Every dog deserves a vet like this guy.
Agreed. I love this guy. He is so smart and helpful.
Totally agree. Try finding one though
indeed.,does he have a 501c3 equivalent?
If only!!
Years in special operations, no kids, now I’m done and got a dog. I had no idea I could love 9 pounds of fur so much. My entire adult life I fought to keep people safe..now I have this little guy who I would protect over any human..it’s frustrating to be able to save a person from a gunshot but not know how to save my whole world of fur. Until I found you! Because of your videos I feel I have a baseline knowledge and at least enough to know how to help and what not to do. I can’t express how much peace this gives me. Thank you sir, people like you make all my sacrifices worth it.
You have a furry family! 🤗🦊
@@foxiedogitchypaws7141 Yes, I chose the job over kids and now it’s too late as we can’t , however now I have an idea of what people say when they talk about selfless and true love. I know it’s stupid and weak but this puppy has entered places of my heart I thought I lost over 17 hard years in combat . The puzzle piece I needed and couldn’t be happier or prouder to have a fur family.
@@Sevendeucegroup I used to think people who liked animals more than humans were Nuts! Now I Know better. 👍
Welcome to a world of true love ( Animals ) 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶♥️💯
@@Sevendeucegroup What branch of the military did you serve?
1) grapes/raisins
2) onions
3) avocado skin
4) green parts of tomatoes including stems or unripe.
5) apple seeds
6) peas
Thank you!
Thank you for the list !
Thank you ❤
English green marble elbowing peas are good...
Marble round looking peas
The "green" potato and tomato are also members of the nightshade family - along with peppers and eggplant!! Even some humans are allergic to nightshades - like my daughter!!
Wow!!! PEAS!!!! I didn't know about this one!! I bake lean turkey meat balls and shread organic carrots and put a few peas in them. Not any more. Thank you for the VERY important videos!!♥️🐶😁👍
I know isn't it crazy
Well peas in dogfood across the world
Where are our supposedly animal activists who "care" about animals!
@@idaevans2509 Yes!!! You're right!!
We gotta be informed as much as possible and read our labels and our fur babies. ♥️🐶😁👍 I miss the 70s and 80s...we just lived and did have to worry about the poisons in our foods.
I had no idea about the peas. Or that the meaty part of avocados was ok
Wow thank you so much for all your information. You are a true blessing for us
Amazing they put PEAS in dogfood!
Thank you so much I didn't know the peas were bad. Peas are an ingredient in many dog foods mainly grain free.
Absolutely
Again poisen for dogs!
I can not believe what they do to our pets now I'm making all my dog's food
There are very few without peas, I feed about half kibble half cooked to my two (I use Dr Jones recipes)...my gsd girl has such a touchy stomach, it took me a couple of years to find the right combo, from super expensive to Kirkland brand kibble, Victor has a kibble (multipro yellow bag) without peas that keeps her poop and tummy as it should be, I even tried just the cooked and it didn't keep her tummy from being upset but the combination works great. 🤍
I had no idea about the peas, I use them in my dogs homemade food sometimes because it's in the recipe. I'll def stop using them. Thanks for all your knowledge for our fur babies.
I love you! You are what everyone that has pets is looking for. Professional advice. Thank you so so much for all your videos.❤️
I was aware of everything you mentioned except the peas. Thanks for the info!
Wait wait wait!! In a video very very recently about making your dog homemade food, you suggested peas and carrots in their food. You even said to smash it up a bit and stir and you gave your dog peas on the video. I've been giving this to my dog since your video.. maybe 7 to 10 days ago!! Am I harming my dog????????
Thank you Dr. Jones!! I just love & highly respect & appreciate you so much!! YOU ARE THE VERY BEST!! 🙏🤗❤👍❤❤❤
Oh wow, I did not realize peas were on the bad list, thank you.
The peas were a surprise! Luckily our dog can take or leave the. However, he loves broccoli and cauliflower, raw or cooked.
Thanks Tulla for being a great assistant on this episode!
I new about some of these but not the peas! I had given my dog some stew that had peas in it and he ate all of it but the peas! he left them all in the bottom of the bowl. I thought it was funny how meticulous he ate it but now I think he somehow knew lol. He's an American Akita and finnicky but now I wonder if some dogs know 🤔 Thank you for the video, I so wish we could have you for our Vet.
