when Kat and Noble 6 get on the elevator and Kat says "First glassing? Me too." It's such a well delivered line and you can hear the fear in her voice. It's a reminder that the Spartans are in fact human.
2:03:24 Cortana was created with a scan of Halseys brain. Meaning she was a part of Halsey. I believe it was her love and care for John that imprinted on Cortana.
She was created via flash cloning Halsey brain you can only scan a living brain but afterward the brain is damaged and unrevivable thus is only done to people who have already died and or are in the process of dying
I bawled my eyes out when my character died. Playing the Halo series you grow up thinking you’ll get out somehow someway like master-chief. Watching noble six die was heartbreaking for me.
i guess for you younger generations , that was like your "optimus prime moment" ... ok bare with me i'ma genXer here. i was already an adult when halo 1 came out and 30 soemthign when reach came out. lol still ahuge halo fan. any way some explaination: in the 1986 cartoon movie for transformers they had optimus prime die. to say the least it tramatized many kids that saw it in the theatres. I was 7 years old when that movie came out and it was devestating at the time to think they actually killed optimus... but well that's life and i came out better for it later down the road helped deal with so much worse stuff in life later on.
@Nonamearisto they were still trained under ONI as a top secret program. S051 Kurt, a Spartan-II, actually trained all 3 companies. It was so top secret, Kurt's death was faked so the few people who knew he existed in the first place thought he died... So technically they already belonged to ONI. My guess is, they were reassigned to Reachs planetary defense army to assist in the defense of the planet and when they went back for Halsey, they were reassigned BACK to ONI. Seems to me like a small oversight in the writing probably due to the lack of lore surrounding the Spartan-IIIs at the time.
Carter: "Six! That A.I. chose you. She made the right choice." So much meaning behind such a short simple line. Six was initially some random new-blood replacement to a seasoned Noble team that had seen action together for a long time. And yet, Carter not only accepts six as an official member but also to say that Cortana chose the right spartan for such an important task, speaks volumes of growth and trust. Even more so when Carter gives his life for six to complete the mission.
Noble 6 was not a newbie. Its stated his ONI file is a mile long and most of it is completely classified. In fact, 6 is considered to have a resume only second to Master Chief himself.
That was just an acknowledgment from Carter about Noble Six being a lone wolf. At that point, there were only 2 of them left, and Carter was going to die. So it was just Carter giving the Six permission to be a lone wolf.
Emile has a rare line about his brother giving his life to protect him from the covenant, and how he hs to repay that debt. He fights for vengeance, even now years later. He's devoted his life to it, and that's why he accepts his spot on the gun and is "ready" when he's stabbed. He's been expecting his death ever since he was saved, and even if he's feared it at times and covered it with jokes, he's not ready until he tells Six to get off the planet.
Funfact the covenant was traumatized from fighting Noble Six to the point they thought Chief Was Noble Six Reincarnated Or A Copy Of Noble Six And Noble Six is suppose to be an inferior Spartan compared to Master Chief

I love the environmental detail in the Package when you go through the same areas as mission 2, except where there used to be cliffs and valleys now there's a sea beause all the ice is melting from Covenant scorching planet's surface
Six manages to kill the Field Marshall of the Devoted Sentries by the MAC gun, but we see another in her final moments. Being so honour bound, the Sanghelli choosing to engage Six in melee is a clear sign of their wounded pride. They want to restore honour by executing her personally. Just goes to show how important NOBLE team became to the covenant, their deaths were personal after they killed the Commander aboard the Super carrier.

The pinkish and blue elites you kill on your way up to the big gun are the elites that are responsible for Cat's death, same ones you encounter in the very beginning where they almost stab you in first person. Avenged Kat's death!
this game hit so hard back in the day when we thought it was the last halo, like a final goodbye (which btw, i think when put in that context makes Halsey's last speech sadder, "too bad you never lived to see it" back then felt like bungie telling us they are leaving forever and halos journey is over, as we know now though 343 picked it up)
Man the ending still gets me Anybody wants some fries and chicken nuggets after this I am making them Reason why: I remember my little brother telling me he wanted to play halo reach I introduced him to the series and he has overall enjoyed it When he got to halo reach he felt so saddened by the ending he put his face down I asked if he was okay He said yes but I knew he was saddened at what happened so I went downstairs made my bother some fries and chicken nuggets dad comes in and asked you making yourself some lunch I said no it’s for my brother he just played one of the best/sad/hopeful halo story’s ever and after it was all done I went and took his food upstairs to my room(he was hanging out) and I told him eat up Spartan you did good 👍🙂

