People love to hate the 2.7T but our 2019 Silverado 2.7 just turned 60k miles with no problems. It's pulled a 26ft camper cross country from Ohio to Utah, up and over the Eisenhower Pass in Colorado. It then pulled that same camper from Utah to Oregon through the mountains of Nevada. It pulled a loaded P38 Range Rover on a dolly and a bed full of tools and a set of 5 wheels and tires Cross Country once again with no issues. It's also hauled a skid steer and trailer. It's been cross country 6 times; to Wall Drug, Mt. Rushmore, independence Rock, all over Las Vegas, and through downtown Los Angeles, through Nevada, to Area 51. It's been through the deserts, and climbed mountain passes. All around Portland, and up to Mt. Saint Helen's. We've explored unimaginable places. Our Silverado is a part of the family. ❤
How could that ever be possible. In 2014 my 2012 GM Chevrolet 1500 long bed couldn't get 50,000 miles before the transmission and engine warning indicator couldn't work together and traveled as fast as a funeral procession the warranty was about to expire and the dealership extorted $200.00 from me because they claim that the voltage was low. I guess The Dealership Service Dept. had a specific #1 rule Never Ever under any circumstances use a battery charger to recharge a GM product, that ruins the service Mark-up opportunity. So they told me, blah, blah, blah, give us $200.00 dollars or we will call a couple goons from Detroit and Shreveport to come here and break your legs and take your money regardless of how ever unethical it seems to be and you will be in the hospital for twenty years on a life support machine which by the way was made by GM and you have to pay for that too buddy lol. So they showed me the pinion gears shredded that came from a different GM product and claimed that it came from my truck and that since I couldn't prove that it wasn't because they wouldn't allow me to visually watch them remove the Pinion gears because of some BS that vehicle owners couldn't be in the service area due to their liability policy which was more BS. They still billed me for their work at $7896.52 and told me that they contacted their main headquarters in Detroit and falsely informed them my warranty had expired. Now someone tell me if that was fair. Should I contact a lawyer? If so what kind of lawyer? Should I report them to the BBB, Federal Trade Commission? How about Morgan & Morgan law firm? Could they help?
How heavy was the camper you pulled
@@brianjohnston3963 6000lbs, maybe a little more.
OK the reason why I'm asking because I have a camper that is 6800 pounds and my 2018 4×4 5.3 Silverado pulls it really good but I don't know about going into the mountains it's a 1500
That is awesome good to hear I took my 2021 Silverado with the same engine but 348 lb ft of torque up to Maine, Then Niagara Falls NY, then crossed into Canada then into Brampton, Ontario, Back into the US thru Niagara Falls then finally back down to Baltimore and it was solid the whole time I absolutely love mine
I own a 2021 Silverado 2.7L, and I love it. Gets great gas mileage, has all the power I need.
My 2020 just hit 102,000 miles. Tight work.
I have a 2022 Silverado with the 2.7, I traded an F-150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost for this Chevy and the Chevy blows the Ford out of the water. I’ve had 5.3 Chevys, 2 Ford 2.7’s, and a Ram Cummins and this Chevy 2.7 acts much more like the Cummins than a gas engine. I drive mine 80 miles a day back and forth to work and it routinely gets 21-22 mpg. It’s the best truck I’ve had and I love it. Great job General Motors!
I've got the 2022 Silverado 2.7 turbo, and I am very happy with it, it really is a powerhouse.
Hello. I just bought this truck (LT 2FL Turbomax, 4x4, 7,000lbs) about 3 weeks ago, this car is beautiful, good, strong engine. I want to buy an RV but I don't know if this vehicle can tow an RV or not? If so, what is the maximum weight of an RV? Thanks.
