This is still my number one ML recipe that I have been making for almost a year. I do cover the top with tomato sauce just because my wife likes it? I prefer it without the sauce but I have been married for 45 years and learned to keep the wife happy!!! Desert tonight is my special Eskimo pie hot fudge sundae!!
I use bread cubes and milk instead of the bread crumbs. I cut 2 to 4 slices of white bread into small cubes and then incorporate the cubes and milk into the meat. Every thing else is the same. My method is just a variation. Good video.
I just made this-and let me tell ya-WOW! It was sooo delicious!! I seasoned the top of the meatloaf with more season all and garlic powder before I put in the oven and it was great. Also made the homemade gravy! Everything was delicious. Never a disappointment!! Thanks girl! 🥰
This looks great. I do a layer of sliced potatoes on the bottom of the pan and drizzle some olive oil and garlic and rosemary. For the actual load i use a triple mix (Like meat balls) Beef veal and pork. Then i add ketchup , dijon mustard, Worcestershire and soy sauce some caramelized on. A package of Knorr vegetable soup mix , two eggs , bread crumbs and pepper No salt because of the other ingredients which have plenty of sodium Comes out nice and moist!!!
Thanks for the nice recipe. I made some additions. I put grated carrots in it, and two strips of bacon on top. I like it a little more well done also. Further, I use 80/20 and it comes out great.
This is practically how I make mine. No ketchup slathered on top either (don't like it at all). I used my own blended garlic seasoning, added some italian sausage, used bread instead of bread crumbs and added a large chopped habañero pepper. It was perfect and juicy!
I put potato wedges and baby carrots and wedges a cabbage just any kind of different vegetable you want to put around the meatloaf and put foil over it when you bake it then you've got a meal and one pan and it is awesome. I use the Mrs dash original blend seasoning all over my vegetables.
I made this exactly as you laid it out except for using an egg substitute instead of an egg and I coated the meatloaf with a mix of 1/4 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup barbeque sauce. It's the best meatloaf I've made so far. The next time I make it I'll use a sweet onion instead of a yellow onion and that will probably make it even better. I did that with pot roast and it was a big improvement.
My wife decided to go to college, so I'm learning how to cook. I just did this recipe and it turned out great. Also, I think it's supper cool that you can cook for your family without feeling like you're "oppressed by the male dominated society."
I cook this for a lot of people, today is the 4th of July so a neighbor will be over to have dinner. I have tried several different recipes but this is now my one and only. Easy to make, very little cleanup. My one difference is I have a meatloaf pan that keeps the loaf out of the grease or runoff. I still rest it though. Today is a salad, steamed asparagus, baked potato with drum sticks for dessert. Gotta keep it simple!!!!!!!
If you want a really tender & juicy meatloaf, soak the breadcrumbs in milk with an egg beaten into it. It'll form a pasty dough. Mix it like you would. It.. is.. bangin'!
You can take a box of stuffing for the bread crumbs and there is really no reason to sautee the onions.. Yes we put a small glaze on top (katchup, Brown sugar and Worstchestire). Just about any meatloaf is great and a welcome addition to the family table.
Great topping for meatloaf: bacon slices on the top stretched out, you put it on in the beginning. Delicious ....another one is making a combo of ketchup and brown sugar and spread all over the top 10-15 minutes before the loaf is done. Some people like more brown sugar, some prefer more ketchup. The sweet of this and savory of the meat loaf in a great combo. Give it a try.😉
Sunday suppers were always special at my house growing up, and until my kids were out of the house , I did it also. My mom was such a wonderful cook. My favorite was pork roast with mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans or carrots. This brings me back. Nothing better than a good meatloaf and the sandwichs the next day. Thanks again
i love your stress free way of cooking, its not brain surgery. your meatloaf was great when i made it I make several variations based on what i have, like i've substituted quick oats for the bread crumbs. meat loaf is a very versatile comfort food!
This looks wonderful I often use some salsa in my meatloaf. The onions, peppers, and tomatoes are all there and it makes it so moist. Perfect comfort food with mashed potatoes and peas. Yum.
I tried this recipe and my family loved it! Letting the meatloaf rest made all the difference. It held together very well. Will make it again for sure!
Love Love meatloaf! My Mom bless her soul 💗 made the best Meatloaf everrrr! It is mostly the same except a few variations; use crushed saltine crackers instead of bread crumbs. I use about 1 and 1/2 cups per 2lbs of ground beef. ( you may want to adjust your salt) I find the saltines better in flavor and you get a better texture. I use 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 c of milk. Add 1 to 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, add the cheese very last and then gently fold it in. Lastly, mix your ketchup with brown sugar. About 1-2 cups or so, I like mine more sweet; make it to your liking. About 15 min till being done, spread your ketchup mixture on top and continue baking, uncovered of course. Try it with these suggestions, you'll also love 💕 it! 😁👏
Almost exactly like my recipe. The only difference is that I saute my onions, chopped garlic bulb, and salt and pepper before and add it to the mix. And sometimes I use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs.
Like your approach to cooking......Love meatloaf....make it often. I use raw chopped onion, add sliced bell pepper and mushrooms. Also leftovers go into the freezer, sliced and wrapped. Use a slice when making spaghetti sauce.....works perfectly! Has all the basic ingredients.
Yeah my Moms is 2lbs ground beef, 2 large eggs, one medium sized onion diced, plain corn flakes, worchteshire, garlic powder, coarse ground pepper. I have no idea what the measurements are because it was always "by eyeball" so when I make it now I just do the same.
1. Forty years ago my Grandma always served meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and homemade rolls to my cousin and I when we stayed at her house to put up hay. I wish I could bake bread like she did. 2. I like to use rolled oats as the filler in meatloaf, either with or in place of bread crumbs.
i put one quarter cup of golden mushroom soup in the mix and add red bell pepper for taste and color and chopped garlic after i saute the onions ...(i saute the onions with the bell pepper and the chopped garlic at the last minute of sauteing ) then i add some bread that has been soaking in a small amount of milk to the mixture and three eggs slightly mixed in it makes the meat firm up somewhat to make sure its good for meatloaf sandwiches...(i also put the rest of the can of golden mushroom soup on top after 15 minutes in the oven,it is really good, try it sometimes...
I crush one sleeve of saltines (by standing barefoot on the saltines while still in the package) and mix with half a big diced onion (or whole diced onion, if small onion) and one whole egg, plus salt and pepper and--if the mix is too dry-- up to a quarter cup of milk. Love the leftovers--cold meatloaf sandwiches. I hardly ever use garlic salt or catsup but if we do use them, we add our own to our dish after it's cooked and on the plate. We only cook in Worcestershire sauce if we want the meatloaf to taste more like BBQ. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of a great Sunday meal! It is comfort food to the max.
We are going to try this recipe. It is similar to what we've been doing but I like to try new things and so does he. What I really liked about the video is I used what I had and like you seem to be suggesting, don't go out and be fine things, use what's in your cupboard like your loaf pan or The spices you have in the cupboard. I like how you use your hands and you mix it until it looks right. I bet everybody loves your food!!!!thanks for sharing your recipes.
Wonderful lady, enjoy the happiness of husband and kids when they eat the meal you prepare. I hope the they appreciate your work as well. That is how to build a happy family, simple acts, no need to spend ton of monies to find the happiness.
My husband picked up freshly made meat loaf mashed potatoes from Costco and that’s our dinner tonight. I would normally make it but I’m having hip surgery in a couple days and we wanted to try some pre made dinners. I can’t wait to eat 😊 thanks for sharing.
This been out for years I cook mines this way and 4 other ways use ketchup now and then, i change up this is perfection at it's best. , I like tomatoes sauce better, , bell peppers onions .
I usually add onion's straight into the mixture it's not necessary to saute..I like onion's so use the whole onion. Add bell pepper as well..Turns out delicious!!
😂 LOWREY'S SEASONED SALT - LOVE that stuff. Great for fish and Campbells Tomato Soup is an excellent topping over meatloaf, unless you're the brown gravy type. No matter - terrific recipe. Meatloaf is one of the first things I learned to cook well over 50 years ago. The recipe I used was almost identical to yours, except for adding finely minced green pepper. I started to make it one day and didn’t have and breadcrumbs. I remembered seeing a recipe that used crushed cornflakes. I didn’t have those either, but did have Kellogg’s Team Flakes, a multigrain cereal. Best. Meatloaf. Ever! Unfortunately Kellogg’s discontinued them sometime in the late 1990’s. Lately I have found that Quaker’s Life cereal is nearly as good.
I appreciate how you presented your video in a straightforward and concise way. No unnecessary chitchat. I will definitely be trying this recipe very soon and I have subscribed. ☺️
Looks delicious and I will be making it for dinner tonight. My wife doesn't like it with the ketchup on top either. I can eat it either way. Thank you for the video...your household will be happy.
Made it for my wife and I Sunday night and it was a big hit! I only wish I'd made the gravy with it as the mashed potatoes were screaming for it! Thank you so much.
My family loves BBQ sauce instead of ketchup. I also add green bell peppers. This looks great, was telling hubby this weekend about making some small loaves to put in the freezer.
This looks like what my mother has been making since who knows how long. She puts raw onion in instead of sauteed but the worcester in the recipe and then the ketchup on top.
I had a sudden craving for meatloaf. I just put in the oven. Leftover meatloaf makes great sandwiches. I use to love those as a child. Can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing.🙏

