    I'm 59 years old I've been doing this treatment for about 8 years now and when I tell people that I will be turning 60 soon they do not believe me and want to see my driver's license.. When I go in town with my granddaughter, people think that she's my daughter and shes only 10 .. I've never had Botox or any plastic surgery this stuff is amazing, I do prefer the 40% though

    BTW, my favorite Kate Somerville product is the RetAsphere Micro Peel, it has retinol and glycolic acid. I put it on overnight & really get good results. When I regularly use it, my husband and friends notice.

    I am so happy I am not the only one with a crazy-BAD result from Botox!! I had it for the first time at 54 & looked like I was frowning for a couple of months!! Yikes!! I have really bad 11’s partly from genetics & partly from chronic pain! My wrinkles at almost 57 now are not that bad. I’ve always been crazy about skincare. While in nursing school I worked in a high end department store & fell in love with really good skincare! My favorite is Kate Somerville. I get really good results from her products & always get products when she has her 30% off to keep my cost lower.
    I’m so glad I saw this video, I have a 30% glycolic solution & will be using it with my daughter tomorrow! I have 2 daughters & have loved sharing skincare with them. Lol!! But I insist on SPF! I have heard fillers may help my 11’s, I’m interested in trying that!

    Girl, you are adorable!! And I love your honesty!! I wish that I’d realized at your age that I needed to head off my wrinkles at the pass!! I took so many things for granted! And now at 60 I’m paying for it! I’ve only just begun my skin care recovery regimen and am really enjoying your videos! I’ve been using a 7% Glycolic Acid toner from the Ordinary, every other night and LOVE the results in the morning. It doesn’t need to be neutralized and I can leave it on all night! I put it on a clean dry face, let it tingle a bit, then apply my serums and moisturizer. My face feels like a little slice of heaven in the morning. Now if I could just tackle the deep lines and wrinkles - I’m working on it, hopefully not too late! And I appreciate your tip about the Botox! I’m scheduled to get Botox in my forehead next month but now I’m afraid I’ll end up with Frankenstein eyes, too!! I think I’ll cancel my appt.! Thanks for the time you invest in sharing these videos! I really do appreciate it!!

      Hi Karolyn! 😊 First of all, I LOVE the Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner....love it!! But since I've been using this, I just don't feel the need to use a glycolic toner daily. About the botox...everyone is different. The only reason I tried for a second time is because I saw how pretty it made other women look. But my eyes are naturally very hooded, so it made them look even that much more hooded, which I did not like. However, I DO get botox once a year (right before summer) right between my eyebrows and in my crows feet and I love it! I make sure my doctor does not fan out my botox out (away from the center) between my eyebrows because in the past when he's done that it makes me look creepy, like an evil clown. So I ask him to keep it very central. This is going to sound weird, but my goal is not so much to relax my 11's. It's more to prevent the very top of my nose from thinning out when I make certain expressions. I know that sounds odd, but that's what concerns me the most. Anyway, I think you might love botox, but only if it's placed exactly where you want it. Let me know if you get it done! And thank you so much for taking the time to leave your comment! ❤️

    I used to tan also and I’m definitely paying the price now although it’s not too bad on my face. I’ve been doing really excellent skincare for many years now and I’m super excited to do the 50% glycolic acid peel that I just got. My eyes are hooded and they’ve actually gotten better from the products I use, namely tretinoin (even on my upper eyelids) ,peptides, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, etc.

    Water naturally neurtalizes it, also when washed with water it dilutes down to about 10% which is a leave on percentage and is safe. You can use it up to 10 minutes as you build tolerance. GEL LIKE are stabilized formulas and 30% is equal to only about 20%, Also the way you are applying it I do not recommend, buy a fan style synthetic brush and paint it lightly on skin, you will get a thicker application and a much better result, next NO do not put near lips, you want fresh skin there use a sugar scrub. You look very good keep it up

    Hi Jenifer! I love your videos. Interesting that you were also a sun worshiper. I was too but I’m late to using retinol and other active ingredients. I didn’t start really getting into using them until a year ago, at 56. I see a big difference in my skin, but can’t help to think what if?

    Your skin looks radiant and smooth. It is not showing any sun damage at all. Although, I love to tan, and tan easily with my skin, at age 27, I could tell that it could be aging for the skin. I stopped getting my face tanned and started using bronzers. I also saw older women on my street that tanned often and saw that they were getting deepish lines in their late 30's. I ordered the glycolic acid to try. I am unable to use even the lowest dose of Retin-A, so I hope that this can help with increased skin turn-over. I also sometimes get a chemical peel and a hydra-facial at the dermatologist's office. Thanks for all the information!