@sanhly2690 max weight is around 9000 lbs. I have a 2021 2.7 and I towed a 20 ft flat bed with a suburban.. around 8,000 lbs.. for about 8 hours with 0 issues. I'd stay around 6 to 7000 lbs. Don't want to push maximum all the time
I own and run a construction company. My f350 7.3 went down so I bought a 2022 Silverado 2.7 l. I’m honestly impressed only downside is I wish I got a higher trim. So I’ll be trading it in for another. But the 2.7 is a power house. If it wasn’t for the sound, you would never know it was a four-cylinder driving this truck.
I just bought a 22' 2.7 LT 4 wd. To me the difference is with my 19' 5.3 you heard exhaust noise out the rear. Now you hear the turbo noise from the front! Opposite extremes.
To me, the sound is everything… 5.3 or 6.2 only.. N/A
@@Oneshawdog89 good to know
@@garymeredith3610 Gary you’re more than welcome! 🤣
@@Oneshawdog89 understandable, I don’t think there is a engine that sounds as good as a 7.3 but because I have one it’s kinda nice having a quiet truck too. Having to shut my f350 off whenever I go through a drive through so they can hear the order gets old lol
I own the same truck featured in this video. Over 19,000+ miles it has averaged 23.9 mpg- some of the time towing a boat and a travel trailer. The 2.7 turbo engine is indeed incredible.
I put slightly bigger tires and im getting only 15.
this video showed a flat track, I have mountains all around me, how's the pulling with inclines? mountain passes?
Pulled from Richmond to Staunton, Virginia, with no issues.
@@michaelgoodrich-stuart thnx
I’m only getting 13mpg…. Everything is stock!!! This engine is a joke and at 15,000 miles I’m trying to trade this POS
I bought the custom trail boss with the 2.7 in the summer no complaints the engine has been more than enough for me.
What you don't get in this motor is the Diesel MPG. It will feel great because turbo motors are fun. Problem is this motor will always be on boost with the lightest of trailers and the gas mileage will crater. 3.0l Duramax is where it is at if you need it to work. The 2.7l will be fun if you want a light truck to play with.
And...what you don't get is the diesel premium to the cost of the truck. I love a diesel but FEW ppl need that power, and for a $5-10k+ premium to the cost of the truck, well, that's a LOT of gas.
@Doc Holliday I'll take the up front penalty to have the better driving experience. I'd take the 2.7 over the V8 options, but not the 3.0D. You'll make up for it in gas cost quickly with the slightest work use of the truck. If you just need to own a truck to be part of the brodozer crowd then the 2.7 will be a great DD.
Ummm the 3.0 Duramax is only $800 more.
GM, make the 2.7t available with front bucket seats! On the LT when you select the $600 front bucket seat option, it forces you to get the 3.0 duramax or the 5.3 v8 which ups the cost considerably.
You can get them In RST trim
@@thomasmcghee2468 had the RS trim on my 19'. My 22' LT, and I already miss the painted bumpers and other RST options.
Awesome job Kevin!
I have a 2022 Trailboss LT with the 2.7. I only have 1100 miles and just purchased it last month and I’m loving it thus far. I’m getting 18-20 city driving and my all time best to date on Hwy is 24.6. I own two other vehicles with v8s and I’ve seen too much low mileage lifter failures on the 5.3 so I wanted to give this 2.7 a try. No regrets or buyers remorse here!
@@Wontreplyeverdontbother Wait..the FUTURE? Whats your source? Either you've been calling Ms Cleo, youre a Chevy design engineer with inside info, or you're full of it.
Yeah not much better in mpg then v8 😂 and get prepared for it to be an oil burner because they do burn oil.
Just traded in my 2023 Tundra recall for this. I am thrilled the new Powertrain warranty is 5/100000!
6:03 I love my 2022 Silverado 2.7. I almost got in an accident passing a semi going up a long hill because when I hit the gas to pass him, my truck accelerated so quickly I almost hit the back of him. That’s when I learned that wow this truck really gets up and moves!
Your driving too close. Tailgater. Try Skip Barber driving school.
What type fuel does the 2.7 use?
Regular unleaded.
