All the little details even on the most essential of parts surely make a world of difference. Gonna have to likely go the same path as you with the front brakes, mine has the same tell-tale signs of disintegration. Wonderful just watching you sort through the system.

This one was particularly painful. I struggled for days with numerous problems but the reversal of the inner castings was a real nightmare. It's not something that is obvious or intuitive to a home mechanic. On top of that the master cylinder was failing and the calipers were seized. This one was a huge learning experience for me. Hope it helps with yours.

Excellent Video. Where did you find the replacement Sight Glass?

Thanks! The replacement sight glass can be found on Amazon if you shop there. Just search for "motorcycle master cylinder sight glass" and you should get a ton of responses. They should come with the o-ring. Get two because you're gonna break the first one...pretty much guaranteed. Shouldn't be more than $15 for a pack of 2. Unless you have a really odd size, then you'll be safe - they're mostly all 18mm.

“Almost every virago you see has this chewed up”… no I don’t think that’s true. The notches in the bolt are their from the factory to tell you it’s reverse thread.
