I'm coming back to WoW after a 10-year hiatus. I want to understand more, this time, about the hunter class than I did 10 years ago. I love the idea of a rotation guide to help coach me on which spells needs to be cast and the best times for casting. Thanks so much for making this video.
Ok one thing of note to get even more dps from this addon, you can Sim any character and add the raw input into the main hekili option screen -> priorities - > spec - > profile tab (then hit import [NOT ACCEPT]) Now you have a tailored optimized rotation based on the current spec and exact gear you are wearing (should see atleast a 30% increase beyond using the generic rotation) I would also like to note that with doing this customized input I am able go get within 300 dps from my simmed raidbots stated dps both single and aoe
@@danielmckenzie909 You do not need to import from SimC, priorities already factor in your gear. If you import from SimC, nothing is guaranteed to work because almost all priorities require a bit of additional translation.
It's possibly a new update, but Hekili has spellflash built in. There are five options I think, thin circle, thick circle, star, and two others I can't recall
Instead of using the spellflash addon, just go to the keybinding tab and have the rotation show the keybind instead of the spell icon so you can focus more on the fight and less on the action bars.
hey i know this comment is old but how do you do this? i cant get both the keybind on, and spell icon off. hate that i stare at the icon instead of the fight like you said

Im using hekili for years now, but they still haven't fixed the issue with different bar-hotkeys if you're using bartender or elvui... It does show wrong bindings if you're switching the bar via a stance, e.g. druid cat form...

I am brand new to shadow priest - after maining demon hunter since Legion - and I find it overwhelming and not intuitive by comparison. After using Heliki for a few days, my dps has increased by a wide margin. Thank you for this guide. I have a question, is it possible to modify Heliki so that CD's over 1 minute do not get recommended to me in the priority? If things are close to death, I don't want to use Mindbender or my covenant abilities if I can't get the full or close to full 15 second duration.
I might have missed it in the video, but let's say I want to copy Icy-veins rotation into Hekili, (if not copy then just write it in manually). how do I do then?
I would love to do that. Part of the challenge is that importing simmed profiles does not work for some classes and Hekili does a lot of manual adjustment to the profiles. For example, balance druid sims that I tested recommended casting moonfire over and over again lol. Fixing it requires some coding knowledge that I will go over when I get around to working on that video :)
Love your video and love this addon, I'm just having a problem with the defensives and interrupts showing up, I've turned them on everywhere I can find. Hoping someone will see this and be able to put their finger on my problem.