The likely reason 343i took out the credits to Reach is because it names a lot of people that don't work in 343 anymore. It would probably be a legal issue thing with Bungie if they didn't.
I've loved reach's ending cause the death is more impactful due to it being your character you made. It hurts more to lose something you've made. Also you notice Keys reaction to noble staying behind hurts him
1:46:11 exactly how i felt when i first played Reach on the 360 back in the day but as i replayed it i realized that the game was a story not about Surviving but about holding the Covenant off at the Bastion of Humanity, because that's what Reach was: a Fortress for humanity because if Reach Fell The UNSC knew Earth was next that's also why Halsey had Cortana decrypting the data from the Artifact beneath S.W.O.R.D. base to find a solution to The Covenant's onslaught against Humanity( too bad we found something worse than the covenant in the process)
Fun fact, Master Chief was taking part in the fighting in Reach, and that's when he first met Cortana too, but then he was placed into cryo-sleep and sent into the Pillar of Autumn, this happens right before you receive Cortana in the game. You can also see Master Chief in the cryo pod on the Legendary difficulty ending.
@@thrilltokill5409 If it was that easy the war wouldn't have lasted 30 years. In the grand scheme theres not much 2 Spartans can do against billions of Covenant soldiers and hundreds of ships. What typically happens is Spartans do what they can to stall the Covenant so civilians can be evacuated then they get picked up before they are stranded and overwhelmed.
Also fun fact at 51:00 that frigate you go through is the unsc commonwealth, the frigate from the book(fall of reach) and the animated series, pretty cool detail
This popped up in my feed out of the blue, and I'm pretty glad. I usually check out videos where people react to the character deaths and story beats. But I have to say, I really appreciate the perspective you bring to the table as someone who has read the Fall of Reach book.
So it’s ironic how each one went out. Jorge went out in space above the planet he said he’d never leave and by a bomb as he’s the heavy. Kat went out by a faulty shield and she’s the one that’s tech savvy. Carter as the leader went down with the ship quite literally. Emile went out by a sword and he has an obsession with blades. And Noble 6 went out all alone. As the lone wolf.
All the halo games get so much more tragic and dark the more lore you know, playing as a kid I did not know the spartan 3s are all artificially adulted so most are literally 13-16 children in grown bodies fighting a war
@@dixon137 It's very interesting to see that after enough time has passed, Halo fans are able to relax a bit, take a more fair and objective look at Halo 4, and realize that the story and characters are not as bad as everyone made it out to be when it first launched. Is it the best Halo story wise, no. But it dives into some interesting stuff and goes deeper into characters that we never got before.
@@lilfuzzballa I... recognize the deeper dive that Halo 4 took, however, I feel it was very poorly paced. I feel like they should have done things in a slower pace. The game starts off simple, we only see one hint of Cortana's rampancy while aboard the Dawn and no one draws attention to it. Then when we crash, it happens again and Cortana blames the crash and we continue on through the campaign with a regular Halo story. Blood, guts, fighting through waves to free the Infinity from the gravity well and then when the gravity. At the same time, we slowly develop that something is wrong with Cortana and then she bursts on the bridge like she does in the game. And that's when we have the tone shift. That's when Chief starts to open up more. That's when we turn into a deeper story between Chief and Cortana.
I love that at the beginning of "The Package" you can feel Noble Team's exhaustion after suffering loss after loss, but by the end of it you feel a sliver of hope.
Man i love watching people play this game for the first time. their reactions to all of Noble's deaths and just the story of reach is always a highlight for me, ive been fortunate enough to bring three friends who have never played halo to the series and i love to just watch them react. i love that you kept your closing thoughts in and hearing you break it all down was cool! excited to see what you do next!
