    This meatloaf has become a family staple and favorite. It is everything you want a meatloaf to be...moist, savory, classic and oh my goodness that glaze! Every time I make it, it's a hit! It even made it into our personal family recipe notebook that I've been composing for my daughters over the years, it's called "Laura's Meatloaf". Only the best recipes go into that notebook. You are officially part of the family now! Thank you Laura we love you!!!!!

    This is the first recipe of Laura's that I've made (besides the fudge) and I'm absolutely hooked. Our family usually has leftovers when we make meatloaf, but this time the whole thing disappeared in one sitting, and it's a larger recipe than the one we usually use. It has tons of flavor, fantastic texture, and the sauce is heavenly. Also, using the broiler pan was a great idea, it allowed a LOT of unnecessary grease to drain away. If you're reading this, do yourself a favor and make this recipe.

She's even started making mini meatloaves where anytime you want a sandwich, you just take one, slap it on a roll and enjoy, they fit perfectly!

      +Iyanna Garay There's a window open perhaps to Laura's right hand side and a strong breeze is flowing through at the time of recording this video. A logical explanation if the pots were coming off the rack and floating around in midair I'd say sell the house because there's probably a "Poltergeist" type presence there and you wouldn't want to live with that on a daily basis.

    • @imakefoodhappen
      @imakefoodhappen 4 роки тому +5

      When mixing ingredients together, you never pour things directly from a box or bag into a bowl already filled with other ingredients. If your hand shakes and you dump a cup of salt, how are you gonna recover from that now all your ingredients are ruined? If your hand is wet and you drop a glass jar into your pot? If you crack an egg directly inside a bowl full of combined ingredients, white ingredients, if you drop a shell, you might not see it. We always do it this way because when you're cooking in a restaurant kitchen, one mistake can ruin 100 portions of food.

      I live in italy, and as for my knowledge, there's no rule as to the meat used...it's changeable, every family has its recipe :)
      Sausage/pork and beef give it a little more moisture though, because of the fat content :)

    I made the mistake of making this meatloaf once. Now when I make it, I’m stuck making 2 bc my family is OBSESSED. When I say I make an amazing meatloaf people normally turn their nose up. This recipe turns EVERYONE out.

    But how sugary is that glaze? Americans often add so much sugar to their meat, they like it so sweet.

    • @doroth215
      @doroth215 7 років тому +2

      Thought so too! I love the recipe, BUT there are some food sugar does not belong to and meat is one of them for me. I would make the recipe, but without the sugar. Just can never eat sugar with meat together.

    • @MJLeger-yj1ww
      @MJLeger-yj1ww 7 років тому

      I don't like sweet with my meat either, you could leave off the brown sugar, or use tomato paste instead of catsup and then use a small bit of brown sugar, because catsup is sweet. This glaze is a nice balance though.

    Great recipe Laura! You're so right using a soft bread roll really does prevent meatloaf from tasting dry and using sirloin works best every time. Also I agree 100% making sandwiches the next day with leftover meatloaf is so delicious! Adding parmigiano into the mix and the tomato paste glaze is why this is one of the best meatloaf recipes 🍅🍅🍅

    I'v seen and made a lot of meatloaf, my wife has always said dry or tasteless afterwards, after watching this I going to make it for her and surprise her. I have cooked for 50 + years, been retired for 4 years, and have watched, cooked and made from a lot of recipes from videos. This one is the best I've seen, actually all your videos are the best. I am so glad to have find them. I listen to you, and you remind me of my Italian friend I hear it in your words, and it's nice memory, and you are so good in your cooking skills. Thank you for sharing your recipes, especially family one's too.

      Cambell's tomato soup last 10-15 minutes after transferring to baking pan. just enough fat to make a gravy with a bit of flour and water. Gramma sanctioned.
      Laura wins for the broiler pan idea for us infidels who just grab burger. Cooling racks are a pain to clean.
      Let's face it...Laura wins anyway.

    The bread in milk is the best way to add moisture and hold everything together... Its the way it was made when I was a kid in the 50's. We used oats only when we forgot to save the bread!