im loving this addon but on my first spell, it shows my name which blocks the number bound to that spell. how can i remove my name from the icon of the first spell?
do you know if we can make 2 primaries. one that shows the burst rotation aznd one that shows normal rotation, still calculating if the bursts cooldown have been applied. for Evoker it doesn't work as of today
I have a problem using it on my hunter. It never suggests any AoE even if im fighting like 5 enemies. But when i cast multi shot then it will start showing multi shot.
Hey Hossman, great question. The challenge here is the way that Hekili works. For melee characters, it will suggest AoE spells based on the number of enemies nearby. For ranged characters, it will count the number of "damaged" enemies you are currently in combat with (since it can't look at enemies nearby).
Thanks for the great video! I am having one issue though. The Hekili buttons will not show up on the screen for my Arcane Mage. I use the addon for all my dps toons with no problem but can't figure out how to get it to show up on the mage. Any ideas?
Is there a way to stop this mod from reporting into the chatbox? The mod works great for me, but I get a lot of messages in the chat window that I would like to turn off.
I think evokers are still in beta mode in Hekili. Not 100% sure, but I think I spotted it under the Beta title on the front page of the addon as of yesterday
Hoping someone here can help - I had to remove all my addons to start fresh. I had Hekili setup to flash my action bar icons but now I can't find it to save my life. And I did **not** have SpellFlash at the time. I won't install it now as it's about 4 years old and not for 10.2.5. Does anyone know where in the menu I can do this again? I hate the icons on my screen. Thanks!
Hmm, I don't think that the window position is a saved variable. That means you should be able to type /reload or relaunch the game to fix it. Let me know if that doesn't work.
I'm trying to set up Hekili (v10.0.5-1.0.16) for my monk, I moved the icons so that the single target (primary) in on the left and AOE is on the right. My issue is that if I have it set to automatically detect the number of targets, it never shows the AOE queue, and if I manually force it to show both primary and AOE at the same time, they are always the same queue Any idea what I might have done wrong?
Just wondering if the rotations hekili suggests are current including covenant abilities which may change rotation and weather taking different talents affect it also. Playing a venthyr fury warrior, condem (execute) becomes my most favoured ability and it is also recomended to cancel bladestorms depending on certain procs and not capping on rage. Basically i am just wondering if the addon is able to alter the rotation depending on these things or if it is more of a baseline rotation suggestion. cheers
As chill said, Hekili does take into account the situation you are in. It will constantly be checking for covenant abilities off cooldown and for things like execute. The suggestions are pretty nuanced and come from what are called Action Priority Lists (APLs). APLs are the same things that services like AskMrRobot and Raidbots use as well. That isn't to say it is perfect. It still can't detect certain mechanics like Sludgefist hitting a pillar, so some player discretion is still needed to get the most out of it.
Installed this addon, and someone on the SpellFlash Curse page said Hekili has it built in now, but I can't get it to work with Hekili. Was that person mistaken? Do I still need SpellFlash installed? I'd also been reading that it's not working anymore and I see it hasn't been updated in a long time...

Yes, the addon will suggest covenant abilities and looks at what legendary you are wearing. It isn't perfect for every class but it is good for many of them!
Yes. I have the Cov. Abilities enabled. I typically don't enable the trinket use or the protection abilities (even though I really should) but I have so many abilities already I really don't have the keys available to use them all. The trinkets I use can add to DPS if you can remember to use it and protection abilities can make it less mana intensive on your healers. I've noticed a remarkable increase in DPS on my Death Knight, my Druid and my Shadow Priest. This addon automatically changes rotation on the fly so based on the spells, abilities or cool downs you find it necessary to use don't get confused about what you need to cast, it's figured that out for you already. Makes it easy to use protections when necessary if your healer is low then get back on track with your rotation.
Hi, I wanna play patch 5.4.8 on a specific server and I was wondering if I should download latest version of Hekili which is 9.2.5 or I have to download the version related to 5.4.8?
Good question, you would want to download the version specific to the patch you are playing in because rotations/priorities change so much from patch to patch.
i would like to know why on the rotation with my shadow priest my void eruption is never recomended. Its because it takes that skill like an aoe? nice video
I know Hekili is new and still in Beta for WotLK Classic. I was able to get it to work on druid but will have to test for priest. I'm guessing that the addon author will get things squared away as it moves from beta to official release.

Yeah, Hekili works decently well while leveling. It is optimized for high-level characters with all their abilities so it won't be perfect while leveling but it should direct you towards your most important spells and cooldowns!
Hi I great video. I just have one issue that after importing my Sim all saving it ready to dps all my Hekili icons disappeared I am looking for a solution. It looks like you might of had the same issue at the end.
You are right, I had the same problem lol. When I was recording, I forgot to hit "Accept" before hitting "Import" so my icons disappeared. If you hit accept first it should work. Hopefully that helps!
Your cooldowns should incorporate into your primary or AoE bar. You can turn cooldown recommendations on by left-clicking the minimap icon and then toggling cooldowns on. If you want your cooldowns to be in their own bar, make sure to check "Show Separately" under the Toggle menu from the Hekili options. Hope that helps!
Hmm, I know several other people have mentioned that SpellFlashCore is not working for them. I am not sure if it is a conflict with another addon. I wish I could replicate it and figure out what the problem is.

