To be honest even though I love the Civic Type R, I have to say the Focus RS is one of the greatest hatchbacks especially a tribute to the Escort Cosworth Man I wish that Cosworth did a one-off Focus RS
Ford almost went back to Cosworth twice for the first 2 generations. First one fell through because they thought the market wasnt big enough, and the second one as Ford could use Volvo's 5 cylinder. There is pictures of a 2.0 4cyl 4WD MK1 Focus RS somewhere about, but it never materialised unfortunately
For a guy who drives in a group with 2 2017 RS and a 2018 RS, this video hit most of the pros and cons to the car. Up here in the great white north, there aren't too many good options outside of the Evo and Sti so the RS was a nice sight for the rulers of the snow.
Bought one recently a 2018 wanted one ever since they first came out in 16 here in Michigan it's the best daily driver you could ever ask for so much for good gas mileage and I can't even begin to explain how well it does in snow
I must admit the focus RS did redefine the hot hatch. RWD and AWD with an lsd on both ends in some models, and being able to shunt the power to the rear on demand. As well as no turbo lag. I think it will be a classic collectable in future years. Gone forever. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I am pretty sure, that it will still be possible to import the new ST and RS , once they arrive on the european market. The ST is coming you this year, and while it is still speculation, a new RS should arrive sometime in 2020.
You guys should make an obituary episode for Ford since they're not going to make cars anymore. Detail their decision to hang up their wrench like Ric Flair hung up his wrestling boots

6:26 if you look closely on the right side of the intercooler, there is a square patch stuck on there by Ford to REDUCE the cooling efficiency of the intercooler. This is because the intercooler works too well in countries with colder weather and causes the pressurized air from the turbo to condense. This isn't a problem in countries with warmer climates so feel free to pull the square patch off for a tiny bit more power :)
Added to that the tariffs. The Focus and Fiesta are made in Germany now and shipping them over would make them too expensive to compete. Which is a shame. This year I am driving a new Fiesta and i have already ordered the new Focus for next year. They are 10/10 cars for me (in their class of course...)

But knowing ford, they’ll do the same thing that Chevy did with the Cruze and Malibu, only be an appearance package and not make it sporty at all and wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t come in a manual
Matt Holmes ok I think I have to explain something. The Focus is a product of „Ford of Europe“. The RS in the Video is the 3th generation of the RS and the first one sold in North America. They’re all imported from Germany. In Europe, we now have the 4th gen of Focus and of course there will be a RS too. Before they called it „Focus“ in the late 90s, it was the „Escort“, of which some RS and Cosworth version were available.
I'm happy you get sad and cry or thankful and cry. It's not often you get someone who's so passionate......about anything.....keep it up bro. Love......your.......shit.
One important thing to ask about - is it available with a manual transmission, or is it only automatic like most other cars in the US? I know automatics probably perform better than manuals these days, but they'll never be as much fun. I would assume that it would be manual, but never saw him shift and he never mentioned that either way.
Ah, good spot. Given that, it sounds like a totally awesome car. Really sucks that they've discontinued that, Ford will likely come to regret this abandoning of cars sooner or later.
Quill Maurer I completely agree. It’s one of my many dream cars lol. Hopefully they come to their senses and bring performance vehicles back into their lineup. For now I’m hoping Hyundai will save the game with their new veloster turbo N. Cheers 🍻
It's all about efficiency these days......not as much about fun behind the wheel......being stuck in traffic with a manual is a pain......auto or cvt is really nice......
Most people bashing the RS has never owned, much less driven one. I have owned two, a 2017 and 2018 RS. I sold my first one and was going to buy an STI (I was a Japanese fanboy) but after the test drive, there was no way I would settle for one. I bought a 2018 RS instead. Just got the Mountune B1 package and noticed a stronger pull all the way through the RPMs.

Here on Maui the only ford dealership on island had a $15,000 mark up on the RS. I loved the car and considered buying it over my ‘18 STI but the huge dealer mark up killed it for me, and the fact that it’s a $55k “Focus” killed it for my boss -erm.. -my wife I mean. Love you guys
In my experience Renault are utter shit - their electrics always fail because the cunts at the Friday afternoon factory don't bother greasing the connectors (or Renault actually decided to skip this important assembly measure). The same French cunts can't be bothered sealing the doors and so the inside door pockets fill up with water. I've never had an electrical connection problem with a Ford. I may have very rare electrical problems, like with a door motor, but it wasn't down to some lazy cunt on the assembly line not bothering with greasing the interconnects which is always a disaster waiting to happen.