    Jenifer, thanks for sharing this video with everyone. Face peels have worked wonders on my skin, especially glycolic. The only thing that was surprising what that you are told to neutralize it. But, I understand it in a way because it is better to be safe than sorry. The glycolic peels I've done (I do 70% occasionally, sometime monthly - which sounds crazy high) don't state to neutralize it with baking soda (just water) - but I use a mild natural soap called Kirk's coconut castile soap. So, I've been doing it that way for 5 years! But, if I were to do a TCA peel, I would definitely need the baking soda/water neutralizer. I think some people may react strongly to peels if they are new and starting out at 30% (some people are totally fine though) but others may have skin reactions where they want to neutralize it right away to avoid a deeper peel. So, that makes sense. Thank you also for sharing this peel recommendation because I was recommending a different company to others (which I love) but I just noticed the company I've been using sells their 30% with parabens in it - which is not good. So, thank you! Your skin looks so beautiful!

    Your video was great! Did a glycolic peel tonight. First in about a year. My skin is very angry right now. You reminded me to feed the skin in it's fresh state, so I added more hylauronic acid and moisturized very well. I use to work in a spa and started using peels and micros at 26yo. • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  5 років тому +12

      I've been using glycolic acids for so long, in so many different concentrations, so I kind of knew what my skin could tolerate. However, if you are new to glycolics, I would start with a lower concentration and work my way up. Paula's Choice makes a 10% concentration that I've enjoyed in the past. Also, the Ordinary makes a 7% that's good as well. ❤

    Hi! I’m on a journey with my mom she hasn’t been diagnosed but I’m sure she has melasma but in time we will get her diagnosed we just can’t rn because of the pandemic but just to get her started with any type of skincare just because she is so old school and has never has an established skin routine and has not used AHA or vitamin c practically nothing. So I have done so much research and have came up with this routine from the ordinary. Products like their glycolic acid, alpha Arbutin+HA, retinol 0.5 % + Squalane and of course a sunscreen which I want her to use a physical one just because i know they are better when it comes to protecting against UVA rays. How do these products seem for hyperpigmentation and melasma and if there’s something you can add to this suggest plz do !

    Oh thats what its for lol. I have a very low percentage one i was gifted with a purchase. Just that and i wash it off. I only use now and again. Feels so good. sometimes it stings!! Looking good. I only ever used Estel Lauder night serum, and a Clinique Moisturiser. Plus my nans famous Nivea. Only now @ 55 am i starting to worry. Genetics i guess. But i am told over and over i don't look my age. I had a makeover at a high street store. My Son picked me up. The girl said, i didnt check your age on the form (comforting..not) Yea im 40 lol. I am using lots of good skin care now, thanks to people like yourself. UK and i watch for the most part American ladies . Your streets ahead Bella being the exception. And Sugar Puff & Stuff. LesleyAnne does a bit of everything lol. xxx💗💖💝🐾🐾

    Thanks for sharing, I’m going to try this glycolic acid. I am a serum junkie but I need to up my skin care game a little. I’m 54 and have never tried anything like Botox or even retinol for that matter but I think I’m going to start with the glycolic acid and retinol. I’m obsessed with skin care and love serums and even mix my own. I love my skin and think it looks pretty dang good for my age. I have used the Clinique dramatically different moisturizer since the age of 25 and never anything else and my neck and chest look like they haven’t aged a day. My daughter is 16 and she now uses it. P.S. - I love your background pictures, beautiful!

    I use my retin a cream 3 times a week and a 1.5% hyaluronic acid drops nightly....Im 52 to and was also a sun worshiper. I really believe the retin a works wonders!! I will have to try the glycolic acid next. Whats the difference between hyaluronic and glycolic acids??

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  5 років тому +1

      Hyaluronic acid is supposed to draw moisture to the surface of the skin to moisturize it. Glycolic acid exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells. But there are way more benefits to glycolic acid than that. It's exceptional for skincare!

    Your skin looks great! I agree with you...exfoliation is so important (especially for us ex-sun worshipers) Ha! I worked in a tanning salon through college as well and would tan for an hour after the shop closed. Ugh! I so wish we had the info back then that we do now about sun damage! Clearly you are doing something right because your skin really looks so good. xoxo

      Lol! What were we thinking?!! 😮 But honestly, we had very little guidance back then. Very few people were aware of the dangers. Aside from my grandparents and random doctors, no one ever expressed the importance of sun protection to my sisters and I. My daughter WILL DEFINITELY be aware! I'm sure Kelsey's aware too! ❤️

    What do you follow up with in terms of skincare after such procedure? I assume you can't have your vitamin C or Niacin after that - same evening, for example.... and if I am 36 is this peel too strong for me or should I not do it weekly, but by weekly or monthly instead? Is there a starting age for this procedure?

I also tried it 3x bc everyone said it was the injector. Nope just the way it settled I guess. I wish mine looked as good as yours does now. We are the same age and your skin looks amazing. Girl, I feel your pain! I see other ladies with their smooth foreheads and I get so jelly! 😉 But a smooth forehead is not worth extra hooded eyes to me. But that's okay, this glycolic acid works fantastic! And if you use Retin-A in addition to it, you will definitely see a difference! Also, like I mentioned, the skin on my forehead is WAY tougher than the skin on the rest of my face. Yours might be too. So don't be afraid to experiment with it. I do WAY more to my forehead than I do to other parts of my face. It's just less sensitive, kind of like my chest, so it can tolerate more. 😘