Thank you Dr Jones 💖🙏🏻
There was a brand of dog food my mother only bought for our dog. Skippy dog food looked like beef stew. It contained peas. Our dog would carefully avoid the peas and leave them in a small pile in his bowl. Good boy, Sam.
My eyes are only on Thula during the whole video. 🥰😍 She seams to supervise you! .
OMG the dog on the counter! So funnnnnny! I have a Dachsund and man, that dog has been found on the table a few times. Also; the green potato is a real thing; he has snuck into the garden and has dug up the potatoes, and well, he didn't feel well and was acting reallllllly weird!
Thank you. I’ve shared peas with my dog thinking they’re so good for him.
I have avocado trees. My dogs have been eating avocados as long as I have been here. Over 40 years. I have read other sources about avocados being toxic to dogs. But I have never seen it. Some of my dogs leave the skin. Some eat the meat and skin. I am surrounded by avocado groves. My vet has often mentioned how many of their patients put on weight due to eating avocados during the season. They have never warned me against it. It is just a normal part for dogs living in this community. I've had dogs who ate 6 to 8 avocados a day. Anyway, that has been my experience. My dogs have been taught by their predecessors to not eat the seeds.
My dog ate apples every day too and he lived a good long life. I assume he spit the seeds out but who knows.
@@dianasimplifies I grade apple into my dogs dish as a snack with a little dollop of plain Greek yogurt.
The apple releases it's juices and mixed together with the yogurt, she love's it!
When my dog was a pup she loved onion skins. I had to move the compost heap to stop her eating them.
Thank you Dr Jones for helping us be better pet parents 🌸💗
Thank you for this wonderful service you provide. I've been watching for a long time, but today, I downloaded the 2 free ebooks. I can't even express how grateful I am for the wealth of knowledge that you give us.
God bless and have a great weekend!
Thank you Doctor Jones. I was surprised at the peas. I include some V Dog kibble in my dogs diet, and the first two ingredients are “Dried Peas, Pea Protein”! I have even added them to his homemade stew. So thank you so much for the advice.
Also, I thought garlic was on the list along with the onions. I never add either of those to his food.
Thanks again. 👍🏻
If you r dog consumed less than a clove a garlic they should be fine but more than that ,may have serious problems.
The Pharma (flea replent) companies fed ONLY garlic to their "test" dogs = the dogs died = so they could report garlic killed the dogs = BUY "our" product instead.
Very interesting Thankyou so much.. My vet told me years ago that dogs either love cheese or peas but very rarely both. I had no idea peas were not so good for dogs, many dog chews and treats are now based on pea proteins.. What do you think of that?.
Thank you
...and chocolate!!
Very good advice, Dr. J.. What about peas in cat food? Many have peas included.
ps: tomato stalk and leaves are poisonous for humans as well.
I count chocolate as vegetable too... comes from plant.. though seed on the inside sort of says fruit too, like the avocado.
Oh wow, I hadn't heard that peas are harmful to dogs! While peas aren't a daily addition to my dogs menu, I have on occasion included a few to his bowl. I'm so glad I saw this video!
I wish every Veterinarian was this knowledgeable. Nearly ALL vets are only interested in chargeable costs. Took a dog to multiple vets for "dry eye" in my chihuahua. All vets want $120 eye test + office visit of $95 and another $80 for antibiotic shot and another $40 to $100 for multiple drops or ointment.
My dog took a bite of an Amanita muscaria mushroom from our yard once, but I didn't know until a while later. I realized when I went to give him a bath and he was completely covered in drool, so I did some quick investigating to figure out what was going on and found the mushroom. I had to get a rag and pull all of the drool out of his mouth because he couldn't swallow. Long story short, he was fine, but had I not noticed him sooner, he may not have been....I sometimes wonder what he may have been seeing though. Lol
Your dog probably knows the secrets of the universe now
@@dr.athariqbal5487 maybe! That might explain why he would get excited every time he saw one of those mushrooms after that! 😅
Tulla just sits there like -- yeah, yeah, I've heard all this before -- can I go take a nap now?