It's cool and nostalgic to see someone play halo for the first time. Halo 2 is my fave, but if I had to choose, I'd watch reach for the first time again; ok maybe the entire series lol
I imagine Jun hung up his helmet and lived out the rest of his days on Reach as a hermit feeling that his mission was complete, maybe also went into seclusion upon finding out that his entire team was dead.
Captain Keys was such a legendary character. Regardless of his relatively short story in the Halo games, Lord Hood himself singled out his purpose in the war as extraordinary, and considered him one of the best. Halsey said the delivering of Cortana was to be the highest priority for humanity - she was that important. And Keys understood and appreciated all the sacrifices it took for that mission to succeed. Trust me, Noble 6 was not forgotten.
After you finished halo 4, you should listen to halo: hunt the truth, it is an audio drama about a journalist called Benjamin giraud, who uncovers the truth about the Spartan program and tries to make it public
I just played this today and I was playing we’ll meet again because It was on my playlist but, I didn’t know this was the mission that everyone dies. I cried
And another fun but sad fact, the lone wolf mission lasts forever until your health drops low enough, but canonically, Noble Six stays fighting the covenant for three whole days, non-stop before they eventually get killed.
Fun fact the elites at the gun who killed emile are the same ones who killed kat and the ones who attacked you at the end of the first mission they where hunting noble from the beginning and 6 got revenge for kat and emile
Every once in awhile i go back to watch the teaser trailer for Reach. The final line hits harder after the game. "This is Sierra Two-Five-Nine. You've got Spartans on the ground, sir. We're not going anywhere."
Hearing those piano notes at 34:30 brought water to my eyes. I hate that Halo is in shambles right now. We deserved so much better. I miss you Halo, my brothers and I had such great times together because of you. Maybe some time we’ll re-install Infinite.
This is the game that keeps ending. There's a final (full) level, an epilogue which originally had credits, a playable coda, and a stinger at the very, very end which shows us that Reach will live again one day thanks to Noble Six and Noble Team.
The death of Noble team hits harder as the game gets older. Six’s death ended up symbolizing the death of Halo as a whole and thus for a lot of us, a pretty significant portion of our lives at the time
The credits in the original would have played on the scene of the Pillar of Autumn facing the halo with Lone Wolf being an after credits bonus. Also Jun didn't die in the story, he technically survived.
DUDDDDEEEEE, this was the first game i ever beat, 14 years ago to be exact, i remember beating this game as the first in the family too! because i was too young to attend first grade i had alot more extra time (family of 7 older brothers) istg i believe this game changed my entire outlook of life beating it at 6 years old lol, i ended up beating MW2, and man oh man from this story of getting a halo sword impaled in you and then MW2 throwing a knife in your former commanders eye, this shaped my childhood LOL. anyways i never felt more connection with my childhood while watching this game play.
The Chiefs luck is a gamechanger for example, if Jorge was luckier the timer wouldn't have been fried, the thruster would be intact on the pelican, the door to the fighters wouldn't be blocked, etc. The rest could be said for the others who died in this, if they were luckier they'd be alive right now.
yeah, if Chief took Noble 6's place and did the exact same thing throughout the whole game, Emile would somehow survive long enough for Chief to get on the Pillar of Autumn.
27:05 That weapon you grabbed is a grenade launcher, if you hold the trigger down, it will keep it from exploding, it allows you to detonate it after you release the trigger, which is useful when the enemy gets close enough to the grenade on the ground.
From what I understand about Chief and his luck, it really is just that. He has better luck than anyone else. He's a great soldier, but doesn't really excel at any one particular thing. There are other Spartans who are better than him at various things, but he's well rounded, capable, and the only thing that sets him apart from others is his luck. And it's not a knock on him either, cause luck IS important and often than not an overlooked aspect of war. Just listen to all the WWII vets talk and they all say they're lucky.