GM, you need to be realistic with your reliability reputation for small displacement turbo's, it's not good. If you truly wanted to build consumer confidence and trust have a 10y-100,000m power train warranty.
What other big 3 competitor does that? 🤔 Oh yea.....none of them.
My dealer here in Missouri offers that warranty 10 yr 100,000 mile I have a 2022 Silverado double cab custom, Love it
@@DeetroitmuscleWell the Ecoboost Turboed V6 is junk and Ford knows it so why would they increase their warranty,
I'm diehard Chevy and would never opt for a little POS 4cyl nor V6 in a full size truck, GM pushes it like they do in this video as its cheaper to manufacture

Instead of the traditional turbo design with one scroll that still need an specific exhaust manifold. Let’s call it Quad scroll engine intergrated Turboooo
I don’t know. Guess a test drive would be on order. I love my 6.2l! And I still get 18 on normal back and forth to work driving with impressive 22 on highway, consistently! 2019 1500 High Country. Advertising 420 hp and I think 400 on torque. And you can feel every bit of it!
Lifted 2.7 trail boss on 35s here and it's a beast
Great truck and motor combination surprisingly impressive.
Have a 2019 Silverado RST with the 2.7. I was skeptical at first but it didn't take long to become a believer. Very quick and fun to drive. Great mileage, quiet and a nicely appointed interior. Can't wait for a new one
I have a 2022 with the 2.7 HO. Fantastic little powertrain and this is coming from a history of a Colorado Diesel, two 5.3 1/2 tons and three 6.0 HD trucks. Its every ounce as fast as my 2018 5.3 I had before, and the torque and powerband to about 4000rpm hits like the 2.8 Duramax. That torque chart is proof right there of what this engine can do. 400+torque from 2000-3500rpm. Only engine I would find better? The 3.0 Duramax.
should have made a v6 like the new rangers raptor engine with around 300Kw at the flywheel ? Even better do it up better turbo intercooler and exhaust system and a good tune, should get around the 350 to 400hp range and real good low down power as well, its only a matter of time?
@@7071t6 Nah. If anything should be made its a 6 cylinder version of this engine so an inline 6. Would be good for 430+hp and 600+tq in theory. Hard to beat the smoothness an inline offers.
@@killercan10 lots of OEMs have been developing modular architectures for their engines. Is it a coincidence that this 4 cylinder has a bore and stroke that would lend itself to a near perfect 4.0 liter displacement inline 6?
Try a real Duramax. You won’t want to go back after experiencing the 6.6
@@Motolympics Big deal. Driven plenty of LML and L5Ps at work. 8000lbs can only move so fast, plus I don't have any trailers of weight to merit the purchase of a 65-75k truck. 2.8 was and the 3.0 that's in the 1/2 tons currently are great engines. The 3.0 Duramax is the real winner here over the big 6.6.
Nice to know there are 2 optional 3.5 ecoboost engines with 470 and 500 ft lb torque respectively.
I'm curious why no auxiliary coolers with the 2.7?
I'm also curious why the 8L90 instead of the 10LXX?
You should have lined up the Dodge and Ford with base engines and had a trailer pulling drag race.
Hemi guy here and I am not excited about a Stellantis engineered twin turbo six. I have read a lot about this engine and it sounds so good. I love the sound of a V8 but this engine has really caught my attention.
Man i thought chevy trucks hit their low, and I'm not talking about the bumper dragging on the ground, when my 01 1500 with the 5.3 struggled to haul a 6×10 enclosed trailer. That engineer is so proud of his baby turbo engine. I have been a chevy guy all my life. Unfortunately I had to buy an f250 super duty to haul with.
Your upset about an 23 year old truck that can't tow the trailer. That a 1500. The 5.3 is a good motor that can handle a lot. The 2.7t is also a great motor it was built to be able to get good gas mileage and still be able to tow what you need that a 1500 is able to tow I bet you anything the 6.6 gas motor out of a 2500 silverado can out pull your f250 any day of the week. I'm disappointed that you went to a ford but. But ohh well.