Thank you dr jones for this video
My Dogs eat everything i do they live long lives 16 can't complain 175lb dog 11 he's great
Its a good job my dog picks out the peas, carefully, and puts them outside his dinner bowl. Does he know?!
Thanks for the info doc!
Thank you!
This has me in shock!! I used to give my dog grapes in the summer, he absolutely loves them. I figured because its mostly water it CANT be bad for him. He was NEVER EVER SICK or I would of stopped immediately!! he consumed allot....
He was diagnosed with kidney failure which was also enlarged, around the same time!! hes 14 now and still going as I've completely changed up his dietary, back legs are going as I carry him up n down the stairs and on our bed.
I cant believe this....I even argued with my mrs about it because of its water content.
Thanks again Doc ❤…now know why our American Bully XL gets terrible gas when his feed has peas… I avoid legumes from his diet 😉
After reading a bunch of the comments, it's clear that a lot of us didn't have a clue about peas & are grateful to you, Doc, for enlightening us !!

If I'd never seen this as I was looking up about teeth chattering and stumbled on this god sent DR🙏🏾💙🙏🏾 ( think my dog had gum disease)
I would of done the same this year as hed never had a bad reaction eating them.
So glad I saw this video - I add peas to my dogs food on occasion- I feel so bad - Thanks so much for helpful info Dr Jones you are the
Best
Awesome as always 😙😙
Thank you, for your information. Love your doggie 💚🤍💚
Thank you so much for your channel. You are saving thousands of pets.
Thank you for this very important information.
Hi doc, just want to say thank you for all you do for our fur babies. Stay awesome.
Always a good reminder. Thank you.
Thank You and God Bless You Dr. Jones 🐶♥️🙏‼️ I’m Already Subscribed But Have a LOT of Facebook Friends Who are Big Time Dog 🐕 Owners and Lovers Thus I’m Posting THIS Vid on My Page RIGHT NOW ‼️‼️‼️
Lol I had a pug. He ate thousands of apples. I think he spit the seeds out. He also ate a million crabapples. He LOVED FRUIT! 😅
I gave my puppy apple yesterday I’m glad I didn’t give him the core . And I gave him my left over peas yesterday too ,we need dr Andrew in every vets
Love ya Doc. Pancho pug still doing well from atopy. Raised fleshy bumps on chin are staying away. Krill, Quercetin, beta sitosterol. Doing well. God Bless you, your family and Tula girl🥰
What a great guy ! Thank you for sharing.💌
I knew most, but surprised to learn of the peas and avocado concern.
Are mushrooms not toxic? I’ve read celery is a no no as well if stalks are not cut into small pieces. Concern being the long strings on stalks can wrap around intestines. What say you Dr. On these things?
Oh…huge thank you for your channel and sharing all you do.
Since I discovered you I’m recommending you to all my clients. Love your honest advice. 👍
This was so informative, so helpful, and so important to share! Thank you! 🐕
Thx! Knew that the pea proteins are bad, Never knew whole cooked peas were an issue.
Peas ok! I didn't know thank you! 💚🙏🏼
So happy to have found your channel several months ago. Would be extremely grateful if you could do an episode regarding allergies to protein and wanting to try to gett your dog off or semi off of full kibble diet. There is a slew of info regarding raw diet options but not for dogs with allergies.
Thank you so much for this very important information 💕 You always have such great information for us pet owners😌 We are truly grateful 🥰
My dog's don't eat dog food i cook for them they probably eat better than most people and all have healthy lives
Many thanks for this info. I wasn't aware of the danger of peas or how toxic apple pips are. So grateful to this man.
Thank you so very helpful❤
Years ago I didn't know grapes were toxic. My dog loved them. Then she had a seizure. OMG so scary. Thank God she survived.
We do dog food have peas and tomatoes in them? That's crazy.
Thanks Doc! Hope you and yours are well! Lil hugs xo
My dog loves peas! I had no idea. Thank you so much for this and all your content! Blessings!
Thank you Doc.
Thank you for great advice!
Shalom from the Ohio Valley 🙏
Amazing I have read ingredients in dog food and dog medication ordered by a VET that included
Avocados and Peas
Peas are so easy for me to add to my dog food! one of your other videos a few weeks ago about dog food you feed Tula peas. I guess if your dog doesn't react that it's ok to feed peas? Thank you for your videos.
