I have seen this movie dozens of times, and know it by heart. It's still fresh and new. What a cast! All Streisand had to do was trust Bogdanovich and just say her lines. Her comic chops and timing were unbeatable.
My best friend and I traveled around to different theaters and saw the film 11 times. It would have been 12 but the Jersey theater wouldn't let us in after the film started. To this day I can do the dialogue and recently I bought the film.
I eant to thank Barbra, Ryan, Madeline and Petter for this little masterpiece. Watching this for the first time in 1972 I laughed so hard I literally fell out of my chair and rolled out in the aisle. I you don't believe it. GO FIND YOUR OWN ROCKS.
"What's Up, Doc?" is a fun, family friendly picture with comedy, slapstick, romance and some great lines. In the movie, Judy Maxwell and Hugh Simon do not like each other. My favorite exchange between them: Judy: "Has anyone ever told you, 'you are incredibly sexy'?" Hugh: "Well actually, no." Judy: "They never will." Simply one of the best put-downs I've ever heard!
There’s an insurmountable obstacle when the leads aren’t funny. Check out A New Leaf, The Odd Couple, or The Graduate instead. Great writing and acting.
The leads are actually very funny in this. Streisand's best comedy performance, Ryan plays the straight man brilliantly, and Madeline Kahn is hysterical. The Odd Couple is Neil Simon Schlock, and feels like tired sitcom dialogue.
@@rbriggs89I love The Graduate and What's Up, Doc. They're two of my favorite movies. I always burst out laughing, no matter how many times I watch them. The acting and casting are brilliant, and Barbra looks her best in What's Up Doc.

You said it, i believe it’s her best film.
What’s Up Doc is hysterical!
Thank god for Peter Bogdanovich, Ryan O’Neal, Madeline Kahn & Barbara Streisand!!
One of the best movies and acting performances ever.
One of the all-time funniest movies. Definitely one of my top 3 favorites, maybe even my all-time favorite. Just great.
I loved What's Up Doc. BRILLIANT 👍👍👍😊

Great Carry Grant impression.
The only movie I can watch over and over again, and I laugh every time I watch it. My absolute all-time favorite.

Agree with you. Ryan O'Neal (RIP) is BRILLIANT in this movie. So subtle.@@rbriggs89
The leads are insanely funny. I'm not sure what movie you were talking about. Maybe you should watch it again.