I own my 2.7L 2021 Silverado… and its work great well
My 23 Canyon is a beast! Pulls my bass boat thru Kentucky like it's not there!
Very impressive!
I have a 23 crew cab with the 2.7 and highway I get about 15 mpg also the truck in the video is a V8. I was told mine would tow 9000lbs and I'm not saying it can't do it but I will say it can't be happy doing it. It would benefit from a 10 speed. So far I regret getting it coming from my 17 with 5.3 but I needed the bigger cab and that I did.
Beautiful vehicle lots of power. Looking to purchase one.
You won’t be disappointed
Do the same test run on a road with hills. That test run was basically ALL flat road.
Shannon looks good in that jumpsuit.
I've seen high mileage 2.7s with tons of towing miles on them. No issues just regular maintenance. Just from what I've seen.....
Take it from a GM Family owner that’s had Chevrolets in the driveway since the early 50’s this is the Best damn little motor ever it should be called the Mighty Mouse I’ve owned them all 305/350/454 carburetor,TBi,Vortec/ LS 5.3/6.0. These turbo-4cyl are everywhere. Are they built to last with the high-pressures? How can they last as long as a natural-aspirated V8?
They won't I think GM is purposley building cheap unreliable cars to push EVs on the masses when they all fail. Nothing makes sense over there anymore and I am a hardcore GM fan and a long dating history GM family (workers and buyers). And sadly most of us will be looking elsewhere after our current cars.
fords new 3lt v6 turbo has around 300kw and 585 nm of torque, so chevy should have there version of a 3lt v6 with twin turbo's putting out at least 350kw at the flywheel and around 650nm of torque, but hey chevy and ford are always at each other its about saving fuel, i have seen so many F150 raptors and chevy Silverado's at lights and they just floor it to the floor ,so where is the fuel saving when they drag at lights all the time?
@@LeatherandLuxuryCarsd That makes no sense, destroy your reputation by purposely making unreliable vehicles so that you can push EVs onto them? Who in their right mind would buy a vehicle from them?
@@LeatherandLuxuryCarsd you should look up the million mile test. This is one of the few engines made by GM that they haven’t managed to break yet. I personally know one that has about 78,000 miles on it and that’s not even the refresh version.
@@devildrifterX that’s definitely not what they’re doing. The negative around this engine has no facts behind it. It’s just a lot of guys they can’t handle the idea of a truck. it would be good that chevy gm have a talk with plow businesses to allow plow installs on 2.7l silverados ..
Hello! If possible, please post more videos of the GM, Silverado 2.7l, 4-cylinder truck pulling an RV trailer.
if you have 2 engines to choose from, what would you pick? 1) - 383 ft lbs of torque generated @ 4,100 rpm w/ a 9,000 lb tow rating? 2) - 430 ft lbs of torque generated @ 3,000 rpm w/ a 9,000 lb tow rating? Both run on 87 octane gasoline, per owners manual. The higher revving less torque choice is 5.3 V8. The Duramax diesel built forged crank 2.7 Turbomax w/ 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty is the one to pick.
This is awesome and I'm looking forward to trying this engine out in the new GMC Canyon, but my only question is why now? After everyone is starting to jump the electric bandwagon you all just now start offering higher powered and more efficient internal combustion engines. You could have done this like 10 years ago.
I test drove this vehicle and I was very impressed. The vehicle did not feel like a 4cyl and pulled hard. I have been considering buying this vehicle!
It’s worth it. I ripped on the 4 cyl at first and then i drove it😮
I love mine so far! Time will tell but I bought an extended warranty just in case.
Call me old school but there's no replacement for displacement. I currently have a 2020 silverado with a 6.2l and love it. You dont buy a truck to talk about gas mileage. I work on cars for a living and general motors 4 and 6 cylinder engines have been terrible for years. Anytime they try to force a bunch of power out of a tiny engine that leads to problems. Why do you think race car engines get rebuilt after every race.
