For anyone that needs seeing this. If you can't see the pspemu folder then you need to go to file explorer. Then go view -> options-> uncheck hide protected Operating system files.
FOR YEARS... I've always wanted to mod my vita but yet always been skeptic about it. I've dug through tons of other user videos but they always seemed off and so I never bothered then I found YOU. You make things much easier in step by step process and now my vita is official modded and I am confident and thankful for you doing these videos.
Man, thanks so much for all these guides. I’m not a complete stranger to this stuff, I have a modded PS2, GameCube with GCLoader, and a bunch of other crap, but after seeing your guides I felt super confident and got a white/lime slim. So much to love! Thanks again. My PSP was probably my most played device ever, so having all those games, plus RetroArch, PSX, and a few newer vita titles as a nice bonus, all of this is just insane.
So I followed this guide and the two previous guides (jailbreak and sd2vita guide) and I wanted to say thanks a lot for your efforts and the clear explanation. Now whit a bunch of PS1 and PSP games I don´t know where to start... The struggle is real :)
for those that already had ps1 games but they weren't pbp, you can convert them from bin/cue to pbp using psx2psp. you'll just have to find the icon and background images yourself. after converting, it makes it into the folder that you can directly put into the pspemu folder

Just wanted to say ‘thanks’ for your guides on modding, installing sd adapters and this one. Of all the years I’ve owned a Vita (two now), I never considered jail breaking it either because I was nervous about screwing something up or getting banned. But after watching your guides multiple times over and reading threads online about how worth it it is, I decided to take the plunge and do it. I’m still very new to this whole modding thing and I’m still trying to figure things out, but I am enjoying the freedom of not being tethered to limited storage from Sony’s overpriced memory cards. I’m now in the process of downloading over 75+ games ranging from PS1 to PSP, to Vita games onto my 1000 Vita. I’ll keep my 2000 model as a spare with some games on it for more casual gaming sessions. Thanks again for making this process much less intimidating than it seemed at first for a noob like myself.
Only discovered your content a week or so ago, glad to see your channel back and uploading quality content. My odroid go super is much more interesting thanks to your guides and forum post on the odroid forums.
Even though I went and done most of these steps already (even the secret exit Super Mario World style or Warp Whistle making Pikachu sad..), I still watched the video start to end. Because it's just PERFECT. 🙌🤩💪 PSVita is my favourite PS/PSP retro gaming device now. And of course the Vita games themselves.
Hey just a heads up to anyone reading. You DO NOT need to use/buy a card adapter. The folder path is still there and available, windows simply cant read it properly due to the emulation. Boot Vitashell. Press SELECT to enter USB MODE Then go to windows file explorer and simply type in (Replace C with correct Driver letter) C:\pspemu\PSP\GAME\ or C:\pspemu\ISO\ and windows will open the file path automatically, allowing you to simply copy paste the files into the right directory.
If it's just to import PSP games, you can use FileZilla. In VitaShell, press START, and change "Press Select" to FTP. Once in FileZilla, press SELECT and a Host number will appear. Type in the number in the Host table and last four digits in the Port table and hit Quickconnect. Now, I'm still wondering how to get PS1 roms on the Vita, if the rom format is incompatible.
I really want to get a PS Vita again. I got it when it first came out and I was doing field training. During down time this was my life saver. Whenever I wasn't training or in formation I was in my room getting lost in my Vita. Good times man. Thank you very much Sir! My 12yr old daughter and I are enjoying the Vita a whole lot more. I wish none but the best to your and your channel. Just subbed :)
Wish you had gone over how to do this without having to plug the memory card into your PC, so for anyone wondering: I use an official memory card for my modded vita, no sd2vita. You need to use the app VitaShell, plug your Vita into your PC with a USB cable, then get them connected. Press start and make sure the "USB Device" is set to whatever you are using as your storage (mine is "Memory Card"). Also make sure the option "Select Button" is set to USB since you are connecting via USB cable. Close the options menu. Press Select and it should connect your Vita to your PC and open up File Manager. From there, you can follow the rest of the tutorial in the video! :)
Yeah mate, they are a nice console! Great to collect for too, prices are going crazzzzy. Very under estimated console and I'm glad it's finally getting the credit it deserves.
Can’t stop the signal! This is so cool. I think hacking the PSP, Vita, DSiXL, or 3DS is a fantastic alternative to the stale 3326 environment. Note to others: be wary of fake ROMs - I’ve had a number or sites try to get me to open a 500kb exe file.
This is the second time that I’ve jailbroken my Vita. I went through the process several months ago and it worked fine but after a month I started having some issues with games not loading or playing correctly. My setup wasn’t by the book either, I was using a Mac to do the jailbreak with a Virtual Machine. That process was painful and I don’t think the jailbreak was clean, this time I’m using a windows system to perform the jailbreaking process and I have to admit this run was a lot smoother and cleaner. I’ve built a small database on the pc to store “vpk” files and other downloadables. So far I’m a lot happier with the way this process turned out and I really appreciate your videos tutorials, I’m going back on the road for work soon and I want to make sure my vita is rock solid and fully loaded.
little tip for those who don't have a sd card reader or misplaced their's you can just load the iso's onto the vita directly and then move them into psemu data file through vitashell after disconnecting and it works fine.
did you know your circle and x buttons are set to the japanese defaults? in america the confirm/cancel buttons are switched so x is confirm and circle is cancel. there's an option in system settings to swap this either way. this could also just be the default of the psvita 2000 series, i have the 1000.
I suspected that since I have a Japanese 2000 model, but I prefer them this way since all the retro handhelds have this same scheme. Thanks for the tip!
Same here. Mine is an Asian/HongKong store bought model... Which is very likely Japanese. So mine are CIRCLE ⭕ for enter. I noticed a couple of other guides or videos that use CROSS ✖️ to enter.