Thank you for another amazing video.
Love little Tula
Right On Doc . Thanks for bringing this to the table , God Bless ! ❤
Glad you warned me about peas. A number of dog foods contain a good amount of peas
Ty Dr Jones. I knew all.except the Peas! That explains ALOT!!! TY 💗 💗 💗 💗 💗
Thanks for uploading this. Please do a version for cats too if you have the time.
Feed your cats raw meat, organs and bone, animal products Its all they need. They are obligate carnivores
Wasn't aware of the problems with peas! However, if we should put anything "green" in our GSD's food bowl, she will not eat it. Then she'll sit there for 1/2 an hour and give us the stink-eye, lol!
Dogs CAN eat red tomatoes 🍅 just not green stems or leaves; last summer I caught my cocker spaniel eating tomatoes right off the vine!!
My pug ate them off the vine too. We never got to eat any 😅
See, I never imagined to feed my dog skins and seeds and stems. Think this a problems with those dogs that think your garden is their banquet. Also, it’s not all dogs, but some dogs that can’t tolerate. Thanks for clearing up my dog toxic food fears doctor jones.
Wow. No wonder my doggo used to leave the five or so peas that were in his stew at the bottom of his bowl.
Thank you so much Dr. ❤❤❤🐾🐾🐾🐾🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you. Blessings to you 🙏 ❤❤❤❤
Thank to doctor.
Finally someone who explains why these things are bad.
What about mellows and berrys
Thank you again 🙌..🐩
Thanks Doc! Your the BEST!👍💜😀
I have just discovered you, wonderful to know that in these hard times we can save a bit of money 😜. Will you be doing a live show?. Xx
Great! My dog had peas and carrots in her brown rice and beef tonight. It'll be the lady time I do that!
THANK YOU Dr. Jones.
As always, thank God for YOU ❤!!!
Thank you for your recipes. I started making my own dog food for my dog based on your recipes. You suggested peas as one of the vegetable sources in one of your recipe videos around the same timeline as this video was made, so I thought it was safe and put them in his last batch of food which he loves. Now I’m confused.
Could peas be the possible link between dogs on "grain free" dog food and the increased incidence of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)?
Everyone reminder to sub and give this guy a thumbs up! free scientific information from a vet that discourages greedy pet companies.
I'm so happy to have found your channel. It's taken me too many vet visit horror stories to have finally found a local vet with a couple who are both licensed and practicing practical vet skills like those you discuss. They are out there, but not so easy to find.
Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I'm now a subscriber and looking forward to seeing more! You're the best!
Your a wonderful vet! There needs to be more doctors like you. ❤
Wow great information. Thank you Doctor!! ❤
When my jrt was young, she used to jump up and pinch the grapes off the vine, little bugger. She will be 14 soon and still going strong.
Hi Dr. Jones, I was watching one of your other videos where you were feeding "little Tula" peas and sweet potatoes. I have a lab and this morning after feeding my Charly his evening dinner the evening before of dry food mixed with half a can of canned food, I cut up some carrots, put in some blueberries and some peas. I noticed some throw up, a glob of green, and some grass. Could the peas have made him sick. Love your videos, just thought I would ask, maybe Charly can not eat them. Thank you
If he is eating grass that will make him throw up
I've been making my dog's food for years now. It made a huge difference in her health. And she was doing great on it until she developed an allergy to nightshade veggies later in life and to any kind of bird meat (chicken/turkey). One night she woke up and was very anxious. We had to go walk the neighborhood at 3 am while she peed every 5 mins and then I could see she was even peeing a little blood. I thought it was going to be something super serious so I called the vet and he checked her out and recommended a food allergy test. So I just had to stop putting nightshades of any kind (like zucchini, squash...) in her food. That fixed the problem. Just a heads up for people that getting an allergy test for your dog if they are having problems is a good idea. And that sometimes as they get older their body changes and you have to re-evaluate what you're giving them.
That's so weird that my vet told us there's no food allergy tests for dogs... 🤔 my black lab's diet was changed to help stop recurring ear infections w/o testing...
@@ellenm7806 I go to an integrative medicine vet. There is totally food allergy tests for dogs. Maybe your vet doesn't have access to a lab that would process it? I don't know.
Thanks for the valuable information!