Gm just announced they are investing almost a billion dollars in the next generation V-8s
That would be stupid. The 2.7 will surpass them.
So hopefully the Colorado Z71 will get 20-22 city and 27 highway ? Oh and zero to 60 in sub 6 seconds would be nice too :)
Can you imagine buying a full-size pickup with a 2 liter engine
I couldn't but did buy the 2.7. Coming from 5 - 5.3liters the last decades I was skeptical too. 6k on it haul a 32' RV so far so good.
B4 5.3 you heard exhaust noise from rear, now you hear turbo noise from front. Only difference I notice. Other than 25 mph on freeway.

Yep every morning first shift from 1 to 2 it’s brutal but after that doesn’t happen again until it sits over night.
Yeah, the transmission is my only complaint with the truck. If you don’t let it warm up for a good five minutes in the morning, you get a hard shift. But I’m used to diesels and I’m in the habit of warming my truck up before I drive. Long as I do that it shift perfectly fine.

My current work truck rarely sees the sunny side of 3k rpm. Don't need a high-revving turbo. My current truck is at 238k miles and still doing great. 2.7 is better
It sounds like you don't need the power. The 5.3L is only better when you rev it out past 4000rpm. The 5.3L makes 381lb of torque at 4100rpm. The L3B 2.7T does that at 2000rpm and peaks at 430lb at 3000rpm. The 2.7T is the low RPM power king.
Stick with the 5.3. Its tried and true engineering designed before chevy got bad. Other than obvious lifter issue, its is similar design. Dont be fooled, no little turbo 4 is going to last as long as a v8. It might have it slightly beat on power, but if you want power, get the 6.2. Just my opinion and im no expert. Id ask a mechanic what they think.
@@christopherclark4774 5.3 is blowing lifters like crazy and any GM mechanic I’ve talked to love the 2.7. It’s been the most reliable gas truck motor GM has at this time.
Proud 2.7HO owner (custom)
24 hwy / 18 city mpg with KO2 tires
Will last 200K miles? Who cares, got the 10 yrs warranty plus in 15-20yrs EV trucks will be on market with better technology and probably better price than gasoline.
Worry about today and not tomorrow. Today this 2.7HO is a beast
that 2.7 in the New Colorado ZR2 is gonna rip!!!
Except no EV is going to drive 800 miles in 12 hours because you have to stop for a long time to recharge the battery, if you can find a charging station, and if you do find one you'll pay more for the charge than for gasoline or diesel. Also those EV require heavy batteries which reduces the weight you can haul or tow unless the suspension is heavy enough to handle the loads and then ride quality suffers.
@pyromedichd1 20 yes is a long time Sir.
A 2000 F250 7.3 is doing the same specs as my 2022 Silverado 1500 2.7HO. Tow almost is identical with a substantial difference in mpg and handling.
2 decades and technologies had changed completely.
Evolution from a carburetor, injection, turbos and now EV is going to happen. In 20 yrs I bet my word is something better will be around, is progress buddy.
Can the custom crew cab 4x4 be 30k.
I have a 22 LTD is the motor the same as the 23 or did they mod it a bit?

Great job GM on 2.7 turbo HP . pull's good shifts like no other truck smooth no turbo lagging 2.7 liter turbo HP well be in the right direction and into the Future this engine well be One of GM motors game changer.
Is this the same motor in the 2023 Colorado ZR2?
Does this engine have any kind of features to combat carbon build up from the GDI injector system?
I'm sitting at 88k miles with no current carbon buildup issues. I *am* however, judicious with my use of the throttle, so this may have something to do with that.
I dunno, it's comforting driving my old L59 with 130,000 trouble free miles knowing that I still have maybe at least that no truck payment miles left in it.
I don’t have an doubts in its abilities I would be concerned with the reliability with all those additional moving parts.
If i could get a gm manufacturer 10yr warranty/100k miles id probably consider trading in to jump on that.
