How very sad, thank you for the film, there is nothing like period drama
I love movies like this. The clothes simply fascinate me. Plots are always one of a kind. More period movies, please.

Nina Ethiopia Me too. It is called Sabela in amharic. I read it maybe 50 times. I bought the original book in English from Amazon. It’s a sad story. I cry every single time I read the book or watch the movie. The best 👌🏾
Wonderful that so e people take the time to upload filmsfree for our enjoyment.
Out of the good ess if my own heart, I humbly thank you all for SHARING THIS WONDERFUL Movie!!
This period drama is such an interesting film with good acting and lovely costuming, but, above all, real human emotions and feelings which showcase the heroism of some individuals against the backdrop of the selfishness and insensitivity of others. This kind of film is really important
and raises the standard of entertainment, up out of the sewer of filth that, otherwise, tries to creep into our living rooms and into our minds across our perfect and large digital screens ! The film unfolds logically, and with skill, relates the story clearly so that the audience is not confused. It moves along at a fast pace. There is really beautiful melodious music composed especially for this film in the background enhancing the romantic atmosphere. There are no actual murders or violence, or foul, vulgar language, yet, this film arouses our emotions much more than all the spectacular blood and gore films which still manage to leave us empty and bored. There is a plot focusing on the lives of a small group of people, who arouse our sympathy and engage us in their lives. It is an original and good script where many of the characters express real love and concern for each other. There is great self- control even when the characters are under pressure; and, they use normal voice range in speaking to each other in their everyday lives. They manage often to express themselves with graciousness, and charm to each other even in their family life . So civilised . There is still a feeling of order and beauty in their lives which is refreshing . Nice that this gem is available, to us, still. Thank you.
May l say, how wonderfully, eloquent
Thank you for sharing this! Yes, so agree, the best!
(After soaring prices I can no longer afford tv. Have been searching on here for over a year for good movies and tv productions to watch.)
Thank you again!
A kind note to everyone who has complained and thinks to complain that they cannot hear: As you can see this is a digitised copy of a copy of a copy, etc. of a VHS recording. Naturally, the sound has suffered during all the transfers, and any attempt to amplify it would have distorted it. The volume is low, but still most of the people managed to watch the film and hear it. The main reason that you cannot hear it well, is most probably that you are trying to watch it on a device, which has the sound volume limited (most mobile devices). Usually you will be able to turn the volume up enough to hear it, if you watch it on a desktop computer or via sound system or headphones with adjustable volume. I do hope that this will work for you.
I turned the volume up all the way, and I had no problem. Thanks for the vid.
I noticed that the volume was less than I expected so I checked the connections just in case. No problem, just increase the volume setting a little. The sound is clear which is better than a distorted loud sound that occasionally I get. I choose earphones etc that have good sensitivity just to cope with quiet things or a noisy environment.
You're welcome.
I can hear it too, thankyou for posting :)

Thanks for this recording I remember seeing this when it was on originally, it was brilliant shame the BBC don't make more like this!
Thank you - the recollection of the glimmering Dickensian similar world is always most welcome. And the plot has all the classic ingredients one could expect.
You're welcome.
Wonderful, thank you for posting this video!
I am such a Martin Shaw Fan. What fun New Year’s Treat to see him here in his younger days. Thank you. Greetings from Wyoming!🙋🏼♀️⛰🌠
Thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this film.Thank you.
I would like to thank you for this wonderful movie. I can barely imagine what pain she had to feel living this life. How easy it is to destroy a life of a person.
Thank you for your generous gift. The time and expertise to provide it.
Great movie, glad that didn't have to worry about the loud volume like others, this was perfect, did not hurt my 👂ears👂.👍
Old movie yes but still made me cry. I wanna live in those times where it is tranquil and simple.
Me, too.
Didn’t look too tranquil and simple to me. Were we watching the same movie?
Love the movie. However, not sure I would want to live in that era. IF I was well off, perhaps I would. 😊
I have never heard the name of this movie, as I am living in the eastern part of the world. But I watch almost every old english movie. I happened to come across this movie by chance, and I am almost glad that I found it.
How luck played hard on Isobel ( I may be misspelling the name), right from the very beginning until the end, as she kept suffering emotionally for nothing wrong on her part. A young woman so joyful, found a good husband but her luck stood to be her nemesis. Except for Francis Lucent who tried to cheat on Isobel, I don't see any character who could be smudged for doing something wrong to someone.
The acumen of the storyteller in writing such classics was to keep some semblance to what causes emotional breakdown. Isobel was strong, she never believed Francis, and she could have thwarted his approach towards her, but Francis took the advantage when he almost forcibly entered Isobel's carriage for showing something that she would have hated, when she broke down!
Exquisite. Bliss Absolute.
Thanks for uploading.
Lol, your description would be considered a Spoiler Alert, lol, however it doesn't spoil it for me. I truly like your description n how you also see the heart of people. Well done 😊
STOP complaining, the man is doing us all a favour by posting this so we can watch it FREE. It's nice of him to go to the trouble to share this. Be nice ffs!!!