I'm sure she didn't mean to forget about them, as Reach is a big game to take in after a first playthrough, but I do wish Meg had watched the Bungie credits and put them into the video. It's the only way to ensure the people who worked on those beautiful games get the credit they deserve
The pinkish and blue elites you kill on your way up to the big gun are the elites that are responsible for Cat's death, same ones you encounter in the very beginning where they almost stab you in first person. Avenged Kat's death!

(which btw, i think when put in that context makes Halsey's last speech sadder, "too bad you never lived to see it" back then felt like bungie telling us they are leaving forever and halos journey is over, as we know now though 343 picked it up)
343 was founded in 2007 to take over Halo after Bungie completed their 5th game.
For me it did end with reach i played 4 but it was never nearly as good as any other halo game

I remember my little brother telling me he wanted to play halo reach I introduced him to the series and he has overall enjoyed it
When he got to halo reach he felt so saddened by the ending he put his face down I asked if he was okay
He said yes but I knew he was saddened at what happened so I went downstairs made my bother some fries and chicken nuggets dad comes in and asked you making yourself some lunch
I said no it’s for my brother he just played one of the best/sad/hopeful halo story’s ever and after it was all done I went and took his food upstairs to my room(he was hanging out) and I told him eat up Spartan you did good 👍🙂

The likely reason 343i took out the credits to Reach is because it names a lot of people that don't work in 343 anymore. It would probably be a legal issue thing with Bungie if they didn't.

There was only one ship. They called it 'The Pillar of Autumn'. It fled as we set fire to their planet. I followed with all the ships in my command.
I've loved reach's ending cause the death is more impactful due to it being your character you made. It hurts more to lose something you've made. Also you notice Keys reaction to noble staying behind hurts him
Everything comes full circle. Like the Halo Ring. Noble Team only passed on the fight for Master Chief to finish.
1:46:11 exactly how i felt when i first played Reach on the 360 back in the day but as i replayed it i realized that the game was a story not about Surviving but about holding the Covenant off at the Bastion of Humanity, because that's what Reach was: a Fortress for humanity because if Reach Fell The UNSC knew Earth was next that's also why Halsey had Cortana decrypting the data from the Artifact beneath S.W.O.R.D. base to find a solution to The Covenant's onslaught against Humanity( too bad we found something worse than the covenant in the process)
Fun fact, Master Chief was taking part in the fighting in Reach, and that's when he first met Cortana too, but then he was placed into cryo-sleep and sent into the Pillar of Autumn, this happens right before you receive Cortana in the game. You can also see Master Chief in the cryo pod on the Legendary difficulty ending.
But why? I'm sure with Cheif and Noble 6 they could have easily defeated the covenant, even with some backup from the Marines
@@thrilltokill5409 If it was that easy the war wouldn't have lasted 30 years. In the grand scheme theres not much 2 Spartans can do against billions of Covenant soldiers and hundreds of ships. What typically happens is Spartans do what they can to stall the Covenant so civilians can be evacuated then they get picked up before they are stranded and overwhelmed.

This popped up in my feed out of the blue, and I'm pretty glad. I usually check out videos where people react to the character deaths and story beats. But I have to say, I really appreciate the perspective you bring to the table as someone who has read the Fall of Reach book.

So it’s ironic how each one went out. Jorge went out in space above the planet he said he’d never leave and by a bomb as he’s the heavy. Kat went out by a faulty shield and she’s the one that’s tech savvy. Carter as the leader went down with the ship quite literally. Emile went out by a sword and he has an obsession with blades. And Noble 6 went out all alone. As the lone wolf.
All the halo games get so much more tragic and dark the more lore you know, playing as a kid I did not know the spartan 3s are all artificially adulted so most are literally 13-16 children in grown bodies fighting a war

@@dixon137 It's very interesting to see that after enough time has passed, Halo fans are able to relax a bit, take a more fair and objective look at Halo 4, and realize that the story and characters are not as bad as everyone made it out to be when it first launched.
Is it the best Halo story wise, no. But it dives into some interesting stuff and goes deeper into characters that we never got before.

@@lilfuzzballa I... recognize the deeper dive that Halo 4 took, however, I feel it was very poorly paced. I feel like they should have done things in a slower pace. The game starts off simple, we only see one hint of Cortana's rampancy while aboard the Dawn and no one draws attention to it. Then when we crash, it happens again and Cortana blames the crash and we continue on through the campaign with a regular Halo story. Blood, guts, fighting through waves to free the Infinity from the gravity well and then when the gravity. At the same time, we slowly develop that something is wrong with Cortana and then she bursts on the bridge like she does in the game. And that's when we have the tone shift. That's when Chief starts to open up more. That's when we turn into a deeper story between Chief and Cortana.

