    Addicted to fire, adrenaline, the job, etc.. Why is that a problem? They put their lives on the line and do what others won't. If it wasn't for these adrenaline junkies, fire addicts, etc.. no one would be there to help you. I wouldn't be going back into the field if I didn't enjoy the adrenaline you get + the ability to help others.

      Australia only avoided getting hit hard (although it was affected) because it sucked up to the Chinese. Now that China's economy is falling apart that's likely to come back to bite them in the ass.
      Our currency fetches higher percentage because America is the world's number one superpower and it didn't get there by giving lazy people handouts.
      Yeah we get it, your taxes fund welfare programs in return for liberal votes. Big deal. Get a fucking job.

We had a plan fro almost any scenarios. example: "House fire, I come with tanker you come with engine, set up, charge entry line by that time, I have tanker hooked to hydrant and re-charging engine (keeping volume and pressure),and we make entry. Time to entry? less than five minutes. One guy runs back and forth to the engine and tanker ever few minutes to check the pumps, It was one of the funnest things ever.,

    Since when do you dispatch only 1 unit to a fire call?? In NYC the 1st response is 3 engines and 2 Ladders.

    • @zanetinsley7985
      @zanetinsley7985 5 років тому

      They had 2 engines, but with a department that small they can't have the same response as FDNY

      @@zanetinsley7985On top of that; buildings in cities such as New York City and Chicago are a lot closer together compared to cities such as Detroit and Indianapolis. With regards to Chicago it's because the city sits on the shoreline of Lake Michigan and as a result builders in residential areas of Chicago have to build up rather than build out.

    I'm a fire explorer on my way to becoming a firefighter. There is nothing that can compare to this type of work. It's an unexplainable feeling, although I'm not quite yet a firefighter but just going through the training and putting out fires I just can't see myself doing anything else in life.

    By the looks of it, Highland Pk. was almost 50 thousand people in the 50's, now its just 11 thousand dead in the middle of Detroit...Very shortly its going to be just a vacant burnt out landscape...If I was a young Firefighter Id go to Detroit, they got quite a bit of turf yet....Im just talking keeping employment....And another thing, No Benefits?!?! WTF!!!!

    • @colbyh.4933
      @colbyh.4933 6 років тому

      MegaMantim They rarely hire new recruits. It’s been a year or two since Detroit took on a new batch. Highland Park allows “ride alongs” for firefighters from other departments though and generally they allow you to pitch in on the work.

    • @michaellovely6601

      Detroit has experienced decades of economic decline since the 1940's. 1944 is the year that the city's then mayor Edward Jeffries lobbied Congress for Federal funds to build expressways leading out of Detroit and into the suburbs. It was a slow but steady decline of population in Detroit from that point forward. A lot of people assume that the decline of Detroit was a result of the riots in the summer of 1967; the riots didn't cause the population decline, rather they served as an accelerant.

    Sorry, but I just don't see the point in beating yourself to death for vacant buildings. And if someone IS in a fully involved vacant building, they're dead. I like a good fire like any other guy, but I'm not going to rush into a burning building for a adrenaline high. When you get older and wiser, you get over that. Stay safe, live longer.

    • @getthegoods420
      @getthegoods420 8 років тому +1

      ffjsb ya I think that guy is in the wrong line of work.. he should go join a swart team or something. fires spread though so it's still important to put out fires even if the building are unoccupied.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb 8 років тому +2

      You don't have to go in to put the fire out. Work smart, not hard.

    • @getthegoods420
      @getthegoods420 8 років тому +1

      ffjsb they go in to look for survivors, putting water on the fire makes the smoke go down and supposedly makes the little pockets of breathing spaces, that people could be hiding in, more dangerous. just from what I hear though, not from experience.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb 8 років тому +1

      I've been on the job for over 30 years, and people don't survive being in a fully involved building. That's just a fact. Smoke and heat expand into every space in a fire, and most people die of smoke inhalation long before the heat gets them.