I made it work using www. coolrom.com. Then, when you chose your rom, you don't press the big download button, but you press the "alternative download link". Then just wait a few seconds for the timer and press download. It took relatively long for me (for the actual rom sizes), but it's legit. Then I used this youtube video to convert the .bin files from coolrom to pbp files: ua-cam.com/video/PiCesmzAB5s/v-deo.html Then I got an error, which I fixed with this video ua-cam.com/video/iW1_PwGRI-Q/v-deo.html And then, lastly, I had to go to the psx2psp app again, go to options and change the compression from 0 to 1-3. But I think you should do this step before the previous one, since it's more efficient. I just did it last. I hope this helps you. Oh yeah, and you need something like Winrar to extract the zip rom files.

I’ve been setting up my PS Vita this weekend and I’m having a blast. I can’t believe how easy PKGj is. I also added an Arcade Punks RetroArch build and it looks great. I’ll pass on the Dreamcast and N64 stuff, because I have a plethora of retro handhelds to take care of that, but this will be a nice Sony focused complement to our collection.
@@Niborino9409 So I ended up using it as a bit of an inspiration… it was dated and not to my standard (3-4 years old+) Basically it’s pre-configured and you just follow a simple guide to set it all up. I ended up keeping the Dynamic Wallpapers (this is a good thing to learn) and the playlists, 3D box arts and rom sets. I’m pretty well versed in retroarch (a lot of thanks to Russ on this too), installed the latest version and add in the Arcade Punks stuff that I liked. I cleaned the provided rom sets to match my rom collection and then there’s a feature in retroarch that cleans the playlists by deleting games that aren’t in the folder. I also picked out my favorite XMB icons for the systems and games and added filters, which were not present in the Arcade Punks build because some games won’t work with filters. I’m very happy with the result now.
also if ur having trouble finding the folder for ps1 like me, u can just add the pbp file to the data folder on the vita. Now while on the vita disconnect thru vita shell and just move the file from the data file to the pspemu game folder. since its way easier to find. just move and paste.

I’ll pass on the Dreamcast and N64 stuff, because I have a plethora of retro handhelds to take care of that, but this will be a nice Sony focused complement to our collection.
Arcade Punk's RetroArch build? Is it a UI?
@@Niborino9409 So I ended up using it as a bit of an inspiration… it was dated and not to my standard (3-4 years old+)
Basically it’s pre-configured and you just follow a simple guide to set it all up.
Right I'm buying a vita now and doing this, amazing stuff Russ.
I LOVE my white Vita but that blue one is STUNNING
You really got me at that Final Fantasy IX bit
bought a ps vita aqua blue, will go back to this video
Great video. Waiting for PSVita emulation video.
Coming soon!
I just love looking at the beauty of these magnificent handheld systems...😍💯✔
Wow! This is cool. Thanks for sharing this. Nice work
I will now officially call the confirm button as the "Yeah man, I wanna do it." button.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing the process!
Welcome back Russ! Fantastic guide, as usual.
Thank you! My friend and I hacked my Vita a few days ago and I was scratching my head with this lol
Love your videos!
Glad you got everything back!
that bubble stuff is awesome, i can have ALL my psvita, ps1 and psp games on the home screen!
Me: 35k....come on !!!!
Russ: 50k.... I'm watching you 😎
I love your content!! Thank you so much! It's truly amazing how well your videos are
also if ur having trouble finding the folder for ps1 like me, u can just add the pbp file to the data folder on the vita. Now while on the vita disconnect thru vita shell and just move the file from the data file to the pspemu game folder. since its way easier to find. just move and paste.
Great in depth tutorial 👌👍
This will make a vita totally bad ass.
Thanks for helping me with the Adrenaline double dutch.
As someone who doesn't know anything about PS Vita's or homebrew or anything I was able to follow this with relative ease. I was having trouble with Vitashell and the VPK's weren't showing up but from other videos of your I have that WINSCP so I can do things with FTP and that worked flawlessly! I was able to make the VPKs folder on the WINSCP and install the Adrenaline Bubbles manager and was able to get my Ape Escape game as a bubble and follow the rest of the guide :D I'm a bit confused of the whole title id pbt thing so I'm gonna have to re-watch that but I got my PSP games to work so that's a start ☺ thank you for the guide as it helped bring back to life one of my favorite games of all time and I'm so happy that I bought a PS Vita 1000 now and get to play Ape Escape! Once I figure out that title id stuff I'll be all set :D I'm setting this up for my niece to play games on so it's been worth the time trying to figure this all out. Thanks again!! ☺
Hallelujah! Welcome back!
Welcome back!
I had a life until 2 weeks ago I got a VITA. Amazing console
