- This is a video that I have been wanting to make for sometime. I know many of us are not the greatest when it comes to understanding and using MIDI, but I think with a little bit of work and practice we can really take advantage of it. The Fantom G can control up to 16 midi channels in Live and Studio modes, but I figured I would explain how to control one channel first. Practice this video and soon I will show you how to control multiple channels from different keyboards at the same time! After that we will move on to recording these channels in Studio and then Resampling them.

Hi Ed. You kindly replied to a previous question below. I am now wanting to have my Kronos as the master with the Fantom as a slave. I can easily get the Fantom to change combi patches on the Kronos, doing it the other way round is proving more tricky. I can enter MSB and LSB no's into the Kronos and it is changing to the patch I require however I am ending up with lots of red check arrows ( like you get when you edit a voice in a combination ) I have spoken with Korg who said that the Fantom may need to be set up in a particular way so I don't get these edit check arrows. I need to speak with Roland but know that Roland won't give tech support on their keyboards when they have been discontinued for 2 years or more. Not really what you would expect having spent a few thousand pounds on a keyboard. Thanks in advance Cheers Mike

have you worked with the superpack exspansion set off roland webpage? do i jus load the .prj file once n save it to internal? also u stated FG mdi out -> in Motif , so leave the in of FG n Out of Motif alone correct?
Hey Ed, would you know how to get those control numbers from a Korg Trtion ? I would like a tutorial on ow to set up the Fantom G to control my Korg Triton.
Hey Ed, just picked up an app called OnSong for lyrics on the ipad and have looked all over for a way to set it up such that when we select a song in OnSong it selects a patch in the favourite...or even the studio, live and single patch. I am looking for the MSB and LSB of the Fantom G7 to work the other way around for each of the Modes...or a metadata type form in text for each.. Any help would be great! Thanks

Hello Ed, I'm a huge fan and thankful for all the videos on the Fantom G. What settings need to be changed in order to transpose a recorded song? I was able to transpose the entire song to the key I needed when I first got my Fantom G6. Please help. Thanks
Hey man...just wondering how to do this on the Fantom X. I don't have the option to enter the msb/lsb like you do on the G. How would I do it?
I'm trying to figure out how to use my Korg 03r/W synth rack with my Roland Fantom G7 as the Midi keyboard. I plugged in a Roland Branded Midi cable to midi out of the Fantom G7 and the other end of the Midi cable to midi in of the Korg 03R/W Rack. I get no sound. What am I doing wrong?
How can I does this with a motif 6 and a Casio privia 400r I want to play the motif sounds on the privia cause it’s 88 keys can I do this and still be able to use the pitch bend and mod wheel and transpose. I just bought a motif 6 and I don’t like the brittle key feeling.

Question. Is it possible to connect your fantom g6 to multiple instruments thru midi and control the time, tempo and to record without switching instruments? I'm working with the fantom g6. Yamaha motif 6. Roland mv 8800. And the Yamaha aw 1600. The motif 6 (drums etc). Aw 1600 (Recording session and cinematic mixing). Mv 8800 (samples, sound effects props & voice sampled movies and real vocals). Fantom g6 (master control. Voice recordings saving files thru usb drive). Using optical cables and coaxial cables for audio. Regular audio jacks need grounding. Optical coaxial digital cables are clear from feedback. Question. How to build my spaceship? LoL.
You could acer a toturio as it connects keyboard roland famton g6 version 1.50 a computer or cable usb .. but that works like midi please see if you answer me .. I speak from Peru ... please help me
hey ed i just hooked up my fantomg again i been trying to get it to my pc i have win 10 now and it dont work im using usb i trying to get it to work in like acid music and cool edit pro i used to do the song on the fantomg6 then just play it and mute on that fantomg what i didnt want on while recording live on them programs i need help now
I manage to connect my Yamaha CS2X to my Fantom. I worked. Hurray. I was convinced that I would never make it. I got some cool sounds on my Yamaha that I want to use in my Fantom.
Hi Ed,I’m trying to get my Fantom to control patch changes on a Kronos.I can enter numbers into the Fantom’s PC and yes, the Kronos changes as required however not having any luck entering MSB and LSB numbers to change banks. Firstly can’t find any MSB/LSB numbers on the Kronos. It’s annoying that Roland no longer give support for the Fantom as discontinued. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Regards Mike

Was trying to connect my M-AUDIO 64 controller to Fantom G8. The issue is that M-AUDIO only has a square USB port for input/output and power. I tried using a power USB adapter and even a usb to midi cable but no luck to produce any sound from the controller in the Fantom G. Is it possible to accomplish this at all?
Bro Ed... I like you to demo playing two kb midi controllers at the same time. As for me, I am planning to use the Roland Integra 7 channel 1 and 2 to accomplish it. I was told that many studios buy the Integra 7 and individuals like me could not get the tutorials. For example-
channel 1 - play melody, combination
channel 2 - play bass, rhythm guitar combination and maybe add some synth.

Hi Ed, thanks for your previous advice. Can you tell me how I can find the LSB and MSB numbers for voices within LIVE mode ( they are easily found in Single mode but I want to be able to choose a Fantom Live patch from my Kronos. Thanks in advance. regards Mike

Hi Ed, thanks for that info but not having any luck. The Fantom is set to Ch16 and I have the Kronos Combination patch's Ch16 set to EX2 in order to be able to enter the MSB and LSB info but where the Fantom allows MSB, LSB and patch no's, the KRONOS only has MSB and LSB inputs. I have tried entering 84 and 32as per the LIVE SET list you kindly sent through but the Fantom is just changing out of the USER bank and into a blank bank listed as 000 NO MEDIA?
Any ideas? I can't attach any photos to this reply which would be easier for you.Thanks again Mike