2023 2.7 liter custom trail boss at 10,400 trouble free miles.
Looking at a 2023 with the 2.7L but why no low range in this engine unless you get a custom Trailboss?
With the low end torque available and gear ratios in the trans I doubt you will miss it.

Because they want to make more money 💰💰.
I think this engine in a Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon would be very nice
No it’s not!! They are sitting on the lots at all dealers!!! In fact GM is so embarrassed that it now doesn’t even call it a 4cyl in commercials or on build sheet!!! Now just called turbo high output these trucks are only incentive or lower interest rates on lot!!
Dang i wish girls were this interested in cars.
Why can’t the fuel injectors last more than 15,000 miles???? I have had it in the shop 2 weeks. Came in with an engine light, told it was a fuel injector, then they got it back together, started it up and another injector went out…. Asked them to replace them all and dealership won’t… so how long until my other 2 injector goes out and I’m in the same boat?

I wonder how it feels in the Colorado/ Canyon
GM has discounts to unload the 2.7T so if its a four popper you want your in luck.
How in the hell is turbo directly hooked up to giving the motor this supposed boost, I'm not convinced yet
The RAM Trucks bed would snap or bend. And I like the RAM Trucks.
Put LT4s on the new Silverado’s god dammit
I had a 2008 Silverado 1500 which would not accommodate a Fisher 8 foot steel snowplow. It would only allow a pretend "homeowner" plow. I ended up getting rid of the truck for a 2012 Silverado 2500 with a 6 liter gas engine, so I could put a real snowplow on it. I am tired of 10 mpg (less when pushing a snowplow) and would like to go back to a 1500, but don't know if the new ones, despite the much ballyhooed engine, will accept a real snowplow. I guess that I should contact Fisher to see.

No 1500 is able to put a 8’ or better plow on it! Be realistic
The torque drops though at 3500rpm where the ecoboost looks like it still has some room to move up...
Okay that's where you would want the torque to be at not higher up in the rpm also it's a single turbo that's really good for a single turbo motor. The 2.7 eco boost v6 that's twin turbo could have more torque but it doesn't. The turbo max is better in that way. Kinda funny that our motor is better then the v6 eco boost that ford makes
My 2022 motor was fine but having transmission problems, anyone else experiencing any problems with theirs?
Folks think about longevity and you will reconsider buying a truck with a 4 cylinder engine that pretty much relies on a turbo for power.
Just like a diesel does
@@EnjoyingGaming diesel engines are different concept all together.
@@mattandrickadventures8416 yes they use compression instead of spark but they are still piston rod engines just like gas, if you build it strong enough any engine can have longevity while being boosted and so far these 2.7L have proven to be pretty strong while all the 5.3s are getting rebuilt at 60k due to bad lifters
This hurts my heart. The lack of ‘Merica in this full size truck is just sad.
You have 3 other engine options.
I love it, let me react to this?
Just picked up a 2023 with a 2.7. Torque comes on much earlier in the RPM range than the V8's. I'm coming from a Ram with a 5.7 and it had good power up top but the 2.7 feels much better in town driving and off the line it has instant power and torque.
All they need to do is redesign the Australian FORD Barra 6 inline engine and made it stronger with new materials and put that in the heavy duty Silverado's ( which chevy should have done, a inline six with a good turbo with all the good internals would have been so much better, which even with a small tubo you have at least around 350KW and around the 600nm of torque, what the hell is chevy doing other than thinking that farmers and silverado buyers are going to buy it because it will save fuel, when in fact they will use more fuel than if it was a v8?
Thank you Don't realy care for an electroic water pump and a plastic oil plug need to ask why. . Love ! Love !! Love !!! my 2.8 Duramax def issues are none after reprograming. Stay with a Duramax untill I die.
Then a 6.2 pulls up next to you 🥴🥲
Put it in the Colorado!
Bring back the 2 door Chevy cobalt.
