Alta Plaza Park in the Pacific Heights area of SF. I've walked those stairs a many of times and you still see the scars of that scene. As someone pointed out they did not have permits to film that scene going down those steps. I have no idea how they pulled that off but it works. SF back in the 70's was not the expensive city to live in. Now in 2020 it's outrageous how much it is to live there.
They don’t make comedy like this anymore. And especially these types of stunts. That bit at the end on the pier with the convertible and the guy standing up with his head rolling underneath the awning and then flying out of the car when it flys off😂
IF you HAD to add music to this scene, why the hell didn't you use Ernest Gold's climactic car chase from IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD? At least, it would've been music that was intended to be used for a car chase.
This sequence doesn't need music, and the silly cues you have added are just superfluous. If something is really funny, it doesn't need to be underscored; that's just gilding the lily.

This actually sucks. Movie is a classic but the score in not only incongruous with the action on screen but is so loud that it's a constant distraction from the movie itself, like someone playing a stereo loudly in the next room.
The guy flying outvof the car with his little white socks cracks me up still.
This is the best comedy in the history of American cinema. You got a problem with that ? GO FIND YOUR OWN ROCKS. !!!

they DID NOT have permission to drive the cars down the steps, but did so anyway. The steps are still damaged!
I've always wondered about if the City approved that and did they repair the steps.
The music is too loud, and buries the dialog. Plus, it ruins the part where she turns on the radio and bluegrass music begins to play.