Hmm, it is a little tricky to know exactly what is happening without more information. If you left click on the Hekili minimap icon, does it show that the "Enable" option is checked with a gold circle?
Hmm, I see what you are saying. When I loaded a rotation for my druid, it was only suggesting to use Moonfire over and over again. In doing a little debugging, it looked like the trigger which finds if the DoT is already on an enemy wasn't changing. The developers are pretty good about responding to issues on GitHub. I may look around and see if anyone else is having this problem. Nice find!
@@zaanaan4411 Not yet, I have submitted it as a bug on Hekili's GitHub page so we will see what the developers say. In the meantime, the built-in balance druid rotation should be good to use. I know they just updated it last month. You can switch it back in the options with Priorities -> Balance -> Active [checkbox]).
Dang, I know several other people have had the same problem. I am not sure if it is a conflict with another addon or problem in the underlying Hekili code. For now, you could use the Hekili icons and not worry about the action bar. Or, you could try out ConRo, a similar addon that produces good results but has the action bar overlay built-in. So nothing is showing up for me. Is it automatic or do I need to import something for it to start working. the information on hwo to make this addon is so skewed and sparse it's hard to make any sense of it. For reference i'm playing Mage wotlk classic
Hey, I haven't had a chance to test the Classic version of Hekili (it is new and beta and wasn't supported in TBC). I'll download it tonight and see if I run into a similar issue.
Downloaded it, and I am seeing spells, but it isn't updating properly. It looks like they ported it from retail and have some bugs to work out. The authors are really active with updates so I would keep your eyes out for updates and I imagine it should resolve in the next couple of days.
You can open the Hekili options and then go to the bar you want to hide under Displays ("Primary", "AOE", etc...). From there, click on the Visibility tab -> Advanced checkbox -> Always slider to 0. Hope that helps!
Hi there, i`m currently on a unholy DK, heres my problem i attack a mob then the icom "summon pet"shows up i summon pet the icon is still showing untill the mod is dead then the icon gose away. any ideas ?
Hmm, interesting. I will have to jump onto my DK and see if I run into the same problem. I will let you know what I find. Are you using a custom rotation or the one built into Hekili?
That is certainly an option. I like the rotation addon route more because it can help you learn the rotation and makes it easier to ignore suggestions and change things up if needed based on the situation. So many ways to play!
Yeah, Hekili makes their rotations for characters over level 50. If you use it under level 50 you are missing some spells and the recommendations aren't as good. But it is definitely legal :)
The WotLK version is still in beta but should work for several of the classes. Luckily the author (Hekili) is pretty active and I imagine any classes that still need work will be updated soon.

@@Piroxzone Thanks Pirox, I understand what you mean :). I tested a SimC rotation in Hekili for balance druid and it was only recommending one spell (not good). I talked to the addon developers and they said that you have to change the SimC profile to make it work. I would like to make a video showing how to fix it. For now, you should see good results with the rotation built in the addon.
@@Roger-Peterson-o7g Great question, you do need to have SpellFlashCore. In my testing, I found that it would work with SpellFlashCore by itself. You can install both, but it might make sense to only install SpellFlashCore. Let me know if that doesn't work.
I did some testing and it works with the core one. I disabled it and went to download just the regular spellflash (13.3 million) and found out it is the same one. So in other words it don't matter which one you install because they are both the same.
Yep! WotLK is the first classic expansion to be supported by Hekili. It is still in beta, but the author (Hekili) does a good job of providing constant updates.
So I'm brand new to this game. My DPS as a frost mage is so ridiculously low. I'm level 31 now and my friends get 3-4x my DPS. Idk if it's bc they have heirlooms, or I suck at my rotations. Going to try this later and see how it goes. Maybe I've been messing up my rotations BADLY. I hope so because my damage is embarrassing.
Heirlooms could certainly be a contributor. One of the keys to improved damage output is Item Level (iLvl). Heirlooms automatically scale to the player's level, thus constantly upping the iLvl. In your case, you're (probably) relying on loot drops, which probably won't scale up as quickly. (Also, sad to say, frost mage is a bit harder to maximize damage on than, say, fire mage.) (I'm working on an Arcane Mage for raiding Sanctum of Domination, so I sort of feel your pain!) If you haven't already, check out Wowhead or Icy Veins for guides on how to better optimize your character.