An early appearance of Martin Shaw, this distinguished actor became a gorgeous silver fox who enthralled in every appearance .
Thanks for posting this, i have been looking for this for years
I like these older movies because there’s not a lot of swearing and killing and violence. Just a nice story.
When I Read the book I was 12 & I watch this movie my heart is almost stop because i remember my childhood
Thanks for the trouble you took to give us this beauty!
thank you so very much for sharing
THANK U VERY MUCH FOR SHARING, LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT,
AS FOR HEARING , I HAVE A LOUD SPEEKER ' THAT I ATTACH FROM "DOSS
AND I HAVE THE PRIVELIGE TO HEAR EVEN LOUDER---
Overwrought Victorian melodrama, but well-acted, directed and designed and actually enjoyable.
I have found that if you use ear plugs, or just one, the sound is perfect . I really enjoyed watching this movie.
I use the speaker boost app. Increases the volume 60%
The actress Lisa Eichhorn I have not seen in a while. Thanks for the film. atk
thank you so much for this! I will now re-read the book.
Decent in every way! Love it
Heartbreaking 😢
I love period movies...
Here's a great app you an download for free from Google Chrome. It's called "Volume Master", and you can dramatically increase the volume on individual shows. There is a small downside when you use it - you can't go to full-screen when viewing your show. I find it's not a big deal for the increased volume aspect. Theater mode is fine. Just an FYI.
2-17-2024. And our country is crumbling around us. Believers know what is happening, so although tense, we know the outcome.❤️
2024...A destruição das famílias, continua a todo vapor, com filmes , novelas, documentários , jornalismo fazendo doutrinação em massa para população desavisada!

Imagine having to live in everyone's back pocket knowing what they ate for dinner, what they wore on Sunday, the scandals of petite acts of meanness and cruelty.
Thanks for sharing !
Thank you 🤩🤩💖
Martin Shaw...my heart!
Very moving
That was one of the most incredible death scenes, ever🏆& a Perfect Ending👍
All those misunderstandings lol, heaven forbid couples just talk to each other🤦
thank you beautiful.
Gracias ,gracias,gracias!!!!!! Besos.
A very young Martin Shaw.
sound is perfectly fine
Great story!!!
Ayyyy, cómo me gustaría que estuviera en español... Gracias 🔔
Me gustaría que fuera subtitulada al idioma Español, de todas maneras, muchas gracias, estas películas de época son hermosas...
So far very good
At least they are courteous and sociable to each other, very nice and whenever thete is rudeness it is done considerable good taste at the time intended!!!
Hardly, being slapped n 2x mind you in front of a child is not in good taste. Being referred to as a expensive Toy is not in good taste & beyond rude.
Wow! Great thanks for this rare releas!
I hear it loud & clear ? thank you for the upload...!

Isabel is very gullible and impulsive and on the other hand, Archibald...oh, Archibald. Why didn't have a conversation with her? He left room for others to start intriguing.
lovely...el infinito amor de madre.
I like the no swearing,no any bloodiness!!!
i can see males not being able but it's highly unlikely any female wouldn't recognize lady isabel...
Salem moron
If Barbara changes that hair and a more happy disposition a man may become interested
Movies of today are screened and forgotten. Movies of yesteryear had great actors/actresses and great storyline’s. However, I must say that a lot of very very old movies seen on. TV (Foxtel/Classic Movies/UA-cam) are so out of date I wonder why they are still thought as being entertaining.
Well made movie, story is s bit like Anna Kareena but much less tragic
Lovely....where is Part 2,please?
What's wrong with Shaw's right cheek? Looks like he's got as shiner!
I saw a interview were he explained that he was beaten up and that was the a false cheek that was put in , he showed how it could move
Sad to hear you plan to delete comments that are spoilers. Most people who comment with spoilers warn one at first. I personally am never unhappy knowing what's going to happen before I see it. I can pay closer attention to the acting abilities and appreciate the actors more when I see how they will play the roll leading to the spoiler. Please don't delete my choice to read spoilers.
The add-on called 'Soundfixer' will help with YT videos like this.
The 'Sound Adjustment' add-on should also help. Use both.
The setting of East Lynn is a place called Parnham House - situated in Dorset England. It was a beautiful jewel of a house as you can see of it from the outside - 16th century. Unfortunately a fire in 2017 burned most of it down leaving only the outer walls, some inner walls and most of the service block intact. If you Google the house you can see that it was indeed very beautiful and in an equally lovely situation. The house was up for sale for £3million and has been bought by someone (un named) who has been said to have enough money to totally restore the house and gardens. One can only hope!
I wonder how many people could be fed or housed with that kind of momey...
@@shadetreader True, however why even stress your little mind about it. Perhaps WHEN you win the Lottery, you would PLEASE fill that wonder & that would so keep your pretty lil mind at ease n quite busy. Peace be with you 🙏
I took a break from the political news that has America on the edge of disaster.
Prayers for peace in America ...
This movie was a great distraction, I enjoyed it, thank you for sharing!
Me too after seeing Venezuela today. Speaking from Africa, take care to enter these months with prayer and trembling. I don't want you to go the same way.
🙏
Having grown up in the US, I can assure all we live for opportunities to be "on the edge of disaster." Born drama queens are we. But, I agree, some British Victorian drama serves as a great distraction or poultice. Carry on.
These older period movies are the best. No swearing no blood and gore no pole dancers just a beautifully done movie. Thanks.
Penny Perris sure...just a little adultery and child abandonment and deception and death! Way better and more mature than a simple naughty word.
beast shawnee :😂🤣💀🤣😂💀

