I think it's one of the best decisions that Nintendo changed the soundtrack to the final versions we have now. Because mkds is its own game, it's not a double dash no. 2.
@@newsuperbowserworld It sounds better, but that's because it emulates the Double Dash soundtrack. The final version sounds worse, but it has its own unique feel and identity.
well development of ds was starting not too long since it came out (Novemeber 16 2003 for dd and november 14th 2005 for mkds which is around 2 year gap)
Yeah, we all knew when we first got the kiosk demo in 2007, seems like you are late to the party, and most people knew about in 2011 because of MKDS hacking exploded.
It’s initially meant to sound more like Double Dash but they downgraded almost all instruments to sound a bit more like crap mostly due to memory limitations. I actually like the beta music more.
Another picked bass on the Kiosk and Double Dash is more ear-pulsing and less worry than the final. Definitely make an improved soundfont will edited soon.
I still can't understand why beta uses higher quality samples 💀 And to make things worse the selection of instruments is more variable, some instruments play along more in harmony and the worse thing of all is that the final version sounds de-remixed 💀
Because the beta was a less complete game, so there was more memory available for the music. They had to reduce the quality of the samples out of necessity. (Also, the final version of the theme actually has more instrument variety, as a lot of parts that were purely played by the brass was given to different instruments. Aside from sample quality, both versions of the theme are good.)
1st off some tracks are better in beta but some suck, it just has too much brass in the kiosk demo versions that were leaked in 2007, also they had to compress because of ROM space constraints, also if you even try to add the higher quality samples into the final version it won't work because for some reason the final game limits the sample rate and the sample file sizes, now that is weird and makes no sense, I bet there is a way to get around it though.
This beta soundfont is far better than the final soundfont personally! Sadly I didn’t get to really hear the themes in Desert Hills, DK Pass, Tick Tock Clock, Bowser Castle, Rainbow Road, GBA Bowser Castle, and GBA Sky Garden in the style.

HUH? Everything about the kiosk demo is definitely better than the final

@@UltraNintendoChalmers64 ok but Wii does the DS style better
@@newsuperbowserworld Uh, MKWii just does direct rips of the MKDS songs. There's no difference between them.
Wow. A lot of the demo, beta, and kiosk versions sound a lot more like Double Dash.

It's probably due to the download play mode. IIRC download play sizes have an upper limit.