Yeah, I know Hekili tweeted around the release of TBC Classic and said he had looked into it but it was not performing well. I don't see him doing it anytime soon sadly.

Great question, yes it is legal. According to the terms of service, you can't use addons that play your character for you. All these addons do is make suggestions on what spell you should use next, but they won't play for you. They basically work like a WeakAura (in fact some WeakAuras do similar things) which is a great legal addon.
I played Shadow Priest ... and all I saw on Recount was I was top dps constantly in my dungeons when I did Mythic + back in January ... I don't need this add-on to do the rotation because it doesn't take Everything into consideration.

You can't. The Addon uses slightly different syntax than Simcraft output...

Sadly no. When TBC came out, the addon author explored the idea but ultimately decided against it.

For meta to show up you do need to make sure the cooldown toggle is enabled. Is the word "Cooldowns" enabled when you left-click on the minimap icon?

This addon automatically changes rotation on the fly so based on the spells, abilities or cool downs you find it necessary to use don't get confused about what you need to cast, it's figured that out for you already. Makes it easy to use protections when necessary if your healer is low then get back on track with your rotation.

Good question, you would want to download the version specific to the patch you are playing in because rotations/priorities change so much from patch to patch.
i would like to know why on the rotation with my shadow priest my void eruption is never recomended. Its because it takes that skill like an aoe? nice video

I know Hekili is new and still in Beta for WotLK Classic. I was able to get it to work on druid but will have to test for priest. I'm guessing that the addon author will get things squared away as it moves from beta to official release.

I am coming back to wow from a very long break. Will this work while leveling up? I truly do not remember what my rotations should be for my spec.
Yeah, Hekili works decently well while leveling. It is optimized for high-level characters with all their abilities so it won't be perfect while leveling but it should direct you towards your most important spells and cooldowns!
Hi I great video. I just have one issue that after importing my Sim all saving it ready to dps all my Hekili icons disappeared I am looking for a solution. It looks like you might of had the same issue at the end.
You are right, I had the same problem lol. When I was recording, I forgot to hit "Accept" before hitting "Import" so my icons disappeared. If you hit accept first it should work. Hopefully that helps!

How do I add cooldowns in the cooldowns bar? I can't figure it out.
Your cooldowns should incorporate into your primary or AoE bar. You can turn cooldown recommendations on by left-clicking the minimap icon and then toggling cooldowns on. If you want your cooldowns to be in their own bar, make sure to check "Show Separately" under the Toggle menu from the Hekili options. Hope that helps!

Hmm, I know several other people have mentioned that SpellFlashCore is not working for them. I am not sure if it is a conflict with another addon. I wish I could replicate it and figure out what the problem is.

Hmm, it is a little tricky to know exactly what is happening without more information. If you left click on the Hekili minimap icon, does it show that the "Enable" option is checked with a gold circle?
when importing from simC, hekili keeps telling me to use only 1 skill at all times and not a rotation, my class is druid balance
Hmm, I see what you are saying. When I loaded a rotation for my druid, it was only suggesting to use Moonfire over and over again. In doing a little debugging, it looked like the trigger which finds if the DoT is already on an enemy wasn't changing. The developers are pretty good about responding to issues on GitHub. I may look around and see if anyone else is having this problem. Nice find!

@@zaanaan4411 Not yet, I have submitted it as a bug on Hekili's GitHub page so we will see what the developers say. In the meantime, the built-in balance druid rotation should be good to use. I know they just updated it last month. You can switch it back in the options with Priorities -> Balance -> Active [checkbox]).

