If you want to make a video like this on your own, hopefully these steps can help out: 1. I used vgmtrans to extract each song from the rom 2. Exported the songs into the highly compatible midi format with sf2 3. Deconstructed the channels to my liking in a generic music software and exported each one into a streamed sort of file (mp3, wav, etc.) 4. Put each file into SidWizPlus which does all the oscilloscope work. If SidWizPlus doesn't work that well I've heard of Corrscope but haven't given it a try. It may take some time to render. Hope this helps, if you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them

Part of what I love about listening to music I've heard countless times is finding new layers and instruments I never noticed before and focusing on them; focusing on all the little parts that make the song what it is without you even KNOWING it's happening. This is why I love video game music so much and videos like this PERFECTLY illustrate that passion.
Same! I feel pretty focused on trying to figure out what parts of the song I can figure out, while listening to a new section I hadn't heard before because of the main instruments.
What I think each of the individual instruments are for each channel. Channel 1: Sawtooth Synthesizer Channel 2, 3, and 10: Saxophone Channel 4: Pipe Organ Channel 5: Electric Guitar Channel 6: Electric Bass Channel 7: Hi-hat Channel 8: Snare Channel 9: Electric Tom
it's interesting seeing polyphony within a single channel, instead of multiple channels being used for multiple notes of the same voice like older consoles
The DS and GBA, while often criticized for poor audio quality, could actually pull off some pretty impressive stuff. Most of the limitations come from a lack of memory (ROM and RAM) and the poor quality of the speakers and audio jack on the physical consoles.
These are amazing When some friends start singing the main notes of whatever song the game we play has, I usually go for the rest of the notes, so I got very into this kind of deconstructions, I really like to listen to each part of an instrumental Hearing each song's pillar is such a delight
Weird thinking how one of my favorite consoles and games of all time is 2 years older than me 😂 Lol now I’m sad i want to go find my old ds, good memories on there
Ok the fact that the bassline is so amazing with all of it’s distinct parts that I’m getting a headache from trying to replicate it in a music production software shows how amazing of a composition this is
revisiting this, i love the bass so much. i think the way that the melody keeps the same rhythm but changes in pitch adds to the chaotic but mechanical feel to the track
i like how each instrument/channel sounds a tad out of tune and wonky on its own, but all mixed together it sounds great kinda fits wario's character imo
This was amazing. I love seeing songs deconstructed like this because it really gives you a good idea on what makes the song sound so good, all the individual parts working together. I also really appreciate you playing all the channels at the end since even though, yes, you can just listen to the song normally, this lets you have a visual reference, and see it all playing out. Thank you for making this, much love.
Even already knowing and loving the song, seeing and hearing each individual part for 5 minutes (while having the melody in your head) just makes the full song when it finally comes slap 10x as hard. Hands down the best way to listen to this song
This is such an amazing video and really displays the intense amount of detail and effort pumped into the music for these games. And people wonder why Waluigi Pinball is a fan favorite. Thank you for giving us this wonderful gift
This song is still one of my favorites. I remember playing this one so much on Mario kart ds as a kid. Hearing it to this day still reminds me of the little lyrics I would sing to myself while just driving away

Sonic Rush has some amazing music for the ds, very impressive considering it came out launch year. It's way better and goes way harder than it has any right to, but that's just Hideki Naganuma for ya. Sonic Rush Adventure is also very good, but I don't think it's as impressive.
i do desconstructions in my head since i was a kid and i ever wanted to find videos with the "instruments" played separated. thanks god these days have finally came.
It's interesting how this music is lacking bass. The "bass synth" is significantly higher than what you would expect, and even the kick is higher pitched. The DS just didn't hadn't good enough speakers for bass, and they simply composed the music with this fact in mind.

1- saxophone
2&10- clarinet
3- trumpet
4- organ
5- electric guitar
6- electric bass
7,8,9- percussion