Very poor reply!
Penny Perris well you are kinda disrespecting the pole dancers. It is an art too.
Katrinka SFBA 😈😈😈
BBC production of films and series is the best I have met in my life. I am 73 years old and I still remember some things. Thank you very much for meeting the top artist again.
Sad we don’t have more recent movies made this lovely. We have Hollywood trash - this is class. Thanks for sharing!
Beyond trash my friend 🤐
@@arnoldamaral3814 These period movies are so refreshing and truer to real life. Very relaxing to watch. Even uplifting. Can't find enough of them...
British is best!
Check out the show SHARPE about a Irish military officer when England was fighting the French. Also there are some episodes of CAPTAIN HARATIO HORNBLOWER. Sean Bean looks dashing in the first one.
Bullshit, there's plenty of movies like this made recently.

Wow! 10yrs ago you posted this wonderful movie. I so pray you're well & that you shall review n reply to some of now, 10yrs later?
They just don’t make beautiful movies like these anymore. 😔
If only such "villain music" would play in real life , fewer hearts would be broken, mine among them.
Truth ❤️
I love that idea ❤
I love Victorian Movies!🌹❤️🔥😘😘😘😘
I just love these old movies. So much better than the trash they make nowadays.
ME TOO
Eu Sei - I agree, I get so tired of all the sex scenes they seem to have to have in movies today, and it seems every movie has to have romance and soppy love scenes. Some of us want to see characters like real life in realistic life circumstances. If it says romance I tend to avoid them and the constant love scenes bore me to tears, would rather a good old movie any day over that trash we get today.
So true
Eu Sei ~~~~ I'm whit you on that one 100% ~~~ nowadays is very rare to find something meaningful to watch!!
I'm ok with with tasteful Romance, w/out the act of sex, where it demonstrates descretion & encourages beautiful imagination of that beautiful union. The dialog I love love, so poetic. Thank God, for the many that wrote journals n letters, otherwise we would not have known this manner of expression.
Really loved it! Wonderfully played! Thank you for sharing! The sound was all right!
No,the sound was not all right.
@@AnaG-pd3ymuse ear plugs
@@AnaG-pd3ym Truly sorry that you couldn't hear the movie. However, for most of us, we were fine with the sound. Hopefully you read about some of tips on improving the sound. Otherwise, I hope another movie will work out for you. Peace be with you 🙏
I watched Cranford and the sequel years ago, and I was struck by the charm of the actor who played the long lost brother. It was Martin Shaw. So when I saw his name, I figured this would be good. Thanks!
Thank you for such a wonderful movie, warms my heart. So much better than swearing sex violence and everything trashy they make today.

Exactly
They made movies just as filled with sex and violence and 'everything trashy' back in 1982, and there are movies as 'genteel' as this made today.
Love these old classic films. And love all British, too.
i LOVE these period dramas thanks a lot!
+Lynn Beers You're welcome. :)
Wow! Martin Shaw looks good in Victorian dress. I love period costume dramas like these
Thank you very much for the video, I am enjoying it. I don’t understand why people want to complain about the slightest thing. It’s a copy of an old film, I can watch and hear it, that’s enough for me. Thank you again and have a good day. To the complainers, don’t worry about the little things and start to enjoy life while you have it.
Its not a copy of an old film.. its a TV serial as I recall it from the 1980s`
I gave this a try, recognized the name Martin Shaw, but what thinking of someone else. When I saw those eyes, I realized who it was. A handsome man in his older and grayer hair years of today. Boy was he smoldering back when this movie was made. What a heart breaker! Thanks for posting.
That movie never fails to have me in floods of tears - thank you SO much for taking the time to upload
I’m glad that if my husband’s relatives or friends treated me that badly, he would have sent them packing.
I so agree & that still continues to this day. 😮
Thank you for posting this lovely movie, a real tear-jerker. I think it's my age but I don't like most movies and look for british-made and old movies.
I really loved the movie and tears came to my eyes at the end. Would like to see more like that.
I am not complaining I understand an appreciate the effort to post this movie for us Thank you!
Chcę prosić o polskie tłumaczenie, dziękuję.
One of the best loved stories during Victorian and later times. Great adaptation for tv.
the sound was too quiet, too many actors looked like another, and often times the actors mumble! Not worth a minute of time! Yes, I did use external speaker to get volume even with loud volume, I did not understand much of what they said, especially about who was who.