I love that at the beginning of "The Package" you can feel Noble Team's exhaustion after suffering loss after loss, but by the end of it you feel a sliver of hope.
Man i love watching people play this game for the first time. their reactions to all of Noble's deaths and just the story of reach is always a highlight for me, ive been fortunate enough to bring three friends who have never played halo to the series and i love to just watch them react. i love that you kept your closing thoughts in and hearing you break it all down was cool! excited to see what you do next!

Captain Keys was such a legendary character. Regardless of his relatively short story in the Halo games, Lord Hood himself singled out his purpose in the war as extraordinary, and considered him one of the best. Halsey said the delivering of Cortana was to be the highest priority for humanity - she was that important. And Keys understood and appreciated all the sacrifices it took for that mission to succeed. Trust me, Noble 6 was not forgotten.
After you finished halo 4, you should listen to halo: hunt the truth, it is an audio drama about a journalist called Benjamin giraud, who uncovers the truth about the Spartan program and tries to make it public
I just played this today and I was playing we’ll meet again because It was on my playlist but, I didn’t know this was the mission that everyone dies. I cried
she felt the same pain we all still have, some have gotten over it, but a few still cant forget it
And another fun but sad fact, the lone wolf mission lasts forever until your health drops low enough, but canonically, Noble Six stays fighting the covenant for three whole days, non-stop before they eventually get killed.
I hate that there’s no credits. After something like that I like to just sit through the credits and stare at the screen in contemplation
Fun fact the elites at the gun who killed emile are the same ones who killed kat and the ones who attacked you at the end of the first mission they where hunting noble from the beginning and 6 got revenge for kat and emile

Hearing those piano notes at 34:30 brought water to my eyes. I hate that Halo is in shambles right now. We deserved so much better. I miss you Halo, my brothers and I had such great times together because of you. Maybe some time we’ll re-install Infinite.

This is the game that keeps ending. There's a final (full) level, an epilogue which originally had credits, a playable coda, and a stinger at the very, very end which shows us that Reach will live again one day thanks to Noble Six and Noble Team.

The death of Noble team hits harder as the game gets older. Six’s death ended up symbolizing the death of Halo as a whole and thus for a lot of us, a pretty significant portion of our lives at the time
The credits in the original would have played on the scene of the Pillar of Autumn facing the halo with Lone Wolf being an after credits bonus. Also Jun didn't die in the story, he technically survived.

DUDDDDEEEEE, this was the first game i ever beat, 14 years ago to be exact, i remember beating this game as the first in the family too! because i was too young to attend first grade i had alot more extra time (family of 7 older brothers) istg i believe this game changed my entire outlook of life beating it at 6 years old lol, i ended up beating MW2, and man oh man from this story of getting a halo sword impaled in you and then MW2 throwing a knife in your former commanders eye, this shaped my childhood LOL. anyways i never felt more connection with my childhood while watching this game play.

1:40:00 I honestly didint know keys cared about the Spartans since I never read the book. Thats makes me feel even worse about his death.
The Chiefs luck is a gamechanger for example, if Jorge was luckier the timer wouldn't have been fried, the thruster would be intact on the pelican, the door to the fighters wouldn't be blocked, etc.
The rest could be said for the others who died in this, if they were luckier they'd be alive right now.
yeah, if Chief took Noble 6's place and did the exact same thing throughout the whole game, Emile would somehow survive long enough for Chief to get on the Pillar of Autumn.
27:05 That weapon you grabbed is a grenade launcher, if you hold the trigger down, it will keep it from exploding, it allows you to detonate it after you release the trigger, which is useful when the enemy gets close enough to the grenade on the ground.
From what I understand about Chief and his luck, it really is just that. He has better luck than anyone else. He's a great soldier, but doesn't really excel at any one particular thing. There are other Spartans who are better than him at various things, but he's well rounded, capable, and the only thing that sets him apart from others is his luck. And it's not a knock on him either, cause luck IS important and often than not an overlooked aspect of war. Just listen to all the WWII vets talk and they all say they're lucky.
What a beautiful game. Thank you for helping me to see it again with fresh eyes. I'm not crying...