I am fully aware who designed this RS and so are the muscle car guys. They usually don’t come back to the track.
No need for drama. The Last Great RS was the Focus Mk2. Just wait till the 25 year ban is over and enjoy it in the US ;) Green, mean, rally genes, perfect 5 cylinder engine... Why was Ford as dumb as to kill the 5 cylinder in the RS? That divine sound alone... The quality of the interior was questionable..cut hands by the steering wheel's peeling off silver trim, anyone? :D but honestly, who cares as long as the ride makes you believe that you're a rally driver? :) Not all gearheads are dumb..some just refuse to buy a "sharper" new generation with a "more powerful and efficient" 4 cylinder replacement and oh so cool driving modes... And that principal point...really? :D Just stop that rotten marketing... Being a dad who drives his daughter to school i couldn't care less about the principal's opinion on my exhaust :D

They are stoping production of ever car other than the mustang is because no one is buying them as much as Fords trucks and SUVs so why make them if pretty much no one is buying them
*In America
AND trucks/SUVs bring twice the price.
The fusion was the 19th most sold vehicle in the USA in 2017 overall at over 200k sold..so it doesn’t make sense why they’re gettin rid of all their cars
blame millenials and their crossovers
jimmy rodrigues It got outshined by other cars in the segment, plus people are definitely buying crossovers more than anything, hell ford is even investing in making the edge a st version which on paper sounds cool but still EW. Personally I feel like dealer mark ups kinda killed it yes it starts at 40k but being limited dealers and other sellers are slapping another 2k just cause
I watch this video almost once a week. I’m working toward getting you focus RS!
Same here man
UP TO SPEED!
UP TO SPEED!
UP TO SPEED!
We NEED the Up to Speed on the Focus!
there really isnt a whole lot on the focus, its the successor to the ford escort, and for the most part, is an economy car (minus the ST and RS)
LOL
I miss the inline 5 Focus.
The best focus but needed AWD
NO...AWD doesn't make it any faster in the dry.
The only good thing about that car is the engine, which is made by Volvo. The Mk3 was a joke, blew up in a couple thousand KM due to bad head gaskets.
nboy7 how so?
nboy7 you are completely uneducated on the head gasket problem. It was never “bad head gaskets” it was the EcoBoost mustang head gasket accidentally put on the RS. Ford recalled them
Unfortunately hatchbacks don't have enough freedom to satisfy the US market
Hugsy Malone yeah because dealers mark these things up to 50k+ and with that you can have a badass mustang
Silly people won't buy hatches but they'll buy marginally more spacious crossovers.
@@earlmcmanus194 It's mostly for the more comfortable driving position, not the versitility .
Right Wing Safety Squad , a higher H-point does not yield greater comfort.
@@earlmcmanus194 That is an opinion the majority of Americans would disagree with both of us on. The success of the Focus over the Golf and Clio in the U.K. would suggest that most Brits disagree with us as well. And as cars like the CX3 have shown, it's about the h-point relative to the floor, not the ground.
As much as I have a love/hate relationship with my '13 Focus SE (waiting for the fixed transmission to die), I'm pretty sad Ford cut off production of these in the US.
Subaru needs to bring back the hatchback WRX like if you agree!
Forrest Hassell should be an option for sure. I didn’t like how they forced it on you a few years back and not offer both a sedan or hatch.
hell no they were the only bad looking WRXs
iEat Crayons the only bad looking WRX/STi in my opinion is the new generation, I said it 🤷🏻♂️ 2014 STi hatch is my next car. enjoiLife198 dude a 2014 STI hatchback in world rally blue stock is a great investment there just appreciating right now
only if they make something that looks different and better then the crosstrek looking thing, bleh... has to be unique
To be honest even though I love the Civic Type R, I have to say the Focus RS is one of the greatest hatchbacks especially a tribute to the Escort Cosworth
Man I wish that Cosworth did a one-off Focus RS
Ken Block even made the Fiesta and Focus even LIT
Not one comment in this section about the headgasket problems?
I'm impressed!

They're still making hatchbacks and sedans, they're just not releasing them in north america anymore because they don't sell good there
Added to that the tariffs. The Focus and Fiesta are made in Germany now and shipping them over would make them too expensive to compete. Which is a shame. This year I am driving a new Fiesta and i have already ordered the new Focus for next year. They are 10/10 cars for me (in their class of course...)

God I cried when I heard that they stopped the ford focus line
They’re continuing the focus and there will prob be another RS model coming
But no for the USA
But knowing ford, they’ll do the same thing that Chevy did with the Cruze and Malibu, only be an appearance package and not make it sporty at all and wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t come in a manual
Only the Focus Active...which is a crossover.
A lot of modern Fords have their roots in Europe. One of the reasons they're(or they were) the best domestic make.

One important thing to ask about - is it available with a manual transmission, or is it only automatic like most other cars in the US? I know automatics probably perform better than manuals these days, but they'll never be as much fun. I would assume that it would be manual, but never saw him shift and he never mentioned that either way.
Yes, the RS in the video is a manual (2:08 you can see the shifter). Also, most of these I’ve seen for sale are manuals/“fully optioned out”.

Everything you need to know on get up to speed on RENAULT.
Renault make the best hot hatches, pugs are getting back there too.
I'd still buy the civic type R
