  • I had the font end of my Yamaha Virago XV1100 apart for fork seals and brake rebuild. Here's a video of bleeding the dual calipers and installing new pads.

    Mate, you save a lot of time, if you disconnect the main hose at the master cylinder and fill the brake lines up with brake fluid. Some people have problems getting the air out completely, a good trick is to pull the lever, put a rubber band around the pulled lever and leave it overnight. ztThe bubbles will go into the reservoir and it saves a lot of bleeding and headaches.

      @Mike Thank You
      Thanks for this tip, will give this a go.
      Have been cleaning the pistons on my Virago 1100, and once everything is back on the bike, and time to bleed them, I just can't get the air out from the system..

    Nice job. I recently replaced my old rubber brake lines with Galfer Stainless steel braided lines on my 97 1100. Very nice and I deleted the crossover bar that divides the line from the master cylinder into two lines, one for each caliper. I ran both new lines directly to the master cylinder and used a longer banjo bolt. Looks neat and with a speed bleeder it did not take long at all to get a strong lever.
    I see you are in Vancouver. I am in Port Orchard Hope to see you on the road one day. Keep the rubber down and ride safe.

      You think the stainless steel lines will fit on a 85 virago 1000

      @@1menwolfpack550 I can not see why not. Just make sure you order the year/model and what style, two lines from master cylinder or one. The old rubber acts like a pressure relief to the caliper. After a certain pressure is reached at the caliper, any more squeezing just expands that old rubber. Great upgrade, especially for an 85 year model.