Made this yesterday, oh my god my husband and I loved it. It’s awesome with or without ketchup 💖 Thankyou for this, will be making again in the future for sure
you're a good woman.. you said you're very happy to cook for for husband and kids ! i liked that ! your recipie is almost the same as mine... i add white rice in it sometimes. i am a white man out in pittsburgh. i'm gonna cook off 1 meat loaf right now stuffed with cheddar and mozzaarella cheese, green and red bell peppers.. we'll see how that turns out..

Outdoor freedom, since you've mentioned it to us, it seems as though you should post a video of that Eskimo pie!
Keep her happy, and you’ll aways be happy!! I love your comment! You are a smart man.

That sounds good!!!
I use the stone cut Oatmeal. It works very well and doesn't make the meatloaf have a flour like taste.
@sissa silia thanks
Can't wait to try this. My wife nor I has ever made meatloaf. Now 32 yrs later I'm gonna make this. Looks so simple. Thank you.

I'm a guy and i do not know how to cook but I'm willing to learn how to make meatloaf. Thank you for your video.
Thank you, someone else who cooks onions before putting in meatloaf!
Raw onions or peppers should never be put in a Meatloaf. Meatloaf 101.
Shared with my daughter who is making meatloaf for the first time. Thanks!
I also sauté the onions. Sometimes they stay crunchy if u don’t sauté first.
I like bell pepper and mine too.but there's a lot of different ways to cook but I love home cooking and I like to watch these home cook shows.
The best part about meatloaf are the leftovers that you use to make sandwiches the next day.

That is the way I had always done it. I put the ketchup in the top as well. For myself I add parmesan instead of egg as I am allergic.