Dang, I know several other people have had the same problem. I am not sure if it is a conflict with another addon or problem in the underlying Hekili code. For now, you could use the Hekili icons and not worry about the action bar. Or, you could try out ConRo, a similar addon that produces good results but has the action bar overlay built-in. So nothing is showing up for me. Is it automatic or do I need to import something for it to start working. the information on hwo to make this addon is so skewed and sparse it's hard to make any sense of it. For reference i'm playing Mage wotlk classic
Hey, I haven't had a chance to test the Classic version of Hekili (it is new and beta and wasn't supported in TBC). I'll download it tonight and see if I run into a similar issue.
Downloaded it, and I am seeing spells, but it isn't updating properly. It looks like they ported it from retail and have some bugs to work out. The authors are really active with updates so I would keep your eyes out for updates and I imagine it should resolve in the next couple of days.
How can I make the addon only load while in combat?
You can open the Hekili options and then go to the bar you want to hide under Displays ("Primary", "AOE", etc...). From there, click on the Visibility tab -> Advanced checkbox -> Always slider to 0.

Hi there, i`m currently on a unholy DK, heres my problem i attack a mob then the icom "summon pet"shows up i summon pet the icon is still showing untill the mod is dead then the icon gose away. any ideas ?

Why not just use weakauras and use the cast sequence scripts and mash 1 button?
That is certainly an option. I like the rotation addon route more because it can help you learn the rotation and makes it easier to ignore suggestions and change things up if needed based on the situation. So many ways to play!

You can remove your cooldowns from the suggestions by clicking on the minimap icon and disabling cooldowns in the list.

Yeah, Hekili makes their rotations for characters over level 50. If you use it under level 50 you are missing some spells and the recommendations aren't as good. But it is definitely legal :)

The WotLK version is still in beta but should work for several of the classes. Luckily the author (Hekili) is pretty active and I imagine any classes that still need work will be updated soon.

@@Piroxzone Thanks Pirox, I understand what you mean :). I tested a SimC rotation in Hekili for balance druid and it was only recommending one spell (not good). I talked to the addon developers and they said that you have to change the SimC profile to make it work. I would like to make a video showing how to fix it. For now, you should see good results with the rotation built in the addon.

@@Roger-Peterson-o7g Great question, you do need to have SpellFlashCore. In my testing, I found that it would work with SpellFlashCore by itself. You can install both, but it might make sense to only install SpellFlashCore. Let me know if that doesn't work.

I did some testing and it works with the core one. I disabled it and went to download just the regular spellflash (13.3 million) and found out it is the same one. So in other words it don't matter which one you install because they are both the same.

Yep! WotLK is the first classic expansion to be supported by Hekili. It is still in beta, but the author (Hekili) does a good job of providing constant updates.

So I'm brand new to this game.
My DPS as a frost mage is so ridiculously low. I'm level 31 now and my friends get 3-4x my DPS. Idk if it's bc they have heirlooms, or I suck at my rotations.
Going to try this later and see how it goes. Maybe I've been messing up my rotations BADLY. I hope so because my damage is embarrassing.

Heirlooms could certainly be a contributor. One of the keys to improved damage output is Item Level (iLvl). Heirlooms automatically scale to the player's level, thus constantly upping the iLvl. In your case, you're (probably) relying on loot drops, which probably won't scale up as quickly. (Also, sad to say, frost mage is a bit harder to maximize damage on than, say, fire mage.) (I'm working on an Arcane Mage for raiding Sanctum of Domination, so I sort of feel your pain!) If you haven't already, check out Wowhead or Icy Veins for guides on how to better optimize your character.

Hmm, that is odd. If it helps, the addon I am using is called SpellFlashCore by BigRedBrent. I tested it again this morning and was working on my characters.

Great question, yes it is legal. According to the terms of service, you can't use addons that play your character for you. All these addons do is make suggestions on what spell you should use next, but they won't play for you. They basically work like a WeakAura (in fact some WeakAuras do similar things) which is a great legal addon.

I played Shadow Priest ... and all I saw on Recount was I was top dps constantly in my dungeons when I did Mythic + back in January ...
I don't need this add-on to do the rotation because it doesn't take Everything into consideration.
